let's build a MALICE pack! part 3: Mating pack to frame. taking an off-the-shelf ALICE pack and frame and making the tweaks to turn it into a high-speed-low-drag lean, mean, loadout machine!
This 3 part video was very useful and inspirational. I think people going back to the ALICE pack is a case of the human body not having changed much in the last 50 years and the ergonomics of backpacks are going to plateau from now on and any further ¨improvement¨ on the design is going to be on the realms of weight and materials. Most packs today are more bells and whistles than core functional features. Thanks for the video!
What I did to alleviate the problem of having no carrying handle I attached a large, rappelling karabiner onto the frame, it's not very comfortable to hold with your hand but gets the job done but it's silver and kinda stands out in the sun light, at least it doesn't clink or anything, but I think I might do what you said and attach the rope with some hose through the middle, that sounds smart so thanks for the idea
You cant beat em! A sack with straps! No zippa's!... personally, i would never change alice hardware for plastic, they get cold and break.. but nevertheless, nice job.
A good mod for the grab handle is to make it from 8-10' of 1/4" or 3/8" climbing rope to double as a prusik knot and line for climbing or rappelling rope.
@@renaissancemarinetv3536 yes they are a great knot to learn, many uses, also a blake hitch for single rope climbing, I was an Arbroist for 12 years, that's all I ever used, good video by the way, I just watched all 3.
That came out really nice. Since I'm lacking in patience and imagination I just tied some spare blue paranoid to the top bar to use as a handle or to hang from a tree. It's ugly but functional.
I dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know of a way to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb lost my account password. I love any tricks you can offer me.
@Lachlan Saint thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
There’s an online store called Allegheny Surplus Outlet that has all the different patterns including woodland camo for the MOLLE 2 waist belt. They also have the matching straps.
add i use a hang man knots on the ends some grip tape on the frame that me i see alot guys adding rope and its all over place if not where you need to be what good is it there 2 post and 2 cents
