I really appreciate videos like these. I have struggled with my body all my life. Seeing other people talk the difference between appearance and health helps me keep a positive mindset. When I was in my late teens and early 20s, I was incredible skinny part due to medical issues and part due to disordered eating. I would go long periods of time without eating, binge eat, and pass a lot of the food still undigested. I also had abs and fit well into the skinny twink aesthetic. I didn't like my body, I wasn't healthy, and I couldn't gain healthy weight. This is also the time in my life when I received the most compliments and attention from people I was attracted to. Took me a long time to find my health and happiness.
I just started watching your videos recently. There is not a single thing to worry about with your weights - you both look great. Clearly, the people that say negative things are so unhappy with themselves that they have to try to tear someone else down for no justified reason.
Zach, I have a philosophy I have tried to live by for many years. Other people's opinions of me are none of my business. Don't take things personally. Usually if they are cutting you down it's because of something they hate about themselves. Being in the public eye brings more exposure and of course, more negativity. I think it’s human nature to remember the negative comments, even when the majority of them are positive. I do think ignoring the negative comments is probably the best way to go, but sometimes it’s tough not to respond when someone makes a comment that feels unfair. And the comment that bugged you was absolutely an unfair one that said a whole lot more about the person who made the comment than it did about you and Alastair. Your videos never feel, rote or forced - how they do feel is genuine and honest. That’s why we watch you happily and say nice things - because those are the kinds of comments your videos deserve.
i feel like discussing social issues becomes a minefield where you can never say the right thing without someone trying to do a "gotcha" and no matter what you say it just becomes twisted. i used to be more active in those types of conversations but its so impossible to actually have rational debates or discussions online now because everyone becomes so extremist. theres so many people out there just seeking negativity and arguments. deleting twitter genuinely made my mental health better because i just stopped seeing it all.

AUTHENTICITY I've watched Zach (and Bs!) videos before he met Alastair, and I have to say, I have really appreciated watching them both over the years as they have matured both emotionally (relationship) and physically. I love the Coffee and Tequila videos because they are often honest and open about things. I appreciate also that Zack spoke about the inappropriate and nasty comments. Fat shaming and ageism is a big issue in the gay community. I'd love to see A & Z speak MORE about topics like these. FAT COMMENTS I grew up chubby in my teens and 20s and I remember standing outside my first gay bar for over 2 hours, afraid to go inside. I was fearful of being sneared at and rejected by everyone inside. It took me a long time to realize that no matter what you look like, there are others who will find you attractive (or unattractive) either sexually or as friends. And, you know what? Attractiveness is not limited to outward appearances. Some of the ugliest people can be "sexy" on the outside, while some folks with the most beautiful souls might have outward appearances that only a mother (or pet dog or cat) could love. I eventually moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where the gay male population skews older and where there is a large bear population. I found people there to be [generally] much more accepting of others. I also found a bunch of chasers who adore bigger guys. I have learned that if someone doesn't accept you for being who you are, then those folks don't need to be in your life. If someone thinks it is OK to call someone else fat or old, then they have an ugly soul and will inevitably just put out negative energy into other people's lives. I am reticent to comment on people's looks, but personally, I think both A & Z look amazing. I personally find them to be hotter now as they have ever been. (And, as an aside, since Zach mentioned it, love handles and man bellies are sexy as hell!) But you know, I don't watch them because of their looks. Their personalities and conversations are what draw me back, time and time again, to watch their videos. Meanwhile, I'll be patiently waiting for them to start their OnlyFans page. I don't care if they are in their 70s. I can wait! Haha! ;)

Hey, Zach. Found your main RU-vid channel a little while ago and think you and Alistair are adorable. I'm the mother of two lgbtq children. I want to address the body issues thing. I had bulemia in my early 20s. I have a distorted body image. 10 years ago, at 37, I weighed 117 pounds. I was very judgemental toward people who were overweight and thought if they just ate right and exercised they would lose weight. I also have depression and anxiety and was barely functioning at that time. I was put on medication, and it changed my life. I was able to feel emotions. I was able to be productive. It also caused me to gain 50 pounds. I would much rather be overweight and happy than skinny and sad. And I've been both. My happiness worth 50 extra pounds. So before anyone judges anyone, be aware that you don't know circumstances. People who have mental health issues know what comes with them, and people who don't have mental health issues don't have the understanding to judge. I think you both look good. And as long as you are happy, it doesn't matter anyway.

