Mother Nature gives us a challenge in our gardens. Dipped in the high 20s (coastal Virginia) last night, so I hauled in a few precious pots of young hydrangeas - a gift from our son. By Thursday it will be back in the 70s. I am tackling one flower bed at a time, weeding, raking and mulching. I, too, am disposing of "clutter" in our garden beds and I am liking the simplicity. I love your garden and the new door project will be fun to watch.

What a prize of a door! No doubt you 2 great DIY'rs will make it work beautifully and give it that cottage-y feel. I liked the flow of this vlog & small bite updates. Cold here in SW PA Zone 6 - snow, ice, high wind - what an awful 4 days we've had. Freezing rain tonight - warming up tomorrow. 10 day looks decent.

Yay, Laura!!! This is an awesome idea for a new series! I love seeing the thought process behind your garden design and gardening adventures!!! I’m as interested in the why of people’s gardens as I am in the how of people’s gardens. - The Dutch door is going to be darling!!! You are making all my gardening dreams come true with your beautiful greenhouse and now a little miniature cottage/shed! And no, I will not agree that the three roses for the trellis was too much. Girl, you know you’re gonna love it when they all bloom profusely! LOL! Can’t wait for more, more, more! Thank you for giving me something to look forward to watching!!! You’re so wholesome and fun! Definitely a kindred spirit!!!

Laura~ so glad you are back! I've lived in my new house for exactly 4 yrs now and my gardens are thriving but I'm in a funky 'fix it' mode as well! There are things I need to change that I don't like anymore. I have deer issues in my neighborhood so that always gives me challenges here! These fit it videos have helped me to not be afraid to make the changes. My problem is deciding which thing to tackle first! I'm 67 and don't have any real help in the garden... sometimes you just need an extra pair of hands with doing things! I love how you removed the fence to open up your backyard. Your greenhouse is the focal point now and your eyes immediately go right to that! I also agree bringing in evergreen along the white fence will add texture and color... maybe several spruce trees? Just a thought! Can't wait for Spring after the low freeze this week here in Southern NJ! Can't wait to see all your changes in full bloom! Choosing Joy ~ stephanie

Laura, I laughed out loud when you said, 'baskets, I don't need any more baskets. I responded with, 'Hi, my name is Margie, and I have a basket problem, lol! I probably buy way too many baskets because one of my brothers used to tell me ...You're a real basket case, sis, but we love you anyway! 🧺 I love your idea of gathering multiple garden items together so I don't repurchase them and can see what I already have. There are so many areas of my garden that I need to fix ...so I'm loving your 'Let's Fix This Garden' videos! ~Margie😍

Hey Lynne... Stephanie here from NJ... You mentioned alliums coming up... this is my first year growing them and of course I planted 200! I've been so concerned with losing them as we had 3 nights of 25 degrees...so far only a few got brown tips on the leaves... the rest seem fine. The 10 day forecast looks better! Hoping for the best! Any tips?

@@videoability1 hi Stephanie I thought I was doing well planting up 80 alliums and you’ve planted 200 🤣 brilliant!! . I’m in Alberta Canada 🇨🇦 so I keep them mulched over to protect them and then leave it to the gods. A little bit of snow doesn’t seem to bother them too much but I’ve lost some in the past when we’ve had a chilly spring. Good luck 🤞

Laura, I’m loving this format of your Fix it videos. It’s like an extended Instagram story. It was in the upper 60’s here in Georgia today, and I was out in the yard pulling weeds, and I planted 2 new oak leaf hydrangeas. I realized today, that I have not been chronicling in pictures all the work Ive been doing in the back yard. These videos remind me that everything takes work, and that comes in stages. It’s not instantly photo ready, as much as we want it to be. I’m working the next 2 days, and by Wednesday, the high here will be near 80😳, and Thursday is a 90% chance of rain. Spring here is always so sporadic, but things are waking up and looking wonderful! Looking forward to next Monday💙

Thank you Laura for sharing everything with us! We had some hot days of 78 this past weekend so I took advantage and worked outside…We moved from Houston zone 9a where it’s hot and humid almost year round to the high desert of New Mexico zone 7a (30 minutes from Santa Fe) where we actually have 4 seasons…love it! However it is dry desert and with climate change it will only get harder to garden in (dry rocky high alkaline soil)…We have a little over 10000 sq lot that was not touched for 7 years so you can imagine the work I have to do with all the weeds that’s grow here (just about all weeds are evil with little hair like stickers on them like cactus😖)…But I love the view of the mountains and I’m determined! I enjoy all your videos please keep them coming💚 Going to work outside every day after work now that we have more daylight and temps have cooled down to the 50s & 60s again for this week..
