Were they used by the front lines? Rear Echelon? Maybe Both? HBTs can be a big anomaly for reenactors. Today's episode will try to answer that for you! Watch as we delve deep into their creation and development throughout World War II!
Special Thanks to the Smiley GI for providing us with CC2 examples as well as At the Front for their informative article on HBTs that helped make this video!

HBT's were indeed designed to replace the denim work uniform of the 1930's, but soldiers found them more comfortable as a field uniform for drill/PT (especially in warm climates). The early light shade was phased out mostly due to use in the Pacific, as the sage green stood out against the darker jungle terrain, so a darker shade was adopted to help blend in and not make soldiers deliberate targets. HBT's saw limited use in D-day, mostly due to supply issues getting them to the ETO in 1944, some Ranger and specialty units were able to get them, and some infantry units got partial sets (just shirts or pants), but by Market Garden, HBT's were becoming more common and saw use until the end of the war.

Huh, got mine from Amazon and they are pretty authentic, even coming with tags that date to the date of “making” depending on the shade of green. Cheap too for only $60 still being made out of the baumwolle cotton. With the 2nd pattern coming from rottennurg deutschland and the 3rd pattern coming from zwjpw.

i also thought he use of the Camo HBT's were removed because when they were worn/ broken in they would fade white and or brighter

Do you or any of the channel viewers know if the WWII issue HBT jackets from Spec PQD 45B and later ever came in a length other than Regular? I know the 1st pattern did have a Long size. If you're at least 6 feet tall and/ or wear a 34+ sleeve length, originals fit very short at the sleeves, even though the chest width is always oversized around 6-8 inches. Two suggestions for future videos. Is it possible to fill in black screen gaps with your new reenactment or original photos, or even a photo of the artist/ album for the song? Also narration is clear and paced well, but the volume and quality seems to modulate a bit between filmed portions and when still images are used. Looking forward to the next video, and bonus points for wearing mismatching shades.

Nice stuff, long time viewer but recent subscriber, the effort put into these is great, can we have an episode on m1 helmet insignias such as what divisions painted insignias upon their helmets? Those situations where that as allowed? And what paint and such is best for authenticity?

I can't find a repro 1st pattern other than SoF. I don't want to order from SoF due to the complaints of practically being robbed & then when you tell them about it they get rude tell you to go somewhere else. After they stole your $, lol. They kinda look like assholes in their advertising photographs looking all silly & frumpy.
