Lmao, watch this and say that ru-vid.comsHoZDodVELo?feature=share As much as I enjoy his music, the sad truth is the majority of artists today can't actually sing, but idm, the music's still good and you can't really tell there's autotune unless you see them live
@@he-dp3mk honestly so what? Even if they can’t sing well without auto tune, their creative ability still produces amazing songs for us to listen to for free
20 percent pitch correct 30 percent auto tune 50 percent reverb and echo. I have original starboy vocal stacks more then 15 vocal layers and harmony support vocals. actually he can sing but he's singing not acurate without those corrections. you can see his vocal process from house of baloon to dawn fm. his live always heavily live process. his vocals go thru machine to always make them sound studio like 100% accurate . he never sing on raw vocals. there is 2 type of live vocal process just autotune or single on preset already made. eg= Travis scott use live auto tune when he started rage he scream or humming high pitch and vocal can't process that and that wacky scream can heard . but when weeknd hit higher pitch in live it never sound bad or wacky it's run thouse ready made preset even hard higher notes it's smooth. I know this all because I'm hiphop rnb producer and live sound designer.
It’s definitely still tuned btw, even the “raw” vocal, ur just adding your own blatant auto tune, no hate I’m just staying even Michael Jackson had his studio vocals tuned at many points, obviously still a great singer tho
Anyone saying he isn’t a talented singer and can’t sing is frankly insane he uses effects for the purpose of the music in certain instances but it is for the artistry listen to his live at Sofi album and other live performances the way he performs live is commendable and shows how purely talented he is in every regard
@@yuh-fv7ds no they definently do. not sure about the autotune during live (probably there is) %100 sure compressors etc going on. and if you look at insights of his vocal mixing sessions, they have A LOT OF things going on too. It's not a bad thing to have your vocals produced, and have your vocals enchanced by the technology. and during these insights, every one of his vocals was processed by autotune. :D he is a great artist, amazing tenor with tasty falsettos. but the thing is, there are people on the background that makes you think like "his vocals are great as natural, he don't even need post-processing" but in reality, during our era of pop music. it's impossible for someone that mainstream to go without autotune.
have you ever seen live concert behind composer side. they already have studio vocal presets to run thru his vocals live. so there live never sound bad due to those presets. he use same vocal presets on live so even he's vocal cracks on live when he hit higher notes you never heard it because of that
@@shamrock7599it can, autotune also intrudocues certain tonal artifacts that are quite pleasnt to the ear, especially with his frequency range! the clear breathiness really shines. but obviously autotune aint the only contributing factor
So listen to the normal, and then the 100% Autotuned, and if you can’t really hear a difference it means the vocals were almost perfectly in-key (meaning some type of pitch correction or autotune was applied). If you do hear a big difference, then it means theres raw vocals and there actually wasn’t much autotune applied.
The Weeknd is one of those rare cases like Kanye where he has the flashy a list celebrity corporate and commercial stuff down, but if you look into his work the artistry is 100 percent there. Sort of like how Nintendo is with video games.
It’s not Autotune they use- it’s Melodyne. Melodyne allows you to manually edit notes on a grid as oppose to something like Autotune (which as the name would suggest) automatically shifts notes based on what it detects going into it. Melodyne tends to sound more natural (but it all honestly depends on how well both are being utilized in the style/context of a song).
As a producer everyone uses a bit of auto tune, what they mean by 100% auto tune is either retune speed (how fast it corrects you) and perfect pitch so if it lets you be off by a few cents or not. Almost Every major artist has a bit of auto tune added
@@rahuld2844 yes it’s an effect that emulates space or echo. When you hear a sound that drags on for a long time because it sounds like it’s in a big room, that’s usually reverb
Most artist that can sing just use auto tune for slight pitch correction , if they go offkey for a slight second that’s where the auto tune comes in clutch or again just for the vibe that the song gives off. Charlie puth does a good job explaining this in his song breakdowns.
I have recently been to his concert and not only he doesn't need autotune, he barely needs a microphone lmao. He also sang this song with a slightly different note and i fell in love with that version completely
I mean just because pitch correction is used doesn’t mean the vocalist can’t sing. It’s usually just to make it a little more polished, clean, or smooth. I know first hand that Abel can sing his ass off. It’s wayyyy more common that pitch correction is used than you think
He doesn’t use auto tune . I Think people need to look up what auto tune is. He does use other vocal affects he’s been doing it since his early music. That’s always been his thing.
i am a music producer and singer myself. The words “no autotune” is pretty much non existent in the music recording industry. All the artists, doesnt matter how good they sing, use some form of digital tuning to get the perfect vocals. The industry top producers always manually edit and tune the vocals using software like Melodine, while the others slap on autotune. You do not notice anything because tuning is always applied in subtle amount. Good examples of full autotune are literally all the hiphop songs that involve a rapper singing. That is what it sounds like when you use autotune in full strength; i.e a robot. This is why autotune in most of the songs are used to make the vocals perfectly fit into the instrumentals, fix minor pitch issues, and squeeze ever last drop of value from the artist’s performance :). ps. in case you are were still wondering, yes. yes the weeknd does use autotune in his songs.
