Lessons in Leadership: The Wire - Omar Little (Original Long Form)

Omar Little is one of the most compelling characters in television history due to his charisma, cunningness, and most importantly, his ability to buck the system while mastering its ins and outs.
Though he's a one-man wrecking crew, he's also a tragic figure. He's a man that finds himself caught in an endless cycle of destruction. As much as we want to cheer on Omar, we should also take into consideration just where he went wrong and learn from him, so we don't find ourselves caught up in an endless cycle of revenge.

He whistles "The Farmer in the Dell" not " a hunting we will go" You know this because he says the line "the cheese stands alone" multiple times which is from the Farmer in the dell

Omar little was a badass even though he knew what was right and wrong but he should've stayed at the beach and enjoy his life and it sucks how he got killed in the end of the last season.

With Butchie clipped in B-more, phuck dat. Omar didnt scared. He lat least died at Kennard s hands instead of any other of the scumbags, wild cards or powerful enemies, including the cops. No one had the pleasure to clip Omar. Ninja died being as down with the game as it comes.

Omar's fatal weakness was his underestimation of kids (ex: Not paying mind to Mike even though he attacked Omar at his home, seeing Kenard enter the gas station and ignoring him), so I'm curious: what do you figure will be Mike's downfall since he takes Omar's place at the end?

Mike was abused as a kid so has a soft spot for kids, remember he was supposed to kill the kid at the house massacre. Omar was probably abused too that’s why he is 🌈 .

I also believe due to his fatal flaw as well as Omar allowed his status to blind him to being untouchable which in terms lowered his guard, a lack of discipline, emotional control, and situational awareness: him and Brandon robbing the stash house without any mask on, Brandon calling out his name, Brandon brutal killing, getting shot by Wey Bey(Omar should’ve known it’s very unlikely Avon travels alone without muscle), not fully vetting Dante before going on missions, not to mention Dante obvious envy of Kimmie, too weak and gave up Omar to Brother Mouzone, Butchie being murdered by Chris and Snoop, killing Savino after he promised Bunk no more bodies which in term lead to his death by a child he underestimated. When you allow yourself to become untouchable like Omar, sooner or later someone will challenge your status due to envy and potential glory they gain on their rep.

Omar’s downfall was him letting his anger and emotions get the best of him, Marlo did that by setting a trap for Omar by killing butchie to bring him out of retirement. Omar reacted instead of responding. Had Omar really sat on it and thought about it, he would have known it’s a trap to bring him back, Omar did exactly what they expected him to do based off his emotions, and in the game it’s not wise to react off pure emotions. He should of sat on it, thought and planned it out, waited a little and then make a move. Marlo organization was gonna fall anyway. And because he reacted on emotions it made him a little sloppy and he slipped up. Hence kenard calling him gimpy, hence him having to walk with that stick cause of his leg. He was falling apart acting on rage and emotions. A big NO in the game.
