Also require some cleave people to devise the logic to get the game to work. I'm sure they'd grab the previous version of the schematic and design notes, but still adding the new gimmick/widget would be interesting. Oh and ensure that it only comes into operation when it's required.

FYI.Something that might help is that I had a stepdad taught me and about the only decent thing he taught me is that when you have a stripped out screw hole in wood, just take wooden match sticks or wooden toothpicks and glue them in with white or wood glue. Once dry, just screw your screws back in. When I ran a arcade back in the early 80's I used to do this. I never had one come out.

Hammer a Golf Tee into the hole with some wood glue, I have found to work quite well also with the same result as Hofsan1.. Just clip, cut, or saw it off once the glue dries.

I love your thought process into solving the problems. The way you go to is impressive. Thanks for taking the time to explain the little details. I would be interested in more videos of how you clean and adjust those switches and cleaning the Jon's plugs.. it might sound so simple but the older ones are more intimidating then the newer ones are to me. Thanks again Bryan
@LyonsArcade
@LyonsArcade 5 лет назад
The older ones definitely seem more complicated, but once you realize that the switches can only be on/off , off/on , or three way... you can usually get them pretty much running without even having the schematics! So they don't cost much at all to fix, just a little time cleaning and adjusting :)

Joe, I adjusted the score wheels so that the top switch was open on 0. You were spot on, that problem is happily solved. A new “problem” has raised its ugly head😤. When pushing the start button all score wheels reset to 0 (👍), BUT play does not start. Instead, the Game Over light comes on and there is absolutely no play. I pushed the Play Button again a few times (after a pause between each attempt) and each time the Game Over light comes on and no action. I’m hoping you have an answer. Thanx for your willingness to help a novice pinballer such as myself🤪.

Set a couple of the reels back to 1 or something, open the playfield up (prop it open), and press the start button. Watch really close to see what happens, you'll see several relays turn on and off, and the score motor start turning.... you might have to do it a couple times to tell for sure. Pay attention to the reset bank which is all the relays that get reset at the same time by that big coil and bar, see which ones are turning off and on, etc. and then we can compare that to the reset sequence listed in the manual and see where it's stopping.

Greetings Joe, sorry for being a pest. I did as you previously suggested, but to be truthful I didn’t understand what I should be looking for. The Game Over is driving me batty! Might what I share next contribute to the problem? I installed a new pop bumper assembly. It came with a SW-11A-35 switch, the original part was SW-11A-37. Didn’t realize they were 2 different switches. I installed the new one (the old one had a broken plastic spoon). THE PROBLEM: I cut and left the 2 yellow wires (both were attached to the same switch terminal) AND cut and left the 2 gray wires (both of these were attached to a different switch terminal). So, the cut yellow and gray wires are attached to nothing. Could this possibly be the reason the Game Over does not allow play when the Start button is pressed? I really, really appreciate your help.

Recently started to enjoy older, vintage pinball machines. We bought two. One is a Jungle Lord. We want to replace all of the old lights but we get confused with the types to be purchased ie. 387 versus #44 etc. We'd like to repalce the old ones with LED lights. Can we do this? If not what lights are used in the Jungle Lord? Help. Great video by the way.

Joe, The coin unit last position break switch should not be bent over like it is. The long leaf should be on the other side of the rotating post so it pushes the switch blade up to break the connection. It works but a lot of unnecessary strain on the switch...and looks bad to boot.
@LyonsArcade
@LyonsArcade 5 лет назад
That make sense, I thought it looked different than I'd seen before (which is why I went and looked in the schematics) but I never thought about it going the other way, that would be much more reliable :)

@LyonsArcade

I heard from a really old guy one time that the way some places used to do it was, when a game was new it was 3 ball, but then when the game got old and they got newer games, they all cost the same so they'd make the older games play 5 ball so you got more bang for your buck.

