I liked Selvaria’s character, she had hope and loyalty. Sadly it was false hope, not knowing/accepting the truth of the situation, and as a result she died for a master instead of the lover she thought. Can’t even really blame her, she was raised to be his weapon from the get go. 80% done, wow that went fast.
Little did Silvaria know, she was doing the Galian forces a HUGE favor by using the Valkyria's flame there. The general being dead means that a knew, COMPETENT general can now take over.
To be honest apart from the general they’re kinda decimated their whole army apart from minor limits squads that were left, so I wouldn’t call this a huge favor lol. They were quite confidently winning the war even with an incompetent general and shitload of forces before
I feel so damn bad for Selvaria. Wasting her life for a man who never loved her, who threw her away...and who was loyal to the end despite that. Loyal also to the other valkyrur, and the squad that managed to defeat her, who spoke to her as a person. It makes me want to give her a huge hug. Also, at least the General is dead. What a dick.
ZeRedSpy I feel there are many parallels between Selvaria and Maximillian and Alicia and Welkin. I mean, Welkin pretty much kept Alicia from doing the exact same thing as Selvaria in Chapter 16.
Its not totaly true. Maxymilian use her, and saw as wepon, but even him, have kinda "soft spot" for her in his young age. Just by years his anger and hate to world because of death of his mother, change him to monster, and servalia love make her blind to see this. Who know, if she start to see his darkness before this, and not look on him as a "idol", she could stop his maddnes. And this is the most sad part. Because she love him deeply but was to scare to reach him. And all maxilimian was left was his lust for power and to "destroy world rule"
@@artimuos903 IMO that's just a paper-thin excuse for him to be a narcissistic dick a one dimensional villainand a poorlyif not lazily executed deconstruction of the literary classic "Count of Monte Cristo."
As much as things have sucked for Selvaria, taking out General Damon like that must have at least given her some satisfaction at the end. It's interesting that she made sure Squad 7 got away safely, knowing what Alicia is.
"Leaves no Ruhm for error." Helloween's corpse was later found floating down the Thames. Police report says he was repeatedly shanked by a swedish crack addict in Swindon, and stung by several wasps, likely three nests. Simultaneously. I still love how Ragnaid is basically a healing lightbulb. I see Selvaria's gun is the "Wreck Your Shit 9001" model. It doesn't require reloads, is sniper-accurate, and is capable of firing the whole mag in one shot, such is its fire rate. So, who else is happy General Asshole got nuked?
"Welcome back folks, to Let's Play Valkyria Chronicles! I'm Kikoskia Bles, and this is CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINGUN!!!" Er...anyways... God I love this fight. Selvaria stops screwing around and just tears your face off proper. Which is hilarious, considering she's decidedly more dangerous WITHOUT her godlike powers backing her up. Not that she needs them, considering she has the HP of a tank (nowhere near the armor though...), perfect evasion from the front, the mobility and visual acuity of a Scout, and what is arguably the most overpowered weapon in the game; a 20 round machine gun, 35 damage per shot vs personnel, 75 vs armored (the best non-lance anti-armor weapon in the game IIRC), 540 range (about the effective range of a lancer), and A rank accuracy (a luxury normally only enjoyed by high-end Scout and Sniper weapons). Basically, a full auto sniper rifle with enough oomph to shred a tank in 1-2 actions WITHOUT Orders. Assuming you aim for the radiator of course. Also of note, not only does she reload stupidly quick, but Selvaria has the firing speed of a male Shock. Normally female units fire decidedly slower than males, but apparently the lady general gives zero fucks. XD;;; That blathering aside, damn fine job you did here Hell! Nicely done! Not gonna lie, I was worried after the last vid...
Yus, as someone said, we have basically moved into the "dropping bombs" portion of the game. You can't help but feel for Selvaria, though. At the start of the game she's basically just this terrifying figure. . .but then you get to this point, and you realize she really does have a heart. It's a shame she gave it to someone who never cared more about her than her use as a tool. Glad she at least took out "rats leading rats" bastard. Also holy shit, land warship! Next battle shall be very interesting indeed. . .
Great episode yet again. I gotta say the character progression is pretty awesome all around (with the exception of the very transparent black & white Damon). Really liking especially Largo out of the bunch.
Thanks man! That saved me tons of time. I failed once, but I realized then I'll need a lot or retries so I looked for this instead. BTW, in 10:50, there's no need to pop a smoke there coz Selvaria won't see you there. Same for the second one, as long as you increase the def/evade/caution for Wendy. Again, thanks!
The general showed much more humanity than I expected from a cartoonishly badly written anime villain. He actually didn't shoot her on the spot or continue with the violence or have all of her men shot right before her as I expected he would. He even answered her questions and treated her like a prisoner instead of an insect. There really wasn't any reason to show much mercy to Selvaria from the gallian standpoint. She'd killed a lot of their forces and caused them lots of grief and they didn't know about her "TRAGIC SECRET PAST!" like the player. It doesn't make sense that team 7 would go all mushy towards her just because they beat her but hey anime I guess. I guess Selvaria fought as a "mortal" woman mainly to distract the enemy and nuke them in the end so the emperor could proceed with his plans. In that way it makes sense that she would discard her superior magical abilities.
It angers me that Selvaria never realized Maximilliam was just using her he never care for her. Maybe if she has realized she would have betray him and join forces with squad 7.
Judiel Gonzalez No it looks like she knew but love always blinds people and in her case she was loyal to him to the end even if it meant killing herself and never getting those feelings returned. She was at least decent enough to let Squad 7 leave. Its pretty obvious she spared them from her nuke as well as her men who were captive at the time.
