Chilly reception is one of the most conceptually hilarious moves ever introduced, and gamefreak has shown once again how they just do stuff with tongue in cheek and do not take themselves too seriously.
In french it's called "neigeux de mot " Wich translates to " snowy of word " wich doesn't mean anything but It's pronounced like " snoword play " ( the beginning of neigeux still doesn't mean anything but if you remove neig from neigeux it's pronounced like "wordplay" just like snoword play, sno doesn't mean anything) Because it's litteraly a wordplay .
I had a similar idea to use Armarouge Lava Plume paired with Baxcalibur, and when Home comes out to also pair with Guts Ursaluna. Then you can potentially burn Ursaluna paired with a trick Room mon, meaning you can switch flare orb for assault vest and paired with drain Punch on Ursaluna for tanking, insane damage, and healing.
Yeah I really considered that with Hariyama actually - I thought about giving it Assault Vest and trying to burn it with Lava Plume instead of Flame Orb, but I really wanted Wide Guard on the set. Still, I could have given it a different item, but I decided that Flame Orb is probably still more consistent.
Even if I wasn’t an avid ice-type fan, I still would’ve probably fallen in love with Slowking this gen just for it getting such a hilarious and brilliant new signature move. I hope Game Freak continues to touch up older Pokémon like this to shine light on somewhat forgotten oldies as we keep getting dozens of new mons with signature abilities and moves.
This strategy might also work with coalossol with his ability. Most of people use water type to activite it but can also work with fire type, if you change its type with a tera type weak to fire you can use lava plume to activate weakness policy and Steam engine
That’s cool, but it takes up your Tera slot to a type that may not be great for Coalossal to have, and to Tera just to activate the ability seems a bit of a waste

Basically it allows Baxcalibur to run more attacking moves since it doesn't have to boost its own stats with dragon dance, and you can just fire off attacks while ceruledge pumps out the lava plumes. Very fun combo!
Hey when the paradox mons come out you should try symbiosis with booster energy. I’ve been building a trick room team with symbiosis life orb oranguru with room service clawizter and booster energy iron hands for sweepers
@@obibraxton2232 The framerate lag is what gets me the most. It's even distracting when simply watching gameplay footage. I can't imagine how bad it'd be if I were actually playing the game.

Looks fun! Will definitely be trying it out. Have you thought about Ice Shard on Baxcalibur? After the few attack boosts that would be a great sneak attack. Not sure what I would switch it out for though
Ooh! I came up with a really cool idea. You should consider trying out Tera-Fairy Pixilate Boomburst Throat Spray Noivern. I would recommend having a Pokemon with Feint in your team in case you may come across a possible Wide Guard Pokemon. If you also happen to see a Psychic Surge Mon(mainly Indeedee F), either bring an Electric Surge Pincurchin or an Ice Spinner user so that the Feint Mon can still be useful. I really want to see that Noivern in action someday 😀.
Yeah, you only prevent the status if you are that type when the status is applied. If you change to the typing after the status is applied, the status remains
I have a strategy that you might want to try in a future video. I tried it on Pokémon showdown that’s is possible in this game. What you have to do is get a paldean tauros (either form) and a cryogonal. Have tauros have the ability anger point (which maximizes attack after taking a crit) and have cryogonal know frost breath (which is alway a crit). Send them out together in a double battle and then have cryogonal use frost breath on you tauros. This will trigger anger point and then let the sweep begin.
Alright….here is my Baxcalibur set up. Baxcalibur use dragon dance for set up and breaking sweep for attack cause it’s Stab but lowers attack and have talon flame use ember with weakness policy after a dragon dance it’s dishing out insane damage and you still have other moves to use as well. It has caught ALOT of people off guard. Tetra Ghost works for him the best IMO
Gimmick idea: anger point tauros Tauros is already pretty good, it resists smthn like frost breath, and it can fit on both a sun team or a rain team with the 2 forms It's invalidated by murkrow, but tauros is already a decent mon without the boost, and wouldn't be bad to use even without the boost
Yeah, with any move that guarantees a crit, if you have a Pokémon let’s say that’s a special attacker that can learn a physical move that always crits, it won’t do too much damage and will activate anger point
You might have said it in the video but if so, I didn't hear it so do terastallized baxcalibur and glaceon still receive the snow defense boost even though they're not ice type when Tera?
I think getting a burn on Glaceon wouldn't hurt much anyway, since it can prevent itself from getting inflicted with other statuses, and it's burn damage would be neutralized with Ice Body + snow. Even if it gets burned, it won't reduce its spatk, so still +2 Blizzard
This is also rly cool with dachsbun, but you can even run lava plume on special attackers (e.g torkoal) because it does no damage to dachsbun and instead increases it’s body press power
Yeah really good point, Dachsbun is a great Lava Plume partner. But Dachsbun avoids Lava Plume damage so you could use a much stronger Lava Plume user. I chose Ceruledge because it has a low special attack stat to do low damage to Baxcalibur and Glaceon
Super based for using Glaceon My favourite Pokémon, I’m using her in singles and as such an underused Pokémon no one ever suspects my setup tank ground glaceon Sadly when paradox special attackers get added it’s gonna get a lot worse than it is now…
Baxcalibur-Ceruledge was a combo I had used before in Showdown when Gen 9 was just released and it was so good! I'm glad to see it come to life in VGC 🤩
@@foofootoo Tera Pokémon still retain STAB from their original typings, so I’d think it would still get a defense boost from its original typing. But I don’t know that for a fact. Would be worth testing.

