I checked flight prices. Non stop (70 minutes) from UTP to USM is $244 USD or 8600 Baht at todays exchange rate. So the ferry is over half the cost plus you get to take your bike. The trade off is the long boat ride compared to flying.
That’s a good option but we wanted to experience the ferry which felt more like a cruise and it was enjoyable 👍 Thanks for watching & making a comment 🙏
Hope you guys have a fun trip! It is nice to have folks to run around with. I appreciate the budget aspect of your adventures. You can see and do more when you keep things reasonable. Can't wait to see more of the island!
Hi Jason, sorry I can't leave you alone but I'm hooked! Lol. 1000bht for that room, I think I prefer Jason's adventures 👍 don't be too much in awe mate 🙏
Wow! Sealed roads! Last time I stayed in Lamai all the roads, including the main one heading north, were gravel. The local medical clinic did a roaring trade in patching up motorcyclists who had serious abrasions (and worse). They had photos on the walls in an effort to make people aware of the conditions. Must be so much safer now.
@@goodvibespattaya2423 1995. And it was so beautiful. So much sublime scenery in Thailand. Favorite spot was Raleigh beach and surrounding areas, near Ao Nang, as well as Phi Phi Is, staying in a very basic grass hut up on a hill.
Really looking forward to your Samui adventure Jason . I liked the island when away from Chaweng & Lamai . Since 2 year Covid shutdown it looks a shadow of its former self . Was that 3k capsule a sweat box for cat napping ? As I've seen the facilities & comfort levels of that vessel they are far superior to any VIP 1st class coach or 1st class sleeper train I might have opted for foot passenger if on budget . Have a great time mate
Thanks Paul, yeah I was here in June last year and it was dead back then, this year it is actually pretty busy. The capsule was okay but you need to leave the curtain open a little to let the air in, otherwise it was good and enjoyable 👍👍 Thanks mate
It goes over night I believe.. So youl be asleep for most of it. There was entertainment on board when it first started? It may have been cut due to low numbers of passengers?
Having done the trip from Port Melbourne to Tassie & back many Decades ago, I can say that trying to sleep in seats is a really bad option. Having the sleeper capsule is well worth it just from a comfort perspective imo. Hope the 3 of you have a great time, as I'm sure you will. Great company makes for great times. Enjoy Jas. ;)
Thanks mate, the ocean was absolutely calm as, no swell whatsoever and a really enjoyable experience. Yes, great friends even though I’m the third wheel, Cooper and Darlen are really good friends 👍
Here’s a link showing the Blue Dolphin in Japan before being sold to a Thai company. It’s cool because it shows the front opening up to disembark. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BfhswxCodAA.html
The ferry won't be around for long... It's running virtually empty on most days other than the Thai Holiday weekends... When a family takes a car it works out expensive, very expensive for the average Thai... Also the demand isn't there for the regular sailings needed to make money.
Yeah I think your right, today is the last ferry until August, annual maintenance they told us. So we are going to Surat Thani by ferry and riding back via Hua Hin
How much was the cabin on the ferry because there is no way I would have got in those pods( far too claustrophobic) ☹️☹️ Great price for your room on the island, I guess low season price .
Hi Jason, see the ferry advertised and wondered how much it was so good heads up. Was it pretty calm? I’ll be honest, I’m not good on the water and my preference would be to fly. I see you mention about flying from Bangkok, but you can fly from U Tapao for around 6,000 return, plus an 800 baht taxi from Pattaya so all in around 7,600 baht return. Obviously, the benefit on the ferry is taking your bike which I’m sure will be a blast. I’ve been there twice and love the island. That room looks great value at 1,000 baht. Enjoy.
G’day Keith, mate the water is so calm you barely realise you are on a boat, almost zero movement. Yeah U-Tapao is a great option, we just wanted to experience it, I love the island too, much busier than when I was here in June last year. Thanks mate 👍
Hi Amanda, unfortunately the ship is not currently operating but you can check their Facebook page facebook.com/fb.theseahorseferryofficial?mibextid=LQQJ4d
Great value accom/pool considering location and super cheap f & b for Samui.....Good find..................................never heard of dual pricing on ferries b4......national parks, sure and Bangkok Airways resident 30% discount, again well known, but ferries, that's a first for me.....................................gotta say though, even if one was to pay 500b for a one way from Patts to Samui on foot, that's great value if you don't mind toughing it............................................thoroughly enjoyable vid...........................
The ferry isn't just competing against flights to koh samui.. Which are high due to monopoly in place. They also compete against the much cheaper flights to Krabi, phuket etc etc...
@@martynrollinson I understand and depends but you want but good vibes only mentioned flying from Bangkok and the cost. Just saying there is a choice from a nearer airport. But if you want to chill and have the time the ferry is a good option especially if you are a cheap Charlie and don’t pay for a cabin.
@@goodvibespattaya2423 yes..i saw that page & their website, but booking option is no where.. could you suggest any other ferry service to ko samui from pattaya pls
@@rakeshr5135 there are no others from Pattaya but you can fly direct from U-Tapao airport near Pattaya otherwise it’s a 12 hour drive to Surat Thani to catch the ferry across to Samui
Jason, how much was your friends room on the Ferry, and also at the hotel. I would have liked to see their Pool Villa. I bet the Pool Villa was Very Nice, because your room looked Really Nice!!
7200 baht and pool villa 3000, watch tomorrow’s video for a two bed pool villa we are moving too. I didn’t get a chance to video before they unpacked 👍
I’m around chewang but I can head down to lammi but I only know of silver beach on the right hand side bar restaurant but there is the Bondi bar at lammi which I can try and find Sorry I n very little of that area it was over twenty years ago that I stayed there Or you can come to chewang and head to the islander on Soi 2 or beach road always has the coldest beer and a good selection of food
@@goodvibespattaya2423 ok let me know it’s about a 10 min ride I’ve been to Samui over 30 times but mainly the chewang area now living here for good Let me know
@@goodvibespattaya2423 you need to get upto the jungle club the very is sensational Between lammi and chewang left hand side going up the hill if you want a good view of Samui
