I was there that day in 1971, Renfro Valley, Ky talked with Lester out behind the stage for a few minutes. the bluegrass singers were very friendly back then, they would hang around and talk with folks before and after singing on stage...It was a different time back then!
Many country musicians of that time period had also grown up poor and worked at hard labor in their younger years, having a better appreciation for their fans.
Lester Flatt is one of the 10 greatest singers ever. Nobody but nobody could sing a story like Lester. He could have you hanging on his every word. He is far and away the greatest bluegrass singer ever!
If you have it on vinyl , or tape , or CD, or any of the newfangled ways to record a song , don't throw it away ever. Pass it down to someone you know who will appreciate it and play it because it's never going to come back, it's fading more and more every year and one day will be gone for good, just MHO. 🎻
There's nothing harder than playing top notch "simple Bluegrass", but for a while these guys never ever did it any other way! Oh my goodness! In their prime! Just gatherin' 'round a few misplaced mics and nailing it perfectly, like the truly amazing, honestly straight forward musicians that they were! RIP Mac Wiseman!
An absolute classic by two Masters of Bluegrass. This is one of the first albums I ever heard that my dad brought home. I absolutely fell in love with both Mac and Lester and bluegrass music from this time forward. Thank you for sharing an absolute gem. RIP Mac & Lester
It doesn't get any better than this. I used to go see Mac in Richmond VA. in the fifties, I was just a young girl, I loved him then and still do. I am looking for the album he made then, it had a song about the moon, one about babe,or baby but I can't remember the titles anymore. Mac can you help me?

@@louiseschreiner4918 I Saw Your Face in The Moon is an old song that Mac used to do way back in the day. There's a youtube video of him doing it when he was real young.
So great hearing a variety of music . Allison is so good and grandma's Viagra song, gotta love it. Man or woman, group if it good give us all a listen. Hearing the same too 40 country songs over and over and over,,come on it's just too much. No excuse for the tiny amount of women being played on big country radio if it's good music. I so hope country wakes up and makes some changes because it's coming anyway. Why not now?
