In this lesson, we're going to build some slot machines onto clean counter tops to make a really nice casino display for your settlement. But hidden in the tutorial is some "reverse logic" that will drastically improve your settlement building skills!

I agree with your philosophy about the building effect on help the mind expand a bit. It's very similar to constantly play mahjong, word find games, and other puzzle style games. Simply: By focusing on puzzles(like settlement build is :) )it enhances the development of certain chemicals in the brain which in turn creates new "grooves" in the mind which expand one's ability to reason and explore abstract thoughts. Which is the base of problem solving and tool creation which has kept the human race "on the top of the food chain"

I agree with the building part of Fallout helping exercise all those parts of your brain. In my job I look for procedural errors, loopholes, glitches, exploits, workarounds, and other things like that. I think that's a big part of why I'm drawn to settlement building. I really don't have the eye for design that a lot of builders have but I enjoy figuring out solutions to get things to go together the way I want them to. Once I've figured out the solution I usually lose interest in the rest of the build and move on to the next problem to solve.

Sometimes, in some settlements, I've had slot machines snap together. It doesn't make sense that they don't always, but they don't.

I have them snapping pretty much every time... i snap it to the left side of the existing one and it just snaps together... never even knew it was a problem for others until I saw this vid xD

Thanks to your videos I have been. Able to make a samie realistic nuka world Red Rocket . Setallment with samie sucken buses in hills . Thanks to to plier explort I seen you use. An the rug one to put a nuka cola machine next to the soda mixer. In a world of people using mods . It's nice to see some one not using them. An show others you can do cool things without mods.thanks .

Hi Bruce. The checkerboard and thatched flooring comes from the Vault-Tec dlc. The glass floors are actually ceiling tiles from the Contraptions dlc. :)

Hey so I was wondering, could you make a video about the castle's walls. I kmow there are other videos out there but most evryone else uses mods. I don't use mods on my main character and I want to build the castle up for the minutmen.

The reason you can't rug, or pillar glitch, the slot machines is probably due to the type of object the slot machines are.

Veroxzes Wish I would have know that lol. Maybe that's why my settlers started attacking me when I had the drink station, power bike and Slots All together. I am not sure what they are programmed them as lol. Thank You!!!

mrjsbedore lol Yeah, never tried the ”evil” ones so I don’t know what would happen in the long term. I remember trying each one time, then reloading a save and trying another until I got what I wanted.

I can’t build vault structures (like vault walls and so on) I can only build them IN the Vault.

Oh, parquet. Good way of describing it actually. Yeah, it's found in the Overseer's section of the Vault-Tec rooms.

you cant rug glitch things that use power connections and have interactive functions.

I don't think that's the reason. You can rug glitch the radio beacon, for example, and that has both a power connection and a switch. The decontamination arch is another great example. It's just something about those pesky slot machines. LOL.

hi i dont know how to message you, im wondering if you know how to create a radiation proof building. is that possible? tried putting some atrium walls n floors together but rads can still get inside it. yeah i know i can wear power armour and certain pieces of clothing to protect me but what about a building?

They snap with themselves that's why they can't be rug glitched. EDIT: Wait what you can't snap them together? I can in my game. EDIT 2: Ah I see there's another video xD

Your slot machines will snap together when you first build them on the ground, dirt works well. No idea why they dud it like that...

Wait... the slot machines aren't supposed to snap? I've built entire rows of them in my Settlements before and they all snapped together. I figured they were supposed to snap that way so you could create actual casino aisles of machines. Edit: I wonder if it has to do with the type of prototype you built. I see you're using the 'revenue loss' model, I generally go with 'customer profiling'. I only bring it up because in past games like Skyrim different types of the same item can be glitched, like the Nightingale stuff.

That's the Revenue Loss one, the same as that found in the video. It's good if you want to proc the 100 happiness trophy, but that's it. Customer Profiling is a middle of the road option that provides small income and a small bonus to happiness. Indentured Servitude is the last option, which focuses solely on income. I tend toward the middle one because caps are easily gotten through selling chems and steaks.

XoRandomGuyoX You seem like a smart guy, you know if Ada will bring down settlement happiness? I’m quite sure CODSWORTH don’t because he’s a companion, and overall important character. Sure Ada is too but you can make an exact copy with the robot workbench of her. Can’t do do CODSWORTH, they didn’t add the Mr Handy voice. (Wich is a shame as I made my provisioner for Graygarden a Mr Handy called Supervisor Blue lol. And I have no idea why my phone insists on spelling CODSWORTH in caps...)

This is from memory, but when I had her assigned to Hangman's Alley I believe the Happiness was the usual 80 you'd get from all humans/companions.

XoRandomGuyoX Hmm, interesting. Yeah my happiness is alright, usually around the 80’s mark. I have set up a bunch of those things settlers spin on and workout stations and 5 slot machines, so Yeah. Shouldn’t my happiness be higher then? Rarely it gets bumped over 90 for a while However. My settlers keep going from their posts to play wich is quite annoying... im fine with the bartender cause That’s where i put them lol. But even guards and the guys on the artillery guns do it too... Does that happen for you? They didnt use to do thus but now everyone’s addicted to gambling lol. Maybe because they keep winning... Once i was getting a haircut from a settler who then walked over to the slot machine as she was ”cutting” my hair lol.

Nick Clark Yeah, I’ve accumulated over 2000 hours in just a year... What I’m addicted to is looting. Like ridiculously. I can play over 6 hours just picking up anything I see, and be at over 3000 carry weight when I’m done... Yeah Strong Back + High Agility and Endurance is really op lol.

i love your videos, but I'm hesitant to get the DLC because i haven't finished the game and i feel like DLC is created for people who already did most everything. *story time* once when i was playing skyrim, i downloaded all the DLC at once, because i didn't know that a bunch of new enemies would appear inside the walls of whiterun and start killing all my merchants. so it kinda ruined my play through. does this happen with fallout DLC?

No the DLC integrates well with the main game. Plus, it'll give you more things to build with while you're main questing. The DLC stories start like side-quests, so you can just start them whenever you feel like and you don't even have to finish them all at once.

The slot machines don't snap. The reason you can't glitch them is that they are interactive - settlers can use them with an associated animation. It's the same with the diner booths from one of the other DLCs, if I recall correctly. This is somewhat inconsistent, not everything that is interactive resists glitching, and I haven't figured out why what does how. You can rug-glitch chairs just fine, for example.

It's probably only DLC items that are interactive. The coding probably leaves out the ability to interact with some objects, like rugs. I have to question, if I stack rugs does the slot machine go through them?

It's definitely inconsistent. Good examples of things that are interactive with animations that _can_ be rug glitched: decontamination arch, soda fountain, flamethrower, surgery chair, water pump, etc. The slot machine is the only item I've found that doesn't snap (or get snapped to) that can't be rug glitched. It's very interesting.

Slot machines snap together on my game. I just tested it to make sure my memory was correct. Not sure why everyone here seems to say otherwise.
