Let's Build A Model From 1300 Parts 😱 BMR-3M From Meng in 1/35 Scale

My friends, we're finally NOT building a tank! It's not an airplane though... it's an armored mine-clearing vehicle, and it still has tracks because those are always cool. It's one of the more recent Meng releases and it's an almost perfect kit, the amount of details you get straight from the box is unbelievable! It looks like there's no photoetched aftermarket set available for this model, which is totally fine, it's not like the kit needs any radical improvements! 1300 parts is enough to get anyone busy for several evenings and if you're into modern armor, it's well worth getting one yourself!

@@NightShiftScaleModels Dear Mr. Night Shift , I really enjoy watching your videos , I find your narrative fun to listen to Anyway , I would like to share one of my techniques for chipping , I have many more for photoetch , texture and coloring that I would like to share with all modelers , only not the time to devout to my own channel perhaps you could try these and do a video ? Hmm , Chipping , you need a piece of scrap styrene , diluted white glue and silver leaf , not foil paint a light coat of glue on the styrene , allow to dry until tacky , then lay the leaf on top , Don't worry about the wrinkles , with your bare index finger start tapping the leaf , you will notice tiny flakes build up on your finger , then just go tap your finger on the grab hooks , edge's , what ever , You need to experiment tapping the leaf to make smaller or larger flakes as desired , I have tried other tools beside my finger , a brush quickly gums up at the tip , sticks don't transfer well after you have chipped you can do a light burnish to seat the flakes , Hope you try this

This is a very challenging model to build. 1300 parts, with all of the tiny surfaces, curves, and corners create an interesting building experience. This reminds me of putting a 10000 piece puzzle together.
@551taylor
@551taylor 3 года назад
Very nice model, Uncle. Modern mines can be laid by hand, or scattered from cluster bombs. They can be pressure sensitive, sound sensitive or magnetic sensitive (proximity sensors). They can also be set to detonate randomly, or to switch off for a while when a nearby mine detonates, all to demoralise an enemy who will be too frightened to clear them manually, hence the mine clearance tanks. This particular tank looks as though it can clear pressure mines using the rollers, and plough up mines between the rollers. It can possibly detonate mines remotely using magnetic fields or noise generators, but a major issue would be shaped-charge, directional mines, hence the ERA additions to the hull. It may use the MG for remote deflagration of bombs and mines. It may even have defences against top-down attack from parachute mines that can optically target vehicles by spinning around as they drop.

I loved the tracks on the Meng BMPT kit. If you cut the main track parts with a scalpel at the correct angle there is almost no cleanup required. Same for the central guide horn parts. The outer parts are rubber and have their sprue gates on the inside, so cleanup is pretty much no visual factor at all. For an injection molded kit this is pretty amazing.

Sir night shfit, if im correct (i know i might be wrong so no need to comment who thinks i am), those drums at the back of the tank are actually smoke grenades that deploy in a barrel. It was also used in the IS-3 in the past ( 7:12 if u wanna know which one im talking about)
@Mach-2-Fishbed
@Mach-2-Fishbed 3 года назад
What you are thinking of are the BDSh-5 smoke bombs. Quite cool weighted and floating smoke screening devices, but they fell out of use around 1955 when the Soviets started adapting just about all their tanks to use a Thermal Smoke Apparatus (fuel injected into the exhaust to create a smoke screen). Having the TDA as well as the 902 Tucha series smoke grenade launchers made the BDSh-5's quite obsolete. The barrels today are additional fuel with each one holding 200L extra (and are far bigger then the old smoke bombs).