Yeah that's a good suggestion! The team does have wide guard and Baxcalibur deals with fairies once terastallize, and Ceruledge resists too. But there are no direct switch-ins
Is this the surf Weavile and Coalossal from Gen8 but with different abilities? Also you can switch Coalossal in lava plum to get +6 speed if things go south
Glaive rush is really weird, I'm pretty sure it only affects attacks that happen next turn, so using it and moving first means you don't get punished until later

That sounds really fun! I definitely want to play around with Coalossal this generation. Without its gigantamax form it seems less strong, but some tera types look really cool for it...
Wait a second… wasn’t Weakness Policy only +1 to both attacking stats last gen? The text said “sharply boosted” in this battle when Glaceon’s WP was activated here, which means +2?! Also, do you post the EV spreads anywhere? I prefer to make my own copy of teams rather than using rental teams, cause I’m pretty sure you can’t use rental teams when battling friends. I've just seen a little bit of it back when it only had a handful of characters, and the latest was a dude that looked like Accelerator from Index, which caught my attention. I have no idea what substance you could've been on to type out that Ceruledge name though, lolwut.
Wow Slowpoke has a Weird Evolution if Shellder bites its Tail it becomes Slobro if it bites its Head it becomes a Slowking So if that same Pokémon bit it'd Butt it's Evolution becomes Slowass LMAO
OOOOO GODZILLA BOY??? I saw his baby form in my playthrough by chance (I was weird and explored before actually challenging any gyms, so the ice one was my second gym) and used him for my playthrough. I'm suuuper interested to see what you come up with!
The water typing on Slowking is actually super nice, but galarian Slowking could work. Just watch out for ground type attacks with the galarian Slowking/ceruledge lead
i love this team i wonder if slowking chilling reception will work in series 2 with an iron bundle on his team… flutter mane shadow ball might ruin my dreams though…
I ran it starting like 12/27. It’s gotten me to like ultra ball league so far. Using chilly reception instead of going water Tera bax off the bat might be better off.
Who else thinks terrastilization should be able to fix status moves? It's weird to see a fire type die to burn. I honestly expected Garchomp to not be burned after terra. I think terra Electric should cure Paralysis, Fire cures Burn and Poison/Steel cure Poison/Toxic. Maybe Ice or Psychic could even cure sleep.
This mechanic has been seen before cos of Soak - in previous generations you could soak a poison type to change it to a water type then poison it. If it switches out and back in, it will be a poisoned poison type!
