Singing or listening to someone sing this song, my eyes fill every time. I have lost my mom, dad, two brothers and one sister. I will be the last to go from my immediate family. I have 5 children and a wife. It is only fair that I go next. I believe in the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and He will be waiting to bring me home to the Father. There I hope to see my entire family and my pets too. Amen
Kiss me mother kiss your darlin' Lay my head upon your breast Throw your loving arms around me I am weary let me rest Seems the light is swiftly fading Brighter scenes they do now show I am standing by the river Angels wait to take me home Kiss me mother kiss your darlin' See the pain upon my brow While I'll soon be with the angels Fate has doomed my future now Through the years you've always loved me And my life you've tried to save But now I shall slumber sweetly In a deep and lonely grave Kiss me mother kiss your darlin' Lay my head upon your breast Throw your loving arms around me I am weary let me rest I am weary let me rest
I watched all the other lap steel players on youtube, I came back to say, your tone, style, articulation, execution, and possibly most importantly, space: is king.
I was going to say that you're becoming too dependent on those palm levers but then you threw those slants in there so I guess you're ok. ;-) Nice work!
wonderful as always. I finally got my lap steel going. An early 50's Silvertone Artist. I installed Certano string benders, but they offered way too much resistance (following your advice I used 16-56's tuned EBEG#BE) and interfered with the hand position. So I took them off and now it's back to sorta original configuration. Can you suggest the best way forward, esp for minor chords? I'm reasonably proficient on guitar.
Hi Viktor have you considered a six string pedal steel ? You could use the same tuning etc, and the levers are both controlled by foot pedals which leaves your right hand free for picking. S www.redtapemusic.biz
Viktor, If you ever put the Certano back try to adjust the levers to the lowest setting you can work with and try some lube on the bridge and nut. I use Tune-It by Musicnomad. It does work more smoothly that way
@@johnlance3860 I think it has to do with scale length and ergonomics. On a 650 mm scale and 2-3 inches behind the bridge, rather than 1.5 like I had it, it would probably feel more elastic and not in the way.
Been enjoying your Duesenberg work. Any chance you might have some tabs for sale? I've been playing 8-string C6 for a few years but getting started on my fairytale now and following Troy Brenningmeyer's lessons. Be nice to move ahead to your lovely arrangements. I'll touch base through your email. Bill Knox
I stumbled across this channel yesterday, I had been thinking about picking up a new instrument to learn that I could buy on the cheaper side (I learned bari sax at school and cant afford to buy one) and I love the smooth transition and sounds of the flat steel. I ended up buying a $180 aud one on ebay :0