I mean, yeah. That makes sense. They’re massive songs. Of course they’re gonna make it as good as possible. That’s like calling out Mr Olympia winners for using steroids
The guy might be able too sing even without autotune, but it doesn't change the fact that he just stole the whole music of the first one from the song Midnight Pretenders by Tomoko Aran (1983) 😂 He didn't even try to change it.
Lol tpain the weekend cher all people who have sung with autotune. Difference why there autotune sounds so crisp and crazy is they can actually SING so it’s an enhancer. I wish people understood that autotune is not just singing into a mic and makes your voice sound good 😂😂 you still have to be in the right key
Every artist uses pitch correction in studio recordings. It’s humanly impossible to sing perfectly in tune for every single millisecond of a song. It doesn’t mean these artists can’t sing. As an artist myself, I hate hearing my vocals even when they are only a couple cents off. So why not use pitch correction, especially when the tech is advanced enough to make it seem like there’s no pitch correcting happening?! Regardless, The Weeknd is one of the beat singers in the game right now. He doesn’t need/use them too often for live performances.
Can we please stop the autotune obsession? *EVERY* song has some sort of autotune or pitch correction. And yes he does need it. Every singer needs autotune because humans are not pitch perfect and it’s okay. He still sounds amazing regardless.
*The problem with autotune is that if you use too much of it, the audio jitters* *For example listen to Blinding Lights with autotune* *It goes "Oooh I'm blinded by the l-i-i-ghts* *See, it jitters, it's hard to notice but there is a little bit of a jitter*
I call cap, these sounded like you added autotune onto the songs themselves, especially on Blinding Lights. I think everyone knows that song by heart and I'm 100% certain that the original song DO NOT sound like the 100% autotune version
Fun Fact: Every good artist uses Autotune!. That doesn't mean everyone has to use it as T-Pain used it🙏 It's 2023 and still people didn't crack the code
I’ve spent the past 20yrs working out of a professional studio, learning the tricks of the trade. I always find it funny when people speak their opinions as facts. The Weeknd struggles with pitch control & key. He is no where in the stratosphere with a Mariah Carey or any of the true singers & vocalists. This is coming from someone who really enjoys The Weeknd’s music. I’ve deconstructed his tracks & reverse engineered it. He’s not garbage but they clean him up quite nicely in the studio.
I think he uses a bit of it in the studio because songs made for radio they want them to sound outstanding and perfect as much as possible But he is one of the few that can also sing live and sound exactly like his radio version, Ofcorse everyone is human and some live events may not be as good because the human body has ways of messing that up like allergies and colds and tired, all kinds of things
I was told by a producer A lot of artist use auto tune that doesn't mean they can't sing. Its mostly there to clean up the vocals and blend it with the song. Kinda like rendering a photo. The problem is when artist can't sing and rely too much on auto tune. I'm sure there are some technical words for this. This is essentially what I was told by a producer.
I believe the Weeknd is this era's Michael Jackson, hands down!! Like Mike, he needs no auto tune, & he the only person worthy enough to have the "king of pop" stamp passed down to him💯👑🤴🏽
Bruh 😂 he uses Autotune. All singers use a form of pitch correction whether it comes from Autotune or Melodyne. This video proves nothing. All you’re doing is adding Autotune on vocals that are already processed which most likely already have Autotune/melodyne on them, only way you’d be able to tell is if you had the original raw recording with no processing on them.
Guys, he use it just with slow attack, come on, you can even prove it on 2 videos "mix with the masters", illangelo showed that he used melodhne and antares autotune for his 2 tracks - alone again and after hours
Autotune doesn’t always have 100% retune speed (which is what causes the robotic sound you’re familiar with). It can be used for minor correction throughout the course of a song and with a slow enough retune speed and if you allow the processing to mess up sometimes then it’ll still be autotune, just very hard to hear it working.
I'm pretty sure there's definitely some vocal tuning, but it's either light auto tune or manual pitch correction. However the Weeknd is an excellent singer, and it's most likely for polish.
