I’ve been using a DIY remineralizing toothpaste for well over a year now. I definitely recommend it. My teeth are no longer sensitive and whiter than ever. I recommend the recipe from Bumblebee apothecary.

I wash my eggshells right away with hot water, put them on a sheet and let that dry on the heater. I crush or grind them and use them as plantfood for tomatos. Helps against tomatoflowers roting.

I kept chickens for years. When I used an egg, I simply crushed the shell in my hand and threw it in the chicken scrap bucket that went out daily. I'm going to check out consuming it for myself. But if the powder is just for the garden, I don't sterilize or bake in the oven. I just dry them out on the counter and them throw them in a larger container until I'm ready to grind into powder and use in the garden. Love your videos!

Thank you and good tips! I agree that the sterilization process is only necessary if you were going to use them as a nutritional supplement.

Great demo! I've been using powdered eggshells in the garden for a long time but hadn't thought of the other uses. My system might cut down on the work if you only use them in the garden, not sure if it is safe for human consumption though. Every time I have egg shells they go into a baking tray in the oven to use the residual heat from whatever I was making. If I hadn't used the oven I just save them for next time I use the oven, they can end up looking a bit scorched but it makes the job quicker.

Useful video, thank you for spreading this knowledge. I will eat them (supplements). Question: if instead of boiling them right away, I store them in the freezer (until I have enough of them), then once enough, I boil and cook them in oven: that'd be ok too? Or the freezer would just help keep the bacterias alive? [I thought all I needed to do was wash them under warm water, put in freezee, cook.] Thanks again, more people need to know this, and stop wasting so much.

You could! Or it would be ideal to not stack the shells and then all of that should get cleaned out in boiling and just strain off the shells from the water and any other cooked egg pieces. Thanks for watching!

How long do they last out on the counter after boiling and letting them dry if saving in a bucket to use for supplement powder when there’s enough shells collected? Can they sit out in a open container only so long when dried out before grinding down into powder?

@FromScratchFarmstead
@FromScratchFarmstead Год назад
I'm not sure, may be best to check with your medical provider. Thanks for watching!
@Ad_Inferno
@Ad_Inferno Год назад
As someone with gallstones who has also tried this, I can say for that issue it's perfectly fine. Gallstones have no relationship whatsoever to calcium intake. Kidney stones would be one to talk to a doctor about - I would say if the person has been told to consume a low calcium diet or to avoid calcium supplements, then eggshell powder would not be safe for them. However, oddly enough, a diet low in calcium is a known risk factor for kidney stones. Oxalate and sodium consumption are strongly connected with the development of kidney stones, so definitely discuss with your healthcare provider whether you should be 1) reducing sodium intake and 2) increasing low-oxalate sources of calcium (like eggshell powder).
