LET'S LOOK AT SOME REAL CX QUOTES | 230 miles - £160 difference

As a shipper I get to see the vast differences in quotes on the CX. There is a massive difference in quotes I receive, in this case some are over double.
I think it's good to share this side of the CX as it can be quite insightful to see the prices others quote for jobs and also maybe any notes they add. Hopefully, it can help anyone bidding on the platform
What's your opinion on the prices and what would you have quoted?

Drivers should quote according to job requirements not pence per mile. You did not state what the job involved . Fork on Fork off ? Hand Ball ? Rubbish Collection ? have to wait to load ? All should be considered. You will allways be bidding against the driver who just wants to cover his fuel home.

Good insight for many of the drivers out there pal

I think between £280 to £300 is a fair price if you have full clean feedback . I understand the company forwarding the job will more than likely go for the back load price as long as they have good feedback . I would be doing the same but my worry is that decent drivers will go out of business if they can’t earn enough and eventually people running to low will also go bust .

I personally think for this to be a competitive industry and for drivers to get good prices again, we need to lose around 30% of drivers/ companies. There’s simply too many couriers now willing to be dodgy and run cheaply.

I m not on the CX Thats probably good for me by the sound of the quotes you have received from drivers on the CX . My quote would have been as follows My minimum fee for this job would have been more than your most expensive quote. (lwb Vito van, so not a huge vehicle) Waiting time £5.00 per 15 mins (after 10 mins). 1 hour ish from Bradford Dont think i ll be on the CX anytime soon ...😂😂 I ll stick with my private clients

I’d definitely stick with your clients if you can charge that much in a Vito, you’re doing very well 👌🏼

That's the main reason that I haven't joined the CX. I couldn't compete on price with other shippers. I could probably compete on service though. Cheers

I'm shocked that so few are tracked. Do you give a strong weighting to whether tracking is on or not? Now I'm wondering how often I show as tracked - my CX tracking always goes grey if I switch to another app - but appears to still be tracking. Also strange that 3 of the quotes manage to show a distance - how do they do that? Why don't the others? With respect to notes, can you see them after you allocate the job? I ask, because as a driver, it's frustrating that you can't see notes (or ETA) after you bid - for example, if I bid on 20 or 30 jobs, and then a shipper calls me, I can't always remember what my ETA on the job was, which is even more significant if I'm moving at the time. Really interesting to see this screen though.

Yeh I always do my best to go for a tracked driver but when I’m on the road and booking drivers on the app I can’t actually see that. The 3 showing there distance tend to be single app users not companies who have there app on, and yeh I do think they need to change it so you can see what you’ve put in your notes on the bid as most people are bidding on multiple jobs at a time and can forget what they’ve put.

If you can make some Extra profit off someone doing a backload it’s win win for you and the driver

I always put a random pence on a quote. It’s easier to reconcile invoices in your bank account

it's a 300 quid job unless you are going back home.....a decent driver doing a backload is always going to have the advantage. Good luck with the cold.

You’re right, 300 is about fair, the problem is on CX, every job is a backload to someone, there’s always someone heading in a particular direction. I work overnight for my customers job, so the ‘first job of the day’ is a backload to me if it’s getting me home. Still wouldn’t do it at some of those quotes on there like 😂

What chance has a honest bloke with over over 1000 positive reviews have to get work charging pound a mile 🙈 The screen shot shippers are putting messages in the notes - get me home price Soon be no good drivers left The platform is great at protecting shippers but very poor at protecting “ good” drivers Just my opinion

@@SDC-Steve nope you’re right, I remember when I joined 8 year ago, think you’ve been on similar time Steve? I was getting better rates in my little SWB vivaro than what you can get in a XLWB now. I had zero customers and solely worked on CX at start, and it was damn well good. There’s no way in world you could just work off CX now I don’t think. Anybody quoting £160 for a 230 mile job or whatever it was, backload or no backload, wants a baseball bat round head.

At the minute on the CX from what I can See anyway as a shipper. There’s no chance that’s going for more than £1.15 a mile max more like a £1 and personally I probably would have chose the £175 he’s going home quote to make myself around a slightly higher % return for the company
