My thoughts and breakdown for the gameplay deep dive trailer and blog post for EA's College Football 25, along with some opinions. -- tinyurl.com/softdrinktv for merch!
I’ve played SO much The Show that I forgot about those dudes😂 I would like different guys… Jon Sciambi and Christopher Singleton are getting a bit old. (Edit: I’m talking about mlb the show)
Ur just guessing that’s what it’s saying. Technically nothings been confirmed by EA on that. Still could be an error. I mean ur probably right but it’s a guess
Hot take: I wouldn't mind a college football game coming out once every 2-3 years if it means a better quality game, and devs not having to crunch time. We survived with ncca 14 for almost a decade. Waiting 2-3 years is nothing at this point. Just update CF25 with roster updates and add small features like mascot mode later on until 2026-27.
I like that. But I think ea should just bite the bullet and pay more money for a second or third development team. Have group A work on 26 while group B/C work on 27 and 28. That way each game that would come out every year would have a 2/3 year development time. EA would be paying more but they will still make billions off of “mut”. Activision does this method with call of duty. Wishful thinking I know but one could dream lol
@terryar2009 honestly what's been holding the gaming industry back so much was making products for two systems gen4 and gen5 consoles that is this game is specifically made for Gen5 consoles so it should just run smoother I don't know why game companies continue to shill out games for the ps4 when the ps5 has been out for years now same for Xbox games but Xbox does a better job with its exclusives being to the new gen only
@@terryar2009that idea is flawed unfortunately as team A, and team B may work on features that don’t work well together. It’s not like CoD where everyone’s working on completely different games but using the same engine. These teams would constantly be building off each other but also doing their own thing. That could get extremely messy. It would be way easier just to release NCAA every other year
@@kirkmoody6109just last week Sony said that PS4 users and PS5 users were about equal. Cutting half your sales isn’t ideal. Now if more companies just stop supporting last gen this would speed up the transition
@@reese5545 I didn’t know u were on the dev team. Anybody with actual connections to stuff have stated some devs came from that team but random nobody here says they didn’t.
I feel like the deep dive video didnt do the blog any justice lol. They should've covered so much more. That blog is insane! They added so much into this, hope it all comes together.
It'd be damn ironic to say the least. Abilities = X Factor (so we dislike it in Madden, but we're giving it a pass in College? Is that what's happening here? Folks already getting ready to give College Madden a pass cause they turned up the gameplay on the same engine we've been crushing for years)
@@LenGott8345 I think the abilities seem to be more passive buffs, and not game-breaking bullshit like Madden x-factors. At least that's how they appear to me.
@@LenGott8345abilities aren’t the worst thing. Certain players should be capable of doing things others can’t based off the type of player there are. And how the abilities are talked about, they’re gonna be unique based off the players talents
It only being on next gen helps them add more features improve quality of life. They would have to dumb it down for it to run on older consoles. It was going to happen eventually so I’m glad they did it with this game first instead of shitty regular madden
Not mine. The only reason I have an XBox One is because it was gifted to me. If this things only for the Xbox Series whatever, I won't be playing it because no thank you to paying $400 for a console I'll only play two games on.
I love composure and mentality traits. Actually can separate players with similar ratings, and give me a reason to bench players aside from my own user error 😂
Facts!! My boy softdrinktv keep it 💯 about every game!

I'm skeptical. He's hitting all the same talking points the other EA influencers do and constantly talking about how his "EA sources" are getting him hyped. And then just quickly glosses over how even EA's carefully crafted clips have bugs, repetitive animations, etc. There are lot of things in the trailer that he would've ripped apart in the past if it were Madden. If EA paid him to read off a script they wrote for him, I don't think it would sound much different than this.
I was thinking this a little too at first but he critiqued many things in this video and I began to notice things myself that prove that this game is gonna be better than anything EA has released in years (downfield blocking and high pass trajectory). Sounds to me like he's just saying his honest opinion.
