I’m a real-life SR22 pilot, and I fly the new TorqueSim SR22TN from San Carlos to Lake Tahoe, and along the way I review the airplane and discuss techniques and procedures for flying the SR22.
Thanks Tim. Great information from a Cirrus pilot. Love to hear the practice aspects to the flight routine in the Cirrus. Look forward to further content you might provide.
Enjoyed your video very much. Thank you for sharing your expertise. Much appreciated. We need more people like you that is willing to go deep into explaining the WHY,s and HOW,s for the love of flight simming. I see that you have a couple more videos about this aircraft. This video made me a better simmer. Thanks. Please continue sharing.
I really appreciate this excellent tutorial from a real world SR22 pilot. This is exactly how I like to learn before flying it in the sim. Thanks Tim! Cheers
Fantastic video ! I was on the fence about buying this one as I already have the AFM M20 and this seems to do the same sort of thing but slower, but by the time you were descending into Tahoe I was downloading the SR22 :)
Great video! I enjoy watching people fly the sim version of the planes they fly IRL Your commentary on the how, what and why on flying the real SR22 makes for more interesting and involving sim sim experience. I sure hope this bird is ported over to FS2020.
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does any of you know of a way to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the account password. I love any help you can give me
@Joshua Dennis thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Hey Tim, Great video, it's good to see that this pleases even real world pilots, I think I will give it a buy! What are you using for the camera? Xplane default track ir is terrible. Cheers!
There is a HUGE difference between the G1, G2, and the higher generations. Starting with the G3, the wing is the big difference. At first, you might think it’s just taller with better prop clearance, but the wing is the biggest improvement ever made to the SR22. I have flow the G1, G2 and the generations that came after. I have over 2,500 hours in the SR22. The wing spar is a one piece carbon fiber that goes from wing tip to wing tip. This was not the case with the G1 or G2. The dihedral of the wing was also increased which gives the G3 and future generations a much smoother and stable flight. If I had to make one single recommendation to anyone it’s this. Buy a G3 or later generation. The G3 is basically the modern generation of the plane. Also, the G3 did not come with Garmin perspective avionics. The G3 came with the old Avidyne avionics and Garmin 430s
Hi Tim, thank you for helping me understand the operation of this aircraft. The manual does a piss poor job of it. What are those MP/FF targets for in the menu? And for your interest, the vents do indeed open and move.
Awesome video and great help for this simulation. Tim, which Cirrus has the speed brakes on the wings? I remember seeing a video on the Cirrus and the girl talking was pointing out the speed brakes that could be used at any speed to slow down.
The cows name is Milkshake. She is the travel buddy of Stefan Drury on his RU-vid channel where he flies his SR22 around Australia. TorqueSim made a skin with his plane (VH-EYZ) and livery and they included Milkshake. Looks like you all get to ride with Milkshake. You can see where he takes this sim for a run here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-72tMPqeOWE4.html
Awesome video mate! Nice tips from a fellow real life SR22 pilot! If I may I have two quick questions. Does this aircraft have much of an impact of frame rates over the stock X Plane Aircraft? Also are you using TrackIR and if so what are your thoughts on using it with this Aircraft? Thanks in advance! :)
According to the Add-on Manager, I think it will cost you about 3-5 FPS. I use TrackIR with X-Camera, and I don't have any particular thoughts about using it with this aircraft; it's the same as with any other aircraft :)
Hey Tim great video. What are you using to look around the cockpit? Looks like Track IR. If so what are your settings, it looks so smooth when your looking around.
Tim, Not sure if you’ll see this comment but I’m searching for info on why my system has serious problems running the TorqueSim SR22 at anything close to acceptable frame rates. I have a decent system which runs most all the default aircraft just fine at 30 plus fs. Any thoughts on configurations? Much appreciated.
Nice looking airplane. Wish the cow was a bobble head :) Hey question for you on the real airplane. I'm looking at buying an airplane in the relatively soon time frame. I tried a 22 a few years ago at Oshkosh but it felt a little small in the leg room. I'm 6'7" I didn't want to mess with their status display. I fit in a 172/182 with no problems. How would you classify the legroom in your airplane? Thanks for the video!
I'm 6'5" and I have no complaints. The SR22 is one of the roomiest airplanes in the high performance GA fleet, probably beat only by the PA24. The TTx, the Mooney, the Bonanza, all wish they were as roomy as the Cirrus.
The cow is called Milkshake and comes from the real-life plane of RU-vidr Stefan Drury ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-72tMPqeOWE4.html
Just starting to watch the video and already got an instant question: what do you use to move camera? It looks quite realistic, as if you were sitting in a real Cirrus with a GoPro or something.
Great video. I just bought this sim plane. I also have a 2005 G2 SR22. What is the iPad looking tablet on the right side of the autopilot stack? I agree with you about starting the engine. Much easier in the real plane.
BTW. The next time you obliterate your cup holder, here is the replacement. Easy DIY job. Did it myself a couple months ago. Took about 15min. www.ultimatecupholders.com/fischercupholder.html
hi tim any idea how to control de airleron trim banks hard left all the time, calibrated joystick etc, i place the mouse on the stick where the trim is but i click that an noting happns it says you can cheqcj position onthe instrument pannel but i dont see where to check or change aileron trim, thanks
You should bind a hat switch to aileron and elevator trim like in the real plane. I don’t think you can click anywhere. In the real plane there is no aileron trim indicator. You look to the left and see how the aileron lines up with the wing.
None of the menus you show come up after I have loaded nor can I pick up anything with my mouse even though it shows the hand. There is no red side menu to get to the screens you show the the beginning for me. Can someone help pls? Thanks
