Yeah it wasn’t as bad as I feared initially, some bent axes and heads snapped off but only about 15 minutes of clean up work. Form the sound of the impact I genuinely thought it was going to be a total loss.
Oddly, this made me realize how much I kind of what something that is almost the opposite of this: Body sprues. I've got plenty of arms for a lot of my kits, but always at a want for bodies to put them on. If I could get a single sprue the same size as the others, but with nothing but legs and torsos in various poses, then I could probably put twice as many sprues worth of arms, heads, and weapons on there.
That’s a neat idea, they could even blend bodies from some of their different kits into a kind of “Dark Age Warrior” sampler set. I could see that being useful for RPG’s as well.
Aye, although I will say I meant this even as a general deal. I don't have a lot of medieval stuff right now, but I do have a lot of WW2 models. I love the feeling of having finally used every bit on a sprue, but it usually happens once and then never again for a type of sprue.
I found that what I really wanted was "fantasy lances"...later period lances with vamplates. I'm still planning on picking this up, as I'm a kitbasher and it'll all get used somewhere. Thanks for the review!
Hoping your hobby accident is not that bad and damaged items can be recovered. A few years ago i has a simliar misshap when my wifescgigourous vacuuming around my hobby room pulled down a cloth terrsin sheet with a freshly painted unit of Napoleonic 95th Rifles resting waiting to be stored away. The repairs took awhkle and only one figure w ass a complete rightoff. Great review, i bought one of these kits for kitbashing and I was really just after the cloaks and shields. Personally a bits kit of open hands, and assorted weapons, and arms with open hands is top of my wish list.
Yeah not too bad in the end, sounded much worse than it was. Thank god they weren’t painted, and sorry to hear you went through something similar with finished models. A weapon conversion kit definitely needs to be done, especially once they release their Foot Sergeants and can start including pole arms in the mix. I can see something like that being popular with role playing games as well as mass battle games.
Yeah what’s there is all top notch as usual from Victrix, just wish it had some more head variants. Looking forward to seeing what other conversions sets they release.
😲😍 this is a lovely sprue kit with so many options.... so many ideas in my head now 😅 keep up the good work brother 🔥🤘❤️ also hope not much lost in accident.... im sure you can save some i hope with your passion and skill man 💪
Great to see what these actually look like. I'm thinking about getting the new skaventide box for AoS but I hate the design of the new Stormcast helmets. I saw someone else replaced their heads with fantasy knight helmets and it sold me on the swap. If I get the box I'll be picking up this sprue as well.
That’s a cool idea I hadn’t considered. The sculpting is excellent, Victrix is definitely the only company with bitz that could mix in with GW from a quality standpoint. Also those Skaven models make me want to pick up GW models again for the first time in a while.
My question for Victrix is... Why are so many of these helmets cylindrical? For example look at the Fireforge Games Albion Knights set; that has great variety in helmet-shapes. Many that aren't "basically a cylinder with stuff on it". Why can't we have that here?
I think it’s because the original intention of this kit was to provide helmets for Teutonics and alternate Bretonnians, all of which would have been based on a flat top “great helm” style design. If you look at my Medieval Knight review you’ll see a lot more helmet variety on the core knight sprue, and from early renders it looks like they’ll have even more variety to mix in with their upcoming Foot Knights and Serjeants kits.
Yeah they’re not my favorite from a design or sculpting standpoint, and almost feel like they were tacked on to fill out the set. The rest of the kit is excellent, however.