My brother Donnie is the world's best at that kind of stuff. Everytime we're working om something, he thinks of things I would have never even thought of, we were working on a wall one day and had bricks laying all over the place, and had a rope I needed to cut, i'm looking around for a knife, a blade, anything, and he picks up a hammer, hits the rope over the edge of a brick and cuts it clean in half. We're actually going to start a channel for him pretty soon on here, I'll mention it in some of the videos eventually it'll probably be a bunch of craziness, LOL

Great video very informative ans helpful. I'm a newbie that just picked up.an old Bally Nip It machine, and I could have used help with HOW you actually clean everything and with WHAT. I got the used file and cloth but seeing the process would have helped me a lot. Also do you recommend electrical contact cleaner if the machine has heavy buildup throughout from sitting in a moist area for an extended time? Entire lower area has a light film. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks -amazinsnyderman-

Thanks for your great videos!! You helped me fix a Jubilee pinball that was in a total mess. Many hours but a lot of fun. One thing I don't get right, the shooters on left and right side of the flippers won’t fire, it's acting like on your video 24.30. The scores works fine 300 or 30. Sometimes it's fire. I have changes the coils but that didn’t help. How did you get your shooters to work? Thanks! Markus
@LyonsArcade
@LyonsArcade 4 года назад
Do yours not fire at all, or are they weak like these were? Basically when they're weak (or not working) new coils hardly ever fix it so you can save some money on that in the future. The way they get their power is through the switches that close on the schematics, to short the coil together, so one of those switches is dirty enough or opening too soon, so that it's not strong enough to fire. There is a 'shooter relay' that pulls in that is what shoots the ball out.... so the switch on the shooter relay may be dirty, or there is also a switch on the score motor, at cam switch 4A that is inline to it....
@markusolsson1212
@markusolsson1212 4 года назад
@@LyonsArcade Thank you Joe!! You were right, the switch 4A on the score motor, the small contact on the switch is gone. I have a score motor from a Star Pool that I hope a can take parts from. Thank you so much!! Can I donate in any way for your great help?
@lorenfriday9067

Joe, your videos are greatly appreciated. Thanx for all you do to help us novice pin ballers. I have a 1976 Bally Flip Flop. When hitting the Start Button all 4 score reels reset to zero, but clicking score sounds will not stop until unplugged. Any thoughts?
@LyonsArcade
@LyonsArcade 4 года назад
The clicking you're hearing is the reset relays in the back that reset the score reels. So the way it resets the reels is there is a switch on each reel that only opens when it gets to 0, so if it's not on 0 it has power going to it, through those reset relays, and when it gets to 0 even if the reset relay pulls in it can't turn it anymore. The reset relays will continue to click until they know that all the reels are at 0, which it can tell by a seperate switch on each score 0 that also opens up at 0. So basically your problem is, when the scores get to 0, at least 1 of them the switch isn't opening up on the top of the score reel that tells the reset relay to turn off.

Hi joe, I’ve got the exact same machine and was wondering if you have any suggestions about fixing it! The lights are all okay and all scoring works however when you lose a game the ball doesn’t go back to the plunger and it stays on the 1st ball. I’ve never worked on a pinball machine before and despite watching the video and having a look for my self I can’t seem to find a fix. Let me know if you have any tips
@LyonsArcade
@LyonsArcade 5 лет назад
Does the ball kick out alright when the game starts? it sounds like you have a problem either with the outhole switch that the ball lands on, or the outhole relay.
@OfficialRyanMolyneux
@OfficialRyanMolyneux 5 лет назад
Joe's Classic Video Games it never kicks out, at the beginning of a game or when you lose a round. However when the ball lands on the switch the points calculate for that round!

instead of making new holes for the broken flipper why not use 3 raw plugs and then use the orginal holes?

I didn't see any reason to use the original holes, took 5 seconds to screw the screws in next to them...

Really good info on how to repair! What is the lock relais for?
@LyonsArcade
@LyonsArcade 5 лет назад
The relay goes off when the power goes off so it basically is set up so that when you turn the power off in the middle of a game, when you turn the power back off the game is over. You can actually take it out (and bend the switches to always be on) but the game won't be over when you turn the power back on. Not too big of a deal.