It’s battered spouse syndrome. And yes even the strongest and most accomplished people can fall prey to it. Maxie being Maxie clearly manipulated her into thinking she could earn his love by being the best general. She REALLY needed an intervention. There’s also scenes that show Jaeger knew how much of a POS Maxie was but couldn’t do anything about it. If he had just pulled her aside and said “he’s not good for you”, things would have been a little different.
Loving the characters of this game. And I've got to say it, especially with a game with so much Steve Blum in it, every time I hear Randgriz, I still think Razgriz from Ace Combat 5. Ace Combat 5 was another game with good characters and Steve Blum as Captain Jack Bartlett. I still use the name Razgriz as I gamer tag today, 10 years after the game came out.
Same here but she deserved to live and break free from her toxic relationship. Hell I assumed from the get-go she'd have a redemption arc, but Sega decided to be dicks without any concern for what fans think as much as Disney is now and made her a sacrificial lion. Hell she was the best written character in the game compared to the 2-dimensional main characters and villains. Hell the entire game's story and characters (barring Selvaria) are below average . . . at best! Damn the game writer's to hell with "Dicksney!"
@@skymabile3989 Yeah, it is fair to say that the story writer did not treat Selvaria with much respect. Honestly feel like they wanted to write her quickly out of the game so she did not mess with the stories final portion, which coincidentally, was also its weakest part. On my recent playthrough, noticed that the last quarter gave no mention at all to her anymore, turning her into a forgotten ghost.
That was extremely efficient strategy for the battle. I was all ready for Alicia to get hammered by Selvaria or a machine gun nest, so it was pretty exciting to see her make it through. Selvaria was too easy to take down, but I guess it was because she was prepared as a sacrifice and only intended to make sure she got to take down the Gallian command and their main force. The obvious link to make is that Valkyria are like nuclear weapons, although I didn't connect it with the lands that were ground down to desert before. Hurrah for that pompous ass getting cooked like popcorn, but Damon didn't actually suffer enough for his bigotted, arrogant ways.
Helloween, known as the self proclaimed king of cliffhangers, but another skill he has is cutting his words off at the end of a set it seems. there is a reason we love you Helloween! Tell Harls i said hi
I just returned to this game and need to find this video. I typed in Valkyria in your channel and this was the top result. I did not realize just HOW popular this particular vid was!
Wait, So Maxy really just sacrificed the one person in his army that had a chance of beating Alicia? Either its a major plot hole or shits about to get magical.
Well it seems more like the emperor knew Selvaria would sacrifice herself as shown in the final cutscene in this video and at best take out a lot of Gallian forces as she did so. Meanwhile he could parade in his massive tank-war-airship whatever.
I saw a diffrent version using the flamethrowers arc. Aiming slightly to the left of Selvaria so the crosshair sin't actually on her doesn't (or didn't at the time I saw it) make her count it as dangerous, so no dodging for her. Though I'm pretty sure that youtuber had maxed out everything... But I digress.
This Valkria boss's insane. I just got this game this month, and made it up to trying to beat this mission, up to how to get past that damned gatling gun near the end. I got down smokescreen first and both tanks in two teams on flank when I get there. Only problem then is have to see past smoke for good shot, then biggest problem is units cut down in the process. Which is a bitch for me getting past her so far in game. Not that I don't appreciate this video's advice, but I'm honestly still kinda new at strategy games like this, so a little more advice would be helpful for me to beat this boss. The rest of mission I got down already. Thanks.
@@Helloween4545 yeah, orders like you described I tied once. I honestly found it easier to corner her with both tanks blocking her from running. But thanks for the tip next time I play this mission.
Why the fuck would the whole main army stay stationed in one place. Don't they need divisions to protect areas that they have reclaimed incase of a counter offensive? What a stupid war strategy. This game is one of my faves and it's great but still that part was stupid
helloween u know the game Natural Doctrine? im playing it, its a strange turn based game (hard to explain) but if u screw 1 turn the enemies just gang bang u xD its hard but entertaining.
Selvaria wasn't just a formidable game boss where you could only barely survive against her or a hot wartime magical girl with big "twin torpedoes," she was the best character in the game until Sega copped out and killed her (cue South Park refence). You bastards! I don't feel motivated to finish the game now besides seeing her abusive ex fry. Selvaria's pointless death was proof the writer's where retarded, inconsistent, incompetent and way outta their league when it came to epic rpg stories (Sega you cheapskates). Hell the main characters are annoying as they're morally broken, especially the male lead who can't shut up about his "nature-philia." Meanwhile the rest of Squad 7 are more interesting characters, if not better MC's. Say Freesia York the hot Romani dancer, the Beilert brothers, Edy the twintailed dieselpunk idol and of course the resident Rambo clone Hannes. All the rest is as paper-thin as the pathetically below average story. Hell the narrative execution expects that the players aren't even emotionally phased that much from any tragedy in-game as much as the characters. Even (spoiler alert) when one of the main characters bites it the MCs just go back to normal after a few pages of the in-universe journal. When I'm ready I'll write a "fanfictionized" better version of the story with an Iron Harvest crossover with a Selvaria happily hooked up to a better and luckier guy. Not to mention make a butt monkey out Welkin Gunther to the point you could play a drinking game everytime he gets trolled by slapstick antics.
Yeah, nothing stings quite like wasted potential. I think future Valkyria Chonicles titles could have profited with Selvaria alive as a major character to shape the story in more interesting ways. I reckon she could have had the potential to even become something like a gaming icon if she had been promoted to a main character but alas, that is not the 'blessed' timeline we live in. As is, Selvaria will prolly only be remembered as the foolish suicide bomber who had the big "twin torpedoes" and whose only function in any forthcoming Valykria Chronicles games will be to act as a measuring stick and baseline for future Valkyria characters.
