Congratulations on 10k Subscribers. Your Knowledge of Veneer Logs is Fantastic. I do know what you mean by Grubs in the White Oak and you can not tell until you Cut it down. Also Carpenter Ants in White, and Red Oak. You start cutting up your Firewood and bang loaded with Ants. We sure could learn alot from each other in the types of Wood. A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, (SAFETY IN THE FELLING DEPT), AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR. RON FROM THE WOODYARD IN DUANESBURG NY.
Glad ya dig it. There’s a tremendous amount of misinformation and B.S. out there that does nothing but retard our industry’s growth. It also leads to states passing ridiculous regulations that are bad for land owners and loggers. We have an education problem in this industry and it makes no sense.
I hope folks appreciate the value of being able to have someone essentially stand over our shoulder with real Experience sharing what he’s learned from doing it, and doing it successfully for years. Question: when you get grub in white oak is that automatically a lumber log, or do they try and cut some veneer out of it?
Good discussion , i have seen a couple of cruisers do core samples on white oak and soil test , however there were big bidders on said timber. Great job !! MERRY Christmas and many blessing's your way .
Some beaut walnuts. Esp the veneer! I've seen grubbier white oak. That second white is a true beaut. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week ahead man. Keep er safe.
Kudos on 10K; quite a feat. Takes experience to see those defects from the ground and know beforehand whether or not a tree will (probably) make veneer. I usually still can't tell until I have made a cut or two with the sawmill. 😉
How do you merchandise a tree once it's on the ground? Would love to see a video where you cut a tree to mill specs and explain how you get the most money out of a tree. Loving the content and learning a lot! Merry Christmas and thanks for the videos.
Trees are always dont count your chickens until they hatch. In northern wisconsin we get frost cracks all the time that show up deep in the trunk and drive the price down. We've adjusted😂. Have a Merry Christmas.
I'm wondering what price you get for veneer white oak, Where I am in So Mo most of our nice white oaks go for whiskey Barrels at $2.50 a bd ft. Not sure which is a better price.
