My guess would be just about anyone on here that wins this will have to sell it. Taxes alone are too high and if you are a working class person you have no use for this car but a huge use for a pocket full of cash to put down on a house.
DragonChaser 928 what do you mean pay the car off? If he's giving it away it's already paid off. You have to pay taxes on anything given to you especially something this expensive. In order to keep this car you will have to pay I'm guessing over 50,000 -70,000 dollars. Makes and models and stradman can't pay that for you.
Don't want to buy merch? Here you go: "Eligible Entrants also have the option to obtain five (5) Sweepstakes entries via mail by legibly hand-printing, on a 3”x 5” card or paper, their full name, complete mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address, and mailing the card in a #10 envelope, with proper postage affixed, to: Supercar Mafia “project570xx" Sweepstakes, PO Box 956, Macedon, NY 14502-0956. You may submit as many postal entry requests as you wish, but each request must be mailed separately. All entries must be postmarked by December 15, 2018 and received by December 20, 2018."
You dont own the car, Makes and models does. They are just letting you market the hell out of this scheme for 4 months. Plus its shady not to verbally tell your fans its U.S only!
Its only for USA residents but he wants everyone around the world to buy his stuff that's shady indeed. Other than that dont see why you call it a scheme. The dealership owns the car. They profit on a raffle by selling clothes and give the car away. You dont think they will actually give it away? Do some math on a lower 6.5 percent conversion rate of sales at an average price of 25$ per sale. Given the sheer magnitude of subscribers, at a low 6.5% conversion rate they can pull nearly 2m$ on this raffle. These numbers are just an example of what is possible with a scaleable business model. The percentage of people who buy could be higher or lower. Some might buy more than 25$ worth. With this math you can see that even if im halfway wrong on this and they only get half the amount of sales, that would still be 1m$ at 3% conversion. Given that this isnt just a holiday purchase of a t-shit but a raffle for such a prize, I would guess that the numbers will be MUCH higher than in my example.
The shirts they're selling for entries cost 24.99. He has almost 1 million subs, lets say 50k subscribers decide to buy and participate he ends up with $1.2 million and thats just my estimate there coulb be mlre people buying. I personally dont care man think about it for only 25 bucks u have a chance of getting that car if not you bought a cool shirt! He obviously ain't gonna give a supercar for free, I wouldn't and must of you wouldn't! Its not how business is done. Smart move dude James.
It's hilarious when people say he didn't buy it. He bought it and makes and models is going to upgrade it. If this contest does well he could do this over and over again while someone who buys a shirt for $25 could own a supercar.
I see a honest and relaxt James, that a haven't seen in a very long time. Can't believe you just had 1500 subs back when you fixed the fuelpump on the TT, the time i subbed. Time flies! Stay safe ✌
The video was all honesty. He's teaming up with makes and models so he can give someone there dream. That's more than I can do for anyone so I support him all the way.
T-shirt sweepstakes gonna make this guy 1 million. It’s super corny they aren’t even gonna Pay the taxes after making all that money but hey...the next Tai Lopez in the making
I'll buy a shirt and put money towards your bank and future. But just in return can you pay the tax for whoever wins the car. It would be a absolute shame if someone won their dream car but don't have the the money to pay in taxes. Don't get me wrong, option two for $75,000 cash is amazing too. But it's no 570s..
😭 I am lost for words😔 I am kind of disappointed. I like the 570!!!☹️☹️😪😪. Do what you want though straddy. + an aventador or a murcy would be great!!!!!😂😂😂 but get a project car!!!
Damn I was looking forward to seeing another 570S on a youtube and I know you'd be driving the hell out of yours too! The giveaway will be a huge success though no doubt. Good luck!
What are you gonna do when you hit 1 mil subs?! When I hit 10K subs I'm going to start my crowdsource built wide body m3 drift car and actually do a legitimate giveaway. Always love your content man!
the reason people are angry is because you keep calling what is actually a raffle, a giveaway. they are different EDIT: according to the official rules you CAN actually enter for free but they have a bunch of stipulations like needing a hand written letter (very strict on this)
Either way it's a great thing for both parties. They get some money, and one lucky viewer will get the car. plus we all get to see the cool stuff he does with the car.
Let’s all take a step back and realize that this is a business for James. Partnering with other people and creating a new company is a smart business move for him. He’ll get extra subs from this, extra views from the content, and make money from a new business on the side with supercarmafia.com. I find it hard to fault him for continuing to be innovative and increasing his income. Solid business move, James. Keep up the good work.
