Liebe Freunde,
der letzte Tag der Ausstellung in Washington D.C ist angebrochen, laut Schätzungen des National Park Service befanden sich auf dem Gelände des Lincoln Memorial und dem Reflecting Pool ca. 146.000 Menschen in den vergangenen 12 Tagen .
Dies war auch bisher die weltgrößte Ausstellung von Holocaustüberlebenden im öffentlichen Raum. Ich selbst habe gefühlte 1 Millionen Gespräche führen dürfen - vor allem mit jungen Amerikanern, aber auch mit Menschen aus verschiedenen Ländern. Ihr könnt euch vorstellen wie groß die Resonanz gewesen ist.
Aber an dieser Stelle möchte ich gerne meinen Dank an die Menschen richten, die dazu beigetragen haben dies möglich zu machen.
Allem voran an die Protagonisten des Projektes - den Überlebenden.
Weiter möchte ich mich bei der German Embassy Washington, Hr. Botschafter Wittig und bei Hr. Dr. Buchwald bedanken sowie seinem grandiosen Team, Frau Burkholder und Hr. Laas, die mir jederzeit auch in kniffligen Situationen professionell geholfen haben
Bedanken möchte ich mich auch beim United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, ich fühle mich immer noch sehr geehrt mit einem der größten Holocaust-Museen auf der Welt zusammenzuarbeiten zu dürfen. Danke an Frau Sara Bloomfield, die Direktorin, an Diane Saltzman und ihrem fabelhaften Team.
Bedanken möchte ich mich bei vielen weiteren Menschen und Institutionen, unter anderem bei Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste (ASF) Mark McGuigan und den Freiwilligen , dem Goethe Institut, T-Mobile, der Stadt Mannheim, Carsten Ascheberg von Sigma und Rabbi Lustig, einem der besten Rabbiner der Welt.
Danke auch an mein fabelhaftes Team.
Für mich geht es schon am Mittwoch weiter nach Boston, um die Installation im Rahmen des Deutschlandjahres-USA vorzubereiten.

Dear friends,
the last day of the exhibition in Washington just started. According to estimates by the National Park service, there have been approximately 146 000 people on the area of the Lincoln Memorial and the Reflecting Pool in the last twelve days. I myself had the impression to have the chance to make around one million conversations - mainly with young Americans, but also with people from around the whole world. You can imagine how the response has been.
But at this point I want to thank the people that contributed to make it possible.
First of all, I thank all the protagonists in the project - the survivors.
Furthermore, I want to thank the German Embassy in Washington, ambassador Wittig and Mr. Dr. Buchwald as well his great team, Mrs. Burkholder and Mr. Laas who helped me at any time professionally in delicate situations.
I also want to thank the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. I still feel honoured to be able to work with one of the biggest Holocaust museums in the world. Thanks to Mrs. Sarah Bloomfield, the director, to Diane Saltzman and her fabulous team.
I also want say thank you to more people and institutions, among others, to Action Reconciliation - Service for Peace, Mark, Goethe Institut, T-Mobile, the city Mannheim, Carsten Aschenberg of Sigma and Rabbi Lustig, one of the best rabbis in this world.

On Wednesdays, I will already go to Boston in ordert o prepare the installation there in the context of the Germany-year-USA.
