I LOVE Charly McClain's voice.. I grew up with the 70's and 80's Country. My favorite.. but I do LOVE Sugarland (Seen them live) and some of the others. They may not be Country, but they are talanted.
tulsa2stepper- if your still out there i couldnt agree with you more, altough some of these songs can tear the heart right out of me-- how i miss the drive ins,big hair, fast cars without all citizens reporting on you with there cell phones no mips! and i guess being younger-- my friends have grown up my god i hope i never have to----- cheer's to the good old days, harpozzzzz
Thank you so much for posting this. This is one of my favorite Country songs. I'd love to find a wife like Charly McClaine. She's beautiful and very talented.
i sing this song in shows were i sing like her and 40 others and am so happy to hear all your comments i know this will be a good one for me to record after my singing parts in a couple of movies im about to be in mad dog justic ,i want this on an album for my grandbabies
+Michelle Mantle I have also loved it since 1977. I was 18 and my husband was 40 when he asked me to become his wife. No one understand why I would ever consider marrying a man 22 years older than myself. My answer, "I would rather be an ole man's darling, than a young man's slave any day of the week!" My husband passed away February 2, 2014 from Prostate cancer. This is the song he picked out to be "Our Song." I listen to it when I miss him.
@tulsa2stepper yeh and I was there from Johnny Horton to the present......and I can tell you there was a lot of good country music going way back my friend........
My wife and I went to see her in Marshall Tx. I sat right by the isle and had worked a 14 hr shift. And I went to sleep.Next thing I know someone was tapping me on the shoulder, it was Charly, standing in the isle next to me,she was grinning and still singing, my wife moved over and she sat next to me and sung the next song,After she finished I apologized for going to sleep and explained I had worked 14 hrs .She said that's OK. and went back onstage, but it embarrassed the crap out of me.
THANK you for posting this. I love her! And great job on the editting too! My dad was named Charles and I was named a feminine version but not Charly, always wished i was especially after she hit the scene. (and 4 the perfume) here's a big woo whoo for you & keep 'em coming! :-O
@Kilroy Jones You may have been embarrassed, but had I (being a single guy) been in your place that night, I would have thought it was a sweet gesture. She seemed to love her fans then, & maybe still does although she has long since retired from music. Happy 30th wedding anniversary to her & Wayne in any case.
they released a 2 cd set from england or europe that has a lt-the most of charlie, but its crazy expensive- you can get 2 or3 on amazon for about 8$ including postage, plus the liquor bill , other song that come to mind-someday soon, stampley and boggus, a lot of mickey gilley, mel mc daniel, gary morris. rodney crowell, google up the top selling/airplay songs- i would say pick 1-2 hundred for each year , and feel what its like to be a mortal human, key words: ennui, angst, existential crisis.
Sorry it took me a while to respond,no I from Colorado but we had about 8 in the metro area now,of course, there are none and every one has a cell phone to report your ass and put you in a corporate prison, as a slave laborer. She tears me up-its funny tears (crying) and being ripped apart are spelled the same here. Most of her songs are like that and since we are not constantly bombarded by them they take us back to bittersweet ground zero. remember-burgers and fries by charley pride, OUCH!
Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, Sugarland, and many more, should all sleep at night with this type music playing, all night. Maybe they could learn to sing like this, instead of that " puke crap" they put out.
