Thank you for the video! They really need to just re-introduce UC pets somehow. If hackers can create UC pets then TNT needs to stop lying saying that they can’t lol. Don’t know what they’ll do. Maybe put a sticker to signify that they’re converted or once they’re pounded convert them or whatever. They can make SO much money and bring back players this way. Neopets needs to do itself a favour and transition into a teen/YA site bc it would be so much better...can’t even say “grape” on the boards smh
Ever since UC trading became the ONLY thing the Pound Chat was about I've been hoping for TNT to implement a way to create new UCs. So I hope they do that.
@@kevinho8616 for who? not for me. for a lot of folks we like ucs but the market is just, TOO MUCH. i'm in it for the aesthetic, and if it's as simple as pressing a button for an overlay, hell yeah. there's still prestige in having an 'original' uc, i 100% trust the neopets market to make a definition for new and old ucs to keep the price of old ucs high and their personal value up as well. it'll happen.
Ever since someone hacked my Neo account and stole my UC pet, I've NEVER wanted one again lol. They are too much of a liability. It's like I put a target on my back!
I feel like the fairest option would be to release a NM item that allowed you to create account locked UC pets (similar to the Ice Bori). This way 'tradable' UC pets still hold some of their value and people who just wanted a personal UC would be able to pay neopets for it if they didn't want to go through the whole trading process.
Neopets has done so many dumb things over the years. Sometimes it was like they stuck to decisions they made just out of stubbornness and because “it’s always been that way”. Originally you could only have one account, then they said you could have a certain number of side accounts so you could have additional pets? Like why the hell didn’t they just allow people to have more pets? The concept of side accounts was so stupid. And that was, from my understanding, the origin of trading, so you could move pets between your own accounts, and then it just expanded from there. They could’ve avoided so much mess by simply allowing each user a larger number of pets and never even introducing trading to begin with.
they just didn't want to have to code in an expanded pet limit, NOR code in a way to officially designate a side. I'm always so stressed when I have to move a large sum of points or pets to a new 'main' side [for whatever reason, preferring a username or what have you], that my account will look 'suspicious'. The amount of monitoring and modwork they have to do because there is no way to confirm sides. It must be a bigger expense in the long-run to pay for all that monitoring than expanding the pet limit. I would merge all my sides into 1 account in a heartbeat. I wish I could just have 30 pets on one account. I wish I didn't have to stress about accidentally doing a daily on a side I left logged in on a device. I can't grasp why history is always the cornerstone of TNT's decisions.. like all the random words that are banned on the forums for no reason other than, they just always have been.
Yay! A wild Kat appears! The UC stuff scares me! Lol. I would never be able to break into this mobster level UC trading/pyramid scheme thing as it is. If Neopets makes a change so that I could casually obtain one that would be cool! They are so cute 😍
personally, if UCs became a premium perk or NC mall item i'd be overjoyed. even if users are given the option to "unconvert" a pet, there'd still be a bit of a rarity trading system for more expensive PB color or lab color UCs that are hard to get even when converted. i'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with!
Now that they've had to admit [which we could already tell from young staff-owned pets] that they can spawn UCs any time... I wonder if they're ever going to address the fact they could reissue almost any item on the site and fix the rampant inflation that helps terrify off returning or newer users....
@@uncrnsprklfrts5720 been back into it for a year, it's sometimes a headache, but foodclub is the ticket. People on reddit lay down who to bet on and the math is so well understood you're almost always guaranteed a return on the investment.
I saw someone else make a comment on another video about this topic that made me question all of this drama. The commenter specifically mentioned that they believed TNT basically just lied to everyone about UC Neopets not being possible to create for years, and now that the users have discovered that it is possible to unconvert pets, TNT has no choice but to be honest about UC pets being possible.
If they made an NC item to unconvert but then the pet becomes no trade (or will revert back to converted form once traded) that would be the best solution. People who want the UC pet for looks get what they want and the UC trading market remains active for anyone who wants a “real” UC or certain names or the highest value rare pet or whatever
I think adding a UC paintbrush or potion to the nc mall would be a good idea especially if the neopets team never wanted pets to become a trading currency. I definitely understand people wanting the rarest thing, but they are probably a minority in all of this. Adding it as a paid item would still keep the trade market alive but it also removes the need for illegitimate means (or at least removes the frequency in which people use them). I'm still surprised they haven't done anything about this for so long especially with how vocal players have been about wanting them. Oh! And maybe for all the pets that have don't have an unconverted form, they can make one! Channel their inner old-school neopets and figure out what the Vandagyre would've looked like in the past :b Question for you (and anyone else here playing neopets), is the site suddenly taking a long time to load and run for everyone else?
Love this video!! I recently wanted to get back into neopets but felt now was a bad time due to them switching things over to the new layout, but it's really interesting to see what the community is like at the moment. Personally I would love for them to create a way to make UC pets, as much as it might destroy trading I personally think it'll make the game much more enjoyable. It felt very hard to break into the UC trading scene so having this opportunity even if just for one pet or to pay for will make things a lot easier and fun imo!