Bro stop calling people retards because you didn't have the money for the lawyers you needed to be in compliance with laws and regulations in reference to giveaways and sweepstakes. I feel like you're just angry someone is doing this before you LOL "I had this idea first..." whatever bro
You're purchasing, but receiving mercy in return. So because you are receiving a piece of merchandise for your money it's not illegal. If you were accepting payment with no guarantee of anything in return it IS illegal lol
What do you get if you buy a lottery ticket and lose? A piece of paper. Here you get a shirt and a chance to win a badass car. And look up rafle laws and then read Strad's official rules. This is not a raffle.
It is not a giveaway. It is called pimping out merch for profit to be eligible for a getting struck by lightning 3x in a day chance at getting a McLaren.
Only Usa residents are eligible also excluding NY and FL. That really narrows it down actually. Sure still a ton of people but hey your chance is much better than the lotteries we hear about. Dont spend your last 100k just in case you might need to pay the taxes on your new mclaren Lol
I don't get it, the official rules says "A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING", but it also says "Eligible Entrants who purchase online will receive one (1) additional entry for each $5.00 of merchandise purchased". It clearly improves your chances of winning by purchasing things???
It’s not illegal , you need to give something in return , which is why your buying merch , you get merch in return of your 5$ It is illegal for you to spend the 5$ and not receive anything
“NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING” this is the first thing posted in the official rules, but I though you had to make a purchase to get entered, also purchases do improve your chances. The more money you spend the more entries. So I’m confused.
Keep reading... Call Me Exus Do you know if you have to be 18 or older to enter the giveaway, I am 16 so just wanted to know if I should enter or my parents, and it didn’t say anything either way in the rules
Important fact in the rules!!!!....your social security number has to be given and the car will be reported as 1099 income plus state taxes. As I see it you better have 50 grand laying around. I’ll pass.
Lamborghini LP640-4 Murcielago Roadster + Lamborghini Gallardo manual James... I'm a Porsche guy, to be honest with you, I don't really like Lamborghini's that much, but by the fact that you are living your dream's, as a petrolhead. I could not be more happy for you. Congratulations! Cheers from Brazil! Hope you come here some day for some Off-road adventures!
He's hopeless. The comments in the prior video absolutely flame him, but he doesn't even touch the real issues. Can't wait to see the dumb schlub who wins Strad's fake car and is then greeted with a huge gift tax from the feds. Classic
It seems like many people aren't reading the rules. There's 3 ways to enter: signing up for a subscription, buying merch, or mailing in an entry as many entries as you want as long as they're mailed in separately. As for taxes it's filed under 1099 tax form which is for self employed/income not from an employer. I've used the QuickBooks, Jackson Hewitt, Tax Act and other tax calculators and the estimated tax I'm getting is $21,129. That's still a lot, but not as high as many of the other estimates I've been seeing. It's about $1000-$3000(depending on dealer and warranty most owners say $1200) for the annual service from Mclaren, $150-$350/month in insurance(my quotes), and $800 to a $1000 for a set of tires every other year. They're very reliable cars and as long as you keep up with maintenance and don't drive it like a teenage fuckboy you should be good. I've read a couple of McLaren bloggs and many of them say there cars are only in the shop for the annual service or tire changing.
Still way too much money for an average person making $50k a year to maintain. In fact, your quoted tax rate and even maintenance fees are going to vary a lot depending on the state of residence for the winner.