I think the most hyped thing about this game is the presnap recognition and ability to hide coverages. Change formations for defenses to disguise them. It’s a complete game changer tbh.
Disagree about the pass breakup at 10:23. I think the pass is so late I’m sweet with that as a break up. Especially if ratings are not strong for the receiver.
This wear and tear system is gonna have me running out of bounds, sliding with my qbs, and conserving my receivers bodies and falling down if there’s no way out lol
Great breakdown - I'm stoked! I believe they mean that Ollie Gordon is from the state of Texas. Much like and NFL broadcast will show the college of a player.
I’m a 26 year old rugby fan from Ireland and in 2013 by chance when I was bored and looking for a sports game to fill the void of a lack of rugby game I stumbled across ncaa 14 on the psn store and have been hooked on the game and the sport of American football since. In the modern generation, video games are a massive avenue to gain new fans in new markets like Europe which is why I’m so shocked that the nfl, who have done a great job of growing the game in Europe, have allowed madden to be so bad. If I had bought madden 14 instead of ncaa 14 I definitely would have never even gotten into American football. One small thing I noticed about this video is the new kick metre is the same as the EA sports rugby 08 kick meter for conversion and penalties haha
I don't know if you saw, but in the blog post, they also stated that players running up to the line is back! So bo nore teleporting straight to the line :D
Something I hope they add, but I won't be surprised if it's not in the game, is stadium expansion. Like if you take a small school and hit certain winning and attendance goals you can add more seating to grow your fan base.
I like them showing spin moves and how they look like a valuable option for trying to juke someone. Unlike madden were a spin move takes like 7 seconds to actually play out.🤦♂
6:59 YOU speak about the wear and tear features... Here's a thought, maybe EQUIPMENT usage would be a factor. Like neck rolls and back plates, elbow pads and knee braces... Just a 🤔 thought💭
@John-PaulHunt-pv6ol Oh for sure. I'm definitely not pre-ordering or even buying this game Day 1. EA will never get that kind of business from me ever again.
The "high snap" is for draw plays. It isnt random it actually has a purpose. Its used to stall a defense for a second in real life while the HB stands still waiting for the delayed handoff.
In Madden, a high snap animation is a dead giveaway that the offense is running a HB Draw. It looks like the same was true here, unfortunately. A very dumb pattern they've coded in for no reason
I havent heard softdrink this hype abt an ea game since reviewing the old ones so we might have a great game on our hands here. Only time will tell but everything looks amazing from what we see
Yeah! Say what you want! Honesty takes courage. I've been watching your videos over the years, but a lot lately, and you do a fine job. I been an addicted sports gamer since 1987, and you have a very accurate perspective of the good qualities and flaws of sports games. Your explanations are very well delivered. I don't kiss anyone's ass, and I reserve respect for those who truly deserve it. YOU HAVE MY RESPECT, at this moment, I subscribe. Carry on...
All they had to do was copy the version they had in HC09 that had a perfect system. Body part specific wear and tear. Not just Arms and legs, but left arm, left leg, left foot, right foot, etc. If you drafted a guy with a 75% health rating on one of his legs, the more hits he took to that leg the greater chance he would get an injury, to that leg! You could of course sub him out if the damage got too critical for you to try to save him from some injury and sub him back in when he had chance to recover some. This stat had nothing to do with their strength, height, or weight, and everything to do with their durability and health ratings.
@@eduardopena5893 idk if you’ve read the blog but the toughness stat is actually the biggest stat dictating their ability to recover as well as the damage they sustain each play and each contact
I have an incredible feeling that “Stories of Saturday” will be their version of College Gameday; they’re not just going to not have some type of feature like that.
Funny that I watched one of you reacting to the gameplay deep dive after watching one AJS has done and find two very different reactions to it. Fingers crossed that it's actually good. (The game that is)
I am pointing out that Ollie Gordon is on the right team in game. It's a mix-up and happens no hate. Just letting you know he IS on OSU in the game and not Texas. It said Texas because he was born in Texas.