They could make "new" UC pets and old UC pets different. Like the aged UC pets have a special badge on their profile or something like that to maintain special value and differentiate it from new UC. I like the idea of new UC pets.
Yay! I've been waiting for more Neopets updates since January and the site change. I haven't played since I was a kid, and wouldn't really have time anymore to be any good at it or consistent, much less keep up with all the changes, but I have enjoyed seeing modern players!
I think they just need to keep the original UC pets which are already in circulation marked somehow. The same as how Shinies is pokemon are valuable just because they come with a red star, even if they only look a little different from the other pets, I think original UCs would remain valuable. They could also award trophies for *legitimately* acquiring an original UC. Otherwise, I think it'd make sense if they did what Leopets did in a way, and made contests that allowed users to suggest new Neopet colours or even just changes to the existing art. TNT would still update it to make sure everything looks kinda consistent... but after additions like Oil Paint etc, I feel like the possibilities are endless! I think it'd be way more fun if we could all have a tiny chance of seeing our work implemented into the site somehow, and that might be a good substitute to bringing back UC pets, because it would make converted ones more fun. Thoughts?
I actually don’t like the idea of the pets being converted. Part of the appeal of some colors is they come from different worlds in wich aesthetic and posture etc are all tie ins to that worlds design and the paintbrushes would incorporate everything from colors to poses etc. like I get why they converted pets but also I feel like there should just be a choice or like special brush or something that is accessible to everyone to get unconverted pets. And if the rarity of UC pets is an issue, the new UC brushes or whatever could have different design aspects that still fit the same brush but make them unique enough that the older pets still keep that rarity
UC pets are a mistake. Ever since day one. They should have removed them all. I got my account frozen for getting a hacked UC pet, because people from cheating communities did not like me (I was pretty annoying back then, lol). Neopets should just reboot and start from zero.
Im trying to get my old accounts back to get my old UC Darigan Eyrie and I'm super worried I'll never get him back. It took me like 2 years as a kid to buy that Darigan PB from the Hidden Tower.

Imagine being old enough that you stopped playing neopets in 2007, before the conversion even happened, and now wanted to return as an adult to be shocked to learn that your dreamies are all now impossible to get because their colors look wildly different. Now imagine them all being mutant pets that barely have any customization items for them as it is. Honestly getting back UCs would be enticing for quite some early players who fully associate those pet designs with NP to start with anyway.
I'm going to be honest, I paid for college when I was too disabled to really work by selling black market video game coins. You don't have to use bots or hacks to do it, if you can earn a few million a day. It was one of the few ways to really earn decent money when it's hard to eave your home before covid, and the option really isn't there anymore now that developers have cracked down I doubt that's the case with UC pets though since there is such a limited amount of them. But a lot of times these black markets involve people who legitimately play the game selling off a part of what they have to a larger company so they can make ends meet
I get that. I don't have a problem with legitimate secondary markets! My issue is mostly with people hacking inactive accounts and acting like that's a moral good for the community because they're "putting the pets back into the economy" or whatever. It's cool that you were able to make money that way. Were you able to enjoy the game after that? Once I started paying for WoW tokens with in game currency, it started to feel less fun, if that makes sense?
I have a video coming out in a bit that will explain that! But basically, they are old art from before Neopets standardized pet poses so that they could implement customization. Users could choose whether or not to "convert" their pet to the new art. Not all pets were eligible for this, just certain ones. Those that didn't get converted became valuable, both because of their nostalgic art and because of their rarity.
I don't care if people get upset about how long they uptraded for their rare uc pets, I prefer unconverted unique pets to converted pets- just give us the option neopets team!! Someone hacked my account and stole my uc mutant neopet :(
We all know neopets is a dead site, they should just give it to us. It’s been so long and so many prefer the pre-customization look, if they charged us $5 to un-convert pets, many would go for it. They have been sitting on this gold mine for years
While youre discussing how much one would pay for an unconverted pet, i honestly wouldnt pay anything, because once you pay real money, to me the rarity is gone. Id love an unconverted pet, but if just anyone can get one, then its not worth much.
Honestly, I don't know that people really enjoy the grind of trading itself or that there's any value in that. Its tedious and mostly luck-based, constantly refreshing and bumping forum threads for months... if that grind could be translated into a more playable grind [earning NP, doing a daily, some tie-in app game, whatever] then... doing /that/ for months would be more of like... a choice and a real 'game'. Its unfortunate the one and only way to get a UC is forum nonsense, and I think very few PC members even want to be having to do it. I'd sooner eat rocks or play Meerca Chase every day for 3 months to earn a UC credit or Whatever! I think the only thing some traders value is the idea of their own time having been 'wasted', but at this point that resembles people who always want college in the US to be an expensive ordeal purely because it was an expensive ordeal for them. I see most traders just eager for others to not have to suffer what they did. Whatever they do I hope there's a few options! As it is if you're antisocial in any way its simply impossible to get a UC legally. If only there were other grinds.