Plus don't forget you must travel ($) to Salt Lake City in the middle of WINTER to pick up the car. Then you have to pay fed taxes immediately upon pickup. Then you have to pay to transport the vehicle to your state & if that's on the east coast that will be $2000. Then some states have Excise tax which will be $5000 after you put it on the road. Probably $5000 a year to insure. There might be a gas guzzler tax as well & maybe a luxury tax. I'd just take the cash option of $75,000, you'd end up with 50k after taxes. But then there's that video you have to be in at the "prize ceremony" that you'll have no right to. This whole thing is a SCAM...lol
Well yea this would all be based on what state you live in it was just and example with the little info they give. Other than the tax estimate all the other quotes are legit quotes I got from extensively searching around or talking to diff reps. But they do pay for 1 round trip ticket(unless they live 150 or less miles away then they have to pay for transportation) and 1 night in the hotel. So other than having to ship it out which would be a one time fee(most states offer a transport tags for a lower fee so you could drive it back and with year round or winter tires you should be fine if you know how to drive well. seen a couple of these drive on snow covered road in the alps and did well) and taxes which would a be one time fee everything else would be relatively cheap(using that word lightly) for a supercar in my financial standpoint I probably wouldn't be able to afford this car full price until I'm in my 30 or 40so this is way more affordable . But to someone else it may be outrageously high. This of course is under the presumption that they will be giving you the car as used. Since I have seen him driving it and what not I would think so, unless it's super low mile that it can still be sold as new but I doubt that. If it's used there's no gas guzzler tax and you only pay luxury tax if the vehicle value went up or the previous owner didn't pay it. But the excise tax would be $12,000. I'm NOT saying it's cheap at all that first year is going to hit the bank hard, but after that you shouldn't be paying that much. So $1,500 for transport or temporary tags fee, $12,000 excise tax, $21,129 tax, $100 registration fee totals $34,629 which is high, but you don't have to pay the excise until you register the car in my state so you can save up some more money if needed. That $12,000 makes a big difference tho. I know myself and some other people who would be cool with just tracking it no need to title or register it and only need insurance for track days. Buy a trailer and use it as a track vehicle I'd be happy with that, not as happy as being able to also drive on the streets. If I did street drive it With my PERSONAL quotes the continuous fees would be:$3,300/yr for insurance, $1,800 if I get street and track tires (should last 2yrs), $1,200ish/yr for yearly service so about $6,300 on those years you have to buy tires and $4,500 in a normal year. Cost for tires, services, and insurance will go down over time. That's about 1.5-2 months salary honestly not bad I always thought it would be closer to 8 or 9 grand. I thought about the $75,000 I could do a lot with that but you could also sell the car for way more than $75,000 or what you would ever spend on it as a owner. But this is all speculation as nobody's won and even if I do win my just take the money less hassle really. I don't think it's a scam if someone really wins and get to choose between the prizes, but if it's like leave or rent for a year then yea that's fucked up. He is a successful blogger so I would expect that they would want to record the prize reveal and what not with the winner small price to pay for a $200,000 car or $75,000.
@@integrafreak1 thank you I will, you have a good one too. I wasn't trying to be mean just trying to be honest sorry if it came off mean to you. It wasn't my intention
@@Mamba116 People buy shirts and hats on the web site and are entered into the raffle. Its pretty obvious he will recoup all costs and profit a shit ton on the raffle, given the amount of attention it garnered due to such a prize. Monetizing a merch store by pedalling everyone to buy and enter the drawing while not everyone will be eligible to win and more so few will be able to afford to keep it.
I don't know why some are still butthurt over this. If you don't like it, don't enter. No one is forcing you. It's a sweepstake with no purchase needed to win a McLaren 570s. Read the rules to see if you are eligible and if you are interested go for it. Seriously, do some of you make a big deal like this when Doritos has a contest for a Xbox?
Guys just think logically for stradman - what he is doing is pure genius social media marketing. “Enter a chance to win a SUPERCAR ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS BUY A 24.99 t shirt and you get 5 entries right!? How awesome is that. Yes it’s super awesome for stradman if a simple 25,000 people buy the shirt that equals $624,000 ... that’s me lowballing. If 50,000 people buy that shirt which is more likely based off his channel - that’s roughly 1.2 MILLION dollars in his pocket for a car that cost him less then 600k. So he walks away being a great guy giving away a super car and still making over half a million 💪🏻💡 genius
Yeah right because more people are going to go to the mail box and mail something for 1 entry instead of just buying a t shirt with one click to get 5 entries. 👍🏻🤦🏼♂️
Replace "giveaway" with "raffle". Should've "given" a cheaper car plus cash to cover the taxes, not everyone has 70k to spare on the bank. But you're not really giving away anything you're going to profit on sales of your merch and content. You said giveaway like 1000 times.
I thought ppl were over-reacting on his announcement, they were crying cuz they cant afford a sportscar but you still have a chance to win 75,000 and it wasnt good enough for them. BUT he doesnt address any of the major problems ppl have in this video. That makes me a tad bit curious as to why, seems shadey or he cant due to legal issues?
Lol maintenance issues with aventador, are you KIDDING, then says wants to buy a murcielargo the one car that has more issues than a bucket full of holes, more like your being cheap and can’t afford the $350k price tag.
Bingo. This fucker can't even afford to RENT his own place. He has to live with his friend but he's claiming to buy an Aventador which is probably the same price as a new house in Park City Utah. This dudes a clown.
Bo Talks not exactly. It's definitely a bit suspicious, but on the other hand it's no different than literally every other lottery in the world. I'm not sure you know what a pyramid scheme actually is, but this isn't it.
