:D heads up this is the pilot episode AND episode 1. I put my reaction to both into one video cause I thought it would be fun. Each reaction will be 2 episodes for Adventure Time. LET'S GET HYPE!!

Fun fact: Jake is voiced by bender from futurama and lady rainicorn and BMO is voiced by candy from gravity falls. Also Ice King is voiced by spongebob

Fun fact about the pilot, Nickelodeon actually turned it down and went with a show that ended up being hated instead, while this ended up becoming one of Cartoon Networks biggest shows

It’s wild how she basically correctly profiled every single main character episode 1. This is gonna be a fun ride!

She did say Pen, that was Finn's old name in the pilot. To be clear the pilot isn't like the first episode, it was basically just the pitch version Pendleton Ward made for Nick. It actually ended up on Cartoon Network and his name was changed to Finn.

First off: yeah, Bubblegum is voice by Hynden Walch, Starfire’s VA in Teen Titans and GO! Secondly, fun fact: the creator of the show, Pendleton Ward, originally pitched the pilot to Nick, and they turned it down. Alongside Regular Show, Steven, and Gumball, Cartoon Network producing Adventure Time was easily the best decision for the beginning of the channel’s transition to the modern era, which shows if they are still keeping this franchise alive for more than 10 YEARS!!

The "don't squeeze me, I'll fart" line always gets me

Yes Jake technically an Adult, but he acts like and late teen/party college student as he likes to indulge Finn and lives a carefree life. But when needs to he will try to Adult like advice to his brother.

Bubblegum is a lot of people’s favorite character, but no one will be mad at you for shitting on her

Of course there is a lot of people that love Princess bubblegum. I mean... every tyrant and/or psychopath has his own fanbase.

She already loves Jake and has no problem dissing Bubblegum. Youre gonna fit in real nice in the Adventure Time community

Welcome to Adventure Time. As the title suggests, each episode down to each series will be an adventure each time you want it. (I loved the show growing up, and I'm glad it's still remembered to this day.)

I love how this show evolves. Like it starts as a wierd goofy thing but then out of nowhere... BAM! emotional feels!

The adventure never ends

The fact that the first episode is a zombie outbreak is a great way for them to get your attention right from the get-go, usually stuff like this is saved for like the season finally or the next season but nope very first episode😂. This episode is also a great introduction to our characters Finn is a righteous hero with a heart of gold but a bit of a himbo Jake is laid back but very observant and knows more about the world and it's rules And Princess Bubblegum is a mad scientist, has a very big ego, and can't seem to admit when someone is smarter than her All of this in one episode that was only around 11 minutes long, that is impressive

Yeah, forgot how childish and light-hearted this series could be, wait until later episodes...they just hit different

There's a lot of shows that have taken inspiration from this show. But watching it as a kid, it felt super different from all the other cartoons.

I think this fandom will be fine with you hating/disliking any characters. I'm pretty sure most people in the fandom is in their mid 20s :D

Princess Bubblegum is 100% a menace.

To be fair, schools cant predict which students will grow up to use calculus day to day, so they just try to turn every student into a jack of all trades. Don't feel bad about forgettin, be proud that you found what you're good at.

24:00 Oh no. Even people who love PB openly acknowledge that she's a psychotic dictator who routinely abuses Finn's trust. That's part of her charm. She's like a military-industrial complex in a cute little tiara. 31:00 It's fine! We're not going to see a repeat of the LoK situation.

I'll admit this is not the best first episode, but it and many of the early season episodes eventually get much better retroactively through later retcons.

Actually to a lot of folks in the fandom Princess Bubblegum is basically Princess Warcrimes, so you're good there. The reasons will slowly become apparent.

Btw Lady Rainicorn VA is the same as Mabel's asian friend in Gravity Falls I can't remember the characters name lol

To me Adventure Time is incredibly special because at the (adventure) time I either hated all the cartoons on TV or they were just mid to me. I honestly thought cartoons were just going to be bad forever (I was still young at the time) Not only did Adventure Time revitalize my love of cartoons, but it turned out it was the herald of a new modern golden age of animation. Because not long after Adventure Time in 2010 was Regular Show and Friendship is Magic. And over the next few years we'd get Bob's Burgers, Dan Vs, The Looney Tunes Show, Gumball, Legend of Korra, Gravity Falls, Over the Garden Wall, Star Vs the Forces of Evil, Bojack Horsemen and I could go on. And while not all of these shows are prefect (and tbh I don't even like all of them), I still feel comfortable mentioning them in the same breath. So Adventure Time is very special to me. Not just for being an amazing show, but for being an anchor point for when I remember modern cartoons becoming exceptionally good

This series starts off really goofy and kind of childish, but give it time. It's one of the most beloved cartoons in modern TV history for a very good reason. Fun fact: Except for the Pilot and 4 specific episodes, there's a little waving snail hidden somewhere in every episode. In this episode it's on top of the chocolate bar's head at the 6:48 mark (21:39 in this video).

I’ve never seen a show so consistent in its tone from start to finish. You will love it, that’s a guarantee. You’re extremely observant with every character, everything you said about the princess is just objectively correct. The adventures of a boy and his talking dog bro.

Adventure time is one of the greatest animated cartoons of all time.

The fact that the slumber party episode had implications later on in the lore of the candy kingdom and the war is wild to me.

The candy people exploding when they get really scared gimmick pretty much gets tossed aside in later episodes since it literally doesn't happen again, especially with a lot of scary events that would normally cause them to explode from fear later on

Oh no! They’re nearly almost dead but not quite!

I feel like Adventure Time is the Western equivalent to One Piece with all the foreshadowing and mysterious with various of race and creatures, it has this amazing world with full of adventures even though the focus isn’t finding something like One Piece finding the treasure.

Due to dog's age and i bet that jake is 28 in dog years so he is probably 4 years old in human years? I don't know but i do know that he has an amazing clock to sell.

As a fan of Princess Bubblegum, don't worry, she absolutely is a menace. That's part of why we love her.

The reason ice king kidnaps princesses is actually quite tragic

Even if she doesn’t know the Penguin as Gunter yet, I can totally see Gunter using swears and racial slurs that no one but Ice King could understand

He does sound like a baby. In fact, by the time the show got aproved after this episode, Finn's VA had aged up and his voice got so deep that they had to cast his youger brother for the rest of it.

Supposedly, Finn is named and based off of Fione Mac Cumhail. A legendary hero of Celtic myth with long golden hair and able to attain great intelligence by sucking his thumb after being burned by the salmon of eternal wisdom. Makes way more sense if you read the myth. Anyway, im not super knowledgeable with cartoon network writer lore so i COULD be wrong.

Pilots episodes are always so eerie and creepy. It’s like the show you knew just not how you remember it. As if distorted somehow

Princess Bubblegum is an interesting take on morally neutral/inconsistent (anti-hero-like?) character, she often does whatever she thinks will help her kingdom, and keep the peace across the continent, even if its morally questionable or outright kinda evil. She has an ego and often seems to accuse people of being an enemy before they do anything (that I've seen). A lot of her problems boil down to not telling Finn & Jake the whole story and assuming they'll listen to her to the letter regardless... then they don't.

Bro, hearing Finn's voice in both the Pilot & 1st Episode just took me aback for second lol

The pilot simultaneously meets every possible lore check and still manages to be inadequate as an introduction. I'm glad they chose to drop people straight into episode 1. And honestly, it's fair. Princess Bubblegum has a lot of good points, a lot of flaws, and a lot of pretty good reasons for developing the latter. Severe trust issues are one of them.

Adventure Time is one of the shows that gets better and better with every season.
