Fabrication opens up so many possibilities in the hobby and inspires others to look at what is possible. RTRs are fantastic, capable and well appointed in most cases--however--not much can top the joy of creating something that catches another hobbyists eye and sparks a conversation about exchanging ideas. Thank you for providing a platform for that type of activity.
Thanks for the dedicated series!!!! So pumped to see these two monsters come together and crush the course…or at least look good getting crushed by the course!
Not gonna lie. When he announced it, I was surfing Amazon looking for a tig welder before reality hit me. I have too many projects in different stages of completion. I need to stop watching this stuff. It's getting out of hand. 😂
Hey Matt I actually just got done watching a documentary about Coors beer. Maybe a theme for your new build. Badass truck your building. Keep up the awesome work your doing Matt.
So far everything you've explained by 2:48 is how my sorcca group scores everything and is very scale focused 😊 my truck was usually 9.8 lbs and is about 8.3 after tuning
Thus year is going to be very cool. Can't wait to see how the f-toy comes out. I know how to weld. Spent a number of years doing it as a job, and in college. But... then my eyes became a issue. So it's not a career anymore. I want to keep at it as a hobby. But welding in my apartment could get us in trouble.... and my wife may not appreciate that hahaha. In time I'll get back to it. Space is for sure the issue I think you could figure out a way to do some hobby style tig welding. Even using a plain old wore feed. Very simple, and not the cleanest welds. But nothing some clean up can't fix. I learned on a plain old wall plug wire feed from Canadian tire, when I was 12. Then moved up from there. I think you could do it no problem. Your a smart dude. Anywho. Haha Great work man. 😎
Hey Matt, I have to let you know, that you have been a huge inspiration to in my crawler builds. Now I dont yet have the equipment for fabricating parts other then a PLA 3d printer but I make due with parts i can get my hands on. My current project is a mix of Element and Axial and finding the balance between performance and scale has been a ton of fun. It has caused me to put my "project 150mph" on the back burner for now. Thanks for what you do. Its funny, before I got into crawlers, I saw a little of your channel and was, "eh, this guy is boring." And now, I look forward to you videos.😁
Great vid, I’m in for the series. Not to comfortable with fabrication, but hacking up as much as needed when needed, is about as comfortable as I get. It’s painful to make mistakes that can only be made once so easy does it. I think a series like this, is a way for me to figure how much I can push with the skills I have now, and where I need to improve In order to attempt builds like this. Can’t wait to see the results.
I like this channel too much for my own good😂 wish we could get the goodies you get there in the states here in SA. But at least I get to watch you and Josh....guess that makes up for alot🙌🏼
Been away from RC for awhile, other priorities this year unfortunately. I've been watching bits and pieces of this build by Josh, and I am looking forward to getting the files and trying my hand at fabbing something and taking it to the next level. Hoping I have more time and a Budget to get back into the hobby I've been missing out on building. I've been focusing on getting some actual drive time under my belt so I don't feel like such a noob on the rocks. 😉🖖
“John Denver is full of shit man” Fabrication, my comfort level is a 1. Lots of great ideas. Just don’t always know where to start and worry about costly mistakes. I always look forward to see all the added details. Time to start planning that she shed.
Great video 👍 👌 my skill lv is probably low , but u want to learn 😉 especially the light welding , I've got an hot wheels rc project going on now thanks for sharing 👍
When i grow up i want to be just like you. this stuff is so cool. sometime soon i want to get into this stuff. i already have a 2021 trx4 bronco and a trx4 f150 i really enjoy them. thanks
always enjoy watching you two build your buggies. can't wait to see your detail work on the motors and interior .. anyone can weld up a chassis but it take talent to to detail it and make it look real
Great updates! I plan to order some steel rod from Stock Car Steel also. What size/rod type/thickness do you recommend (or did YOU buy)? I am a brazing noob but would like to start making some custom cages and perhaps later a buggy.
Your best bet is to start at Scale Metal Supplies! They’ve got everything you need and can help with all the decisions. I bought from SCS because I needed to buy in bulk, but SMS has a lot of additional parts to help make brazing easy.
Do you think induction heat would work with brazing a cage? They have several affordable options now, and I think the overall investment would pay off quickly with less consumables involved. I really want to try brazing out, but I don't have a spot to swing a flame around without burning down my house.
I won't claim to have seen every induction setup, but given the need for the coils to surround the work piece, I'm thinking not an option, especially at that size. Give silver solder a try as it requires lower temps. You can get some pretty small gas torches. You don't need a weldors/plumbers fuel/oxy kit. A little chefs butane torch will do the trick, but I've seen hobby torches with even smaller flame tips than those. And just use a couple fire bricks as a work surface. And if your house is so small you don't have room for that, then I must be replying to a 1/24th scale person! 🤣🤣🤣🤣😁
Sorry I'm new to the hobby, where you were talking about the classes being 1.9 or 2.2, what does that mean? Is it related to the inner diameter of the tires? That the only place I've heard 1.9 mentioned b4 iirc. Thanks!
If you lived in hot California you would wear berkeenstocks or even take your shoes off, even though in Canada when its "hot" it really isnt, what hot is considered.