I know lots of people in the comments dislike this idea and find it not original. But those are people who don't look into James' perspective on this, and how hitting 1,000,000 subscribers if a massive milestone for anyone. Me, being too young to drive, I still fully support his wonderful idea and will contribute and watch his content whenever it comes out. Also, living in SLC is great. I live there too and have seen James drive around once or twice and I find it very great knowing you have this awesome person who makes some of the best vlogs and videos I've ever seen. Keep it up, and I hope you hit 1M soon!!!
Just say it like it is...a raffle! Stop saying it's a giveaway and most of us will not be angry at you. Also, I forgot to mention he didn't address the issue in this video, he just said the same thing over and over in the video...
Should replace the term I snaked you with I scammed you. Appreciate you want to make money but there are better ways of doing it. Your audience are not idiots James.
Wow....... some bitching going on here. So what if it’s a lottery or a raffle. If you don’t like it or agree with it don’t enter. I can’t enter because I’m in the uk but I’ll still watch the content, same with Salomandrin or Vehicle Virgins. Can’t win those cars either but I don’t care. Hate the way people just bitch and moan at all these creators. Why watch or subscribe ???? There’s certain you tubers I don’t like and you know what? I don’t watch their videos.
Wait so if you have to buy an item to enter and the minimum amount of entries is 5, doesn't that just make 5 entries the same as 1? Just making it sound like more than it is, you either have 0 or 5 lol
Wonder if everyone here could afford the tax bill for it oh and you have to go pick it up and it’s at your expense hotels food gas everything this is a losing game you win a “free” super car but yet your get fucked with thousands in taxes oh and all this is, is to gain money I mean think about it you’re paying 25 a shirt let’s say he sells 100,000 that’s 2.5 million dollars worth that pays for everything and he gains money but let’s be real he’ll sell more than that I bet so yeah this giveaway is bs
People if you can’t afford the tax take out a 90k loan on the car. That is 50% loan to value. Any bank will loan it on a free and clear car as a first position lender. Use that money to pay taxes and insurance and use extra to make payments. Then sell the car after enjoying it for 3-6 months and make a big profit.
It’s a sweepstake not a giveaway waste of time smh we all don’t have 25 bucks to give back the money you spent on this “give away” the whole thing is just a big plan to make you more cash and bring you more fame you are not giving back anything to us..
hahahhaa dumbass. you may say you cannot be sure that he won't give additional chance to people who buy more, but it's clearly written in the terms that you don't have to buy the merchandise to participate (of course, other terms apply). Dumb people like you don't read terms and I bet you're poor too because dumb people are poor people
Wilson Luan he didnt buy the car he is not giving away the car. It's all scam to gain more followers and for you to buy his shirts. He will make a video of the so called winner but hes not gonna be the actual winner. Most likely the so called winner is gonna be the current owner of the McLaren. Another thing how much you think the winner going to pay taxes on this car?
Crimson Prince He lost subs because you're only eligible to win in the US! Alot of his subscribers are all over the world and not allowed to enter, it seems very unfair.
This dude is becoming sooooooooo sooooooooo boring. I'm tired of watching him try to reinvent himself in his channel. You've jumped the shark. Tired of seeing you contrive all these ploys to pull dollars out of my wallet.
Great job burying the questions people had even deeper while talking about stuff nobody really asked about. But sadly most of your viewers, especially young naive ones are easily impressed by the enthusiastic bubbly acted out persona. Its like you live on candy sparkles and fart rainbows. But given how you avoid so many things people wonder about it would appear youre a bit two faced otherwise why not settle peoples minds? Saying" people can read the rules by the lawyers" doesnt answer most of the questions and is kinda of a lame cop out since you know people wont go read that head scratcher and those that do, will understand maybe half of that vile judicial mumbo jumbo-
Just an FYI folks the company behind all of this, Hypercar LLC, is considered by the state of Utah to be a clothing store. Is James just a hired pitchman to help pump shirts out the door? He needs to clarify ASAP.
My heart sank when I read the comments in the announcement video. People kept saying you were selling out and that you had changed. Some people want things handed to them. Don't let those comments get you down!
The hardest part of winning the car will be the taxes. Adding the $200k to your taxes via 1099, would be rough for some people. Am I going to enter? sure! Am I going to win? probably not, but I can always be hopeful! I'd like to thank TheStradman for coming up with this idea, and taking the proper time to work with a legal team to assure that everything is done 100% by the books. And also for giving us all the opportunity to have a shot at supercar ownership. I know I'd never be able to afford something like this, so this is a really cool (exceptionally slim) chance. Good luck to everyone that enters, I can't wait to see the look on the face of the winner!