One thing I would hope to see is whether it be with dynasty or RTG is if u have an incoming class & your players are high ranked like 4-5 star guys and they have to play a tough game on the road that they at least have the ability to be more under control mentally and emotionally than say a 1-3 star guy who gets rattled and doesn’t have the ability to play cool under pressure and see how it affects each guy
@@xman777baccording to RU-vidrs Bordeaux and Bengal, the Presentation is astounding. Watch Bordeaux's video on his time in Orlando. He goes into some nice detail
I’m just happy you’re at least being optimistic, l feel like there are some people still nitpicking this trailer because they don’t want to like the game
From what can be seen and heard from those closely involved with the game, I find College Football 25 to be a promising release. I'm excited to see how the game plays and flows throughout and how all of the features function. It's going to be quite interesting. So far, I'm optimistic about it.
I mean I don’t mind it as long as it’s reasonable animations. I don’t really see COD using different death animations in multiplayer a whole ton. I have an issue if they only reuse animations, don’t make new ones, and keep in ones that don’t really work well.
No way people are still saying this game is gonna flop, we got Matt Brown, Not the Expert, and Soft Drink TV telling us this will surpass madden in nearly every way
Great vid! First time I've been excited for a sports game in years. NCAA 06 had the ability to throw high arching passes vs direct passes by tapping the button vs pressing it. The more things it emulates from 06, the better! That is the best football game of all time imo.
@@sportstronicsdumb fuck can you hear? Soft drink literally said that it reuses some assets and animations from Madden but it’s not a reskin because there tons of animations that aren’t in Madden. You might want to change your pad I think you’re leaking
I would always take knees at the final 3 seconds of the game for madden so that it wouldn’t show the next play and actually felt like that knee was a victory formation one.
I'm looking forward to the game don't get me wrong but the only reason we are getting more features for NCAA 25 is because EA knows NFL and college fans are watching them more then Madden especially since this is the first game in 11 years. Just got a bad feeling they could somewhat drop the ball because EA is good at screwing up
So excited to hear there will be two commentary teams also in game studio updates from around the league while playing dynasty like in 14 and please bring the bottom ticker
You know what they say “talk is cheap” that rule goes triple for EA but theres been too many content creators come out and say they’ve enjoyed the game for it not to be good I’m just glad NCAA 13 recruiting system is returning 14s felt way too easy and bland
@@crimsonchin8916 it has pitch grades and managing time like in ncaa 11 but no random roll instead you call the prospect and you are able to “make a pitch” “compare schools” or “sway interest” if you are a school like the umass minutemen 5 star athletes ridicule you for even calling them but overtime if you are a winning program your school becomes more established and competitive this system was amazing as it felt like you were building up a college while winning football but fans complained it was too complicated and so the point system in ncaa 14 happened
@@jamiebaxter9143 oh good god. That stuff was nice but somewhat felt tedious at times. Especially when you’d do all of it just for the guy to be like a 47 overall 2 star player.
@@crimsonchin8916there was no random roll stuff after scouting the players for 100% you can see if they are “busts””gems” or “just as advertised” what I loved the most is when your school had success the athletic facilities would get better like you were building history
@10:20 I think the clip is trying to demonstrate that the receiver is rattled playing at PSU so even though it's a gimme his loss in composure makes him drop it.
He said on twitter he wasn’t going to do any more updates on this game until it releases, so if he pre-order (he’s soft drink and probably didn’t) a review should be out on the 15th or 16th, as early access is at 4pm cst on the 15th
Haven't bought ea in years... I'm a single player franchise/dynasty mode gamer... hearing ur first impression gives me hope... will definitely be one waiting to hear ur official take of the game before I buy...
No offense to you, but I'm pre-ordering regardless of anyone youtuber's review! I haven't bought a new football game since NCAA 14 in 2013 and would have even bought it if it was a Madden re-skin just because I miss the College experience💀 lol
NOPE - y'all acting like the abused woman. I always value the opinion but I grew up in Cleveland, the home of "this is the year." Not one shred of optimism until release.