Hi Zach, it's Saturday night here in UK, just finished watching this video and really enjoyed hearing you speak. I understand what you mean. Something came to mind which I wanted to share, in case it's of use. I saw a therapist for a long time just to help me with personal development in general, and he introduced me to something called IFS - Internal Family Systems, and it's basically a theory that there are different parts of ourselves, and so when we speak, if we speak from that part it helps us to see that it is just one viewpoint and feeling within us, not our whole self. So by saying 'part of me feels....' instead of 'I feel....' we can safely explore a feeling/emotion/viewpoint that emerges, with kindness and self-parenting, as the rest of ourselves/our other parts are there to take care of any part that is feeling like an exile/lost/confused part, especially the parts of us that come from old trauma/shame or parts that habitually try to step in to play a certain protective role even when we no longer need them to do that/when the danger has passed, for example. In other words 'Do I really feel this way, or is it just part of me that feels that way?' Sorry if that is either badly explained, or just not useful haha! I have not watched your material for very long, less than a year, so I am glad you are back. As someone who has struggled with their weight and has done some of the same things you have, i.e., purging, excessively working out, starvation, this really hit home for me. I know it's easy for someone, especially a complete stranger (such as myself), to tell you to ignore those trolls, but it will always nag you. That being said, personally, I think both you and Alistair are beautiful men, inside and out. While I may not know you, it's easy to see your true personalities shine through in your videos. Keep up the great work you do!

My friend, I thank you for sharing and raising some really great questions on how the opinions of others affect us. You got me all up in my emotions and made me tear-up. I identified with everything you said and the struggle to not give it any value, but certain comments have a way to affect us deeply. I tend to be a people pleaser. Which weaponizes negative criticism, especially if it’s about my body, or the way I walk or talk or any other insecurities. The person that wrote that opinion did it with full intent to hurt (“hurt people, hurt people”). The dishonest apology says it all. Not too long ago, I was really struggling with some stuff that was eating away at my self-esteem and mental health. In conversation with my mom, she said this to me, “there is good and evil in the world. The primary purpose of evil is to contaminate/infect as many people as possible to take their happiness away.” She continued, “especially when your life is going well and hope is shining as bright as the sun. Evil uses people to accomplish it’s goal.” My mom concluded her “moment of wisdom” (her words 😊 ) with, “ just say thank you and may love and happiness overflow in your heart.” As a response to the negative comments or negativity in general. It's not always easy to turn off that negative comment that plays on repeat in our head. But bringing it into the light and sharing it with trusted family and friends, opens great conversations. I think what you did by sharing was great. Take the negative, expose it and turn it into a teachable moment and open a conversation that will certainly help others. This turned out to be a longer note than I expected. I’ll end by saying, I love you guys and thank you.
People can be so strange at times. If they see a friend, they accept what their friend talks about - whatever it is - as just an expression of someone they care about. But, with creators, they expect certain things. And, if they don't get it or accept it, they attack,. Why? What is the difference? I have always appreciated your videos - they are like visiting a friend.

I’ve seen a handful of these videos with one partner is either old, unattractive, overweight, or all three and the other partner is like a model, buff, young, etc. and these people have found there match, what they are looking for, and it just triggers some people. They don’t see the attraction. But the thing is, it’s not for them to see, it is only for you alone. He only has eyes for you and you for him.

It's that one intentional negative, or hateful comment that can destroy my day, week, or even month and it can come from anywhere or anyone. I'm learning to let go and be myself. First time commenting! After watching and rewatching virtually every Vid I have come to a conclusion, first I hope the commentator you were referring to has sobered up and has apologized. Most importantly though I realized why you both don’t defend yourself from these comments, you realize that your audience might see themselves in those situations and you want to protect them by not engaging in a dialogue. WOW what a friend you must be to your closest friends group, no doubt they feel honored when you refer to them as a friend.