**almost definitely not It's an infinite long shot, but you can't win if you don't try. I'm definitely not expecting to. I see what you're getting at, however you're being way too literal on what I'm saying.
Yeah, 99% of people entering this giveaway will have to find a way to sell a modified supercar within four months just to pay the around $50,000 in taxes that will be due April 2019 since the giveaway conveniently ends just before the end of 2018.
Mark Guy, my question is why they don't file a 709 form. The taxes would be a lot less if not none depending on whether you take the car or money plus there would be $14000 that's tax free. I would love the car, but the cheapest quote I could find for insurance online is $300 plus a month. I did find an McLaren blog about insurance prices and they were $1250-$3000/yr. That isn't bad $105-$250/monthly I could manage that, but I'll worry about that if I get there 🤞.
Anthony Wilson yeah. I figured that there ways around the taxes. It'd be 12,500 in taxes for me here in MA. The insurance wouldn't be a problem, I could swing that. It's the crippling taxes that would kill me
I hate to be "that dude", but why didn't you get a bunch of vehicles brand new for like 10-20K per car and gave them away to a wider audience instead? Sure, it's not as cool, but many people don't care about coolness. They can't afford a vehicle to begin with. So, personally, I think you should've done that then doing this. On the flip side, you can't make content with boring vehicles, so it's whateevr, I guess.
Why didnt I call it yesterday? I knew it was coming.. the "wait a minute, let me explain myself to save face" video. Only disappointment is he is STILL lying saying its his car. smh
gonzalezsigfredo He bought it with his money? The car is his? His name is on the title? Show some proof first before you say anything else dumb. He said not too long ago in one of his video's that supercharger for his Gallardo would cost $50,000 and he can't afford it but now all the sudden he can afford $200,000 car? Also Murcielago cost around $150,000 not $175,000 like he said. I've even seen recently one going for $110,000 and $120,000-$130,000.. On average you will find one easily for around $150,000.. Anyways the car isn't his but he won't admit that. Makes and Models are the owners..
He's made more money since then, plus he's sure hell make most of his money back on this project. also a mod for a car is not valued the same as an entire car.

Kind of shows you how naive a lot of folk must be. Is this the first lottery they've ever saw or what? Why are people so happy to fork over t shirt money when there are loads of other companies out there doing the exact same thing? They wouldn't entertain them lotteries yet because it's strad he's somehow a great guy for giving them a chance to win a supercar lol.
"Do not enter this Sweepstakes if you are not located in the USA at the time of entry. " That is unfortunate, but it's what happens when you get lawyers involved. Where was the car made?...oh.
Car giveaways have been done on YT before. Guitarmageddonzl1 is giving away a 2017 ZL1 in about a month, and he said they'll give away a Lambo soon. So he'll do it before you. lol
Genius! A joint venture with companies that will contribute to building the car (investors) that will create a private raffle using merchandise as entries (great marketing tactic) that will continue boosting merch sales (i.e. entries to private raffle) until enough revenue is generated to pay for the car, satisfy investors, and make profit, all while bringing immense publicity to the channel. Not criticizing, just pointing out that James is a really smart businessman. However he should have said "raffle" instead of "giveaway", it's not a giveaway at all.
It would still only clarify as a "giveaway" if he was offering to pay the taxes on the vehicle too. The person obtaining the car will be forced to essentially pay for this car (in taxes).
It's because.. ones you starts to watch the video...first..you like the video..and at the same time ..you watching the video... people...gonna see .likes.....but..they.. can't..see the exact.. views..on video...until...you finish.. watching..the video..or leave.the video in middle..I hope you understand... video is about 12 minutes long..as you can see after 12 to 13 minutes later you can see the views count is much more than like...✌✌
yes they are :) if you don't believe in it, at least face that the giveaway is still going to happen, if you don't want to be a part of it, don't be, and if you're SO mad at james for doing this, quit the channel and stop complaining
Oh I dont really care about the give away....it's rigged to give to the one that buys the most. That's why the more you buy the more entries you get. It isnt a true give away ...it's a raffle. You assume I hate James...you assume I am complaining and you also assume I ever subscribed in the 1st place . All of which are wrong lol. The guy is running the perfect deal to make money off this raffle :) He should be set up well after. It's a smart plan....Thats why I said perfect.
Nathan Yeo, you mean change someones life by figuring out how to pay the taxes, maintenance fees, and insurance on the car? You're not being realistic my guy.
