What a great kit for someone who wants to give soapmaking a try! They would spend more than that to get everything they need separately, so yeah, what a great idea! And you make it look like so much fun! I bet Makesy is going to sell a lot of kits after this video :)
Oh my! Shut up and take my money!❤ I'm a beginner, meaning never made except melt and pour. Lol. I'm a new subscriber, and I truly enjoy watching your videos! You've inspired me to start soap making! Thank you, Ellen!
@@EllenRuthSoap Good afternoon AWESOMENESS.I 'm confused on how to use the 50/50 lye solution. I plan to use my own formula/oil blend, with Makesy lye solution that I currently have. Yet, I do not understand how to find out implementing the amount of extra water that I'll need. I use a Winston & Walter 7.5 pound soap mold (20.13" L x 2.56" W x 4" H), With a 1.5:1 ratio of water & lye. Also, use a 7% superfat, 3% citric acid, and 1% silk fibers . Please help 🙏🏽
Wow, that kit is no joke. I would have happily paid full price for it a couple months ago when I started making soap. I didn’t get near as many items in the soap making kit I bought on Amazon. I love that the kit comes with a scale and stick blender and PPE… Anyone who buys it will be a very happy soap maker, for sure.
The 50/50 lye solution from makesy is what I use in my soap making I don’t mess with lye I don’t even care to pay the extra money 😂 I’ve used their formula and let me tell you very very good for someone looking to begin their soap journey. Also all my molds are from them 🤪
I love the 50/50 solution. I know of some other shapers that make their lye 50/50. My question is, how does the water discount work? I have several recipes that call for a water discount. Would love some feedback.
@@mitchmitchell8062 if your using 50:50 lye solution let’s say 14oz of lye solution then you’ll only need 7oz of water so half of your lye measurements
Ellen I have been wanting to learn how to make my own lotions and butters. I looked on RU-vid and found your videos. I just love them. After watching some of your lotion videos I checked out your soap videos and they really inspired me to try making some. I watched this video and ended up purchasing the kit today. Even though it’s a little intimidating, I can’t wait to try it . Thank you for sharing your talent.
I really enjoyed this. I have most everything I need for now but this is a wonderful way to get started. Takes all the fear and guesswork out of getting started. I would like to make my own 50/50 lye to use with my own recipes. Would you or any of your wonderful viewers out there point me in the right direction? I appreciate any comments. Thank you for a very fun video🌹who knows- I may just get the kit anyway and give my current stuff to somebody wanting to start out.😊
Thank you Ellen!!! I’ve been making soap for a few years, but was as excited as you seeing this kit! I ordered it. So glad you made this video; the soap is lovely 🥰
Wow 👍 that was awesome! Yeah I wish I had that on my first time too about 30 years ago!! 😊 But, thanks for the demo 👍 It still looked very fun & I might get it too😅
Oh, how pretty that soap turned out to be! 👏💖 I guess it would be considered a brine bar? Or was that not quite enough salt? I think kits are a great way to learn. I began with a comprehensive kit from Bramble Berry more than 5 years ago, and still use many parts of it. I don't know if they still sell such an all-inclusive kit anymore, but it certainly made my first attempt simple and successful! I'm impressed with that lye solution that Makesy included - how easy and quick that makes mixing lye for a beginner! And their packaging and branding are gorgeous. Thanks for the demo! 🙏
I could listen to you all day. Your enthusiasm is contagious! You have made me want to order one of these kits too. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. ❤
I ordered the kit! I can’t wait to try it out! I love the mold! I am so excited you found this! I’ve used bramble berry only so I’m looking forward to something new! I’ve learned so much from you and I’ve started my business called Mama B’s Homemade and I’m in Kentucky! Thank you for being a great teacher!
Thank you Ellen for all you do for all us. After years of watching you and others, I have finally decided to try my hand at hand at make CP soap. Once I master it, I'll add it to my line of products which started with wax melts then candles then grew 😅🤣
WOW! This is a fantastic beginner kit!! I wish something like this was around back in 2013 when I first started. I think those gloves are perfect for people who haven’t messed with lye before. (Love your giggle🫶🏻😉)
could you PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEAASSEEEE make a video on how you would calcite and price your products? I only ask because you're just so articulate and detailed so I know your breakdown and explanation would be received by anyone and everyone wondering how to price their own individual business products too!
They are beautiful! I do a 48% discount. I also add 4 Oz of a vegetable or fruit purée sometimes I’ll add 3 ounces of coconut milk or powdered goats milk. I did get aloe Vera juice. I’m freezing it into cubes then I’m going to use that for my lye solution. I’ve done a 50/50 lye solution before. It turned out awesome. I didn’t know that u can buy lye premixed. That makes it so much easier n safer. I’ve been making soap for 7 years n I had no idea u can get lye like that. Thk u! 🖤

You have done it again with this video! I browsed all thru their site and have decided to buy their candle money making kit! The kit comes with everything that I will need. I make CP soap already so o figured instead of buying all items peerage like I did for the soap I’m going to buy the full kit!! Thank you again for another OUTSTANDING video 🎉
Wow! What an amazing kit it has everything in it to start soap making,I could not believe what you were taking out of the box ,such a great idea for someone who is starting soap making and so much fun as well.Thank you Ellen for sharing😊xx
Lovely Kit Ellen. So you would be okay about soapmaking without a digital thermometer? Kinda fundamental don’t you think? So an extra piece of equipment people will need to buy to support their process. I would have to myself. Temperature checks are vital. And the Trinity Blend? - 33% Coconut Oil, 33% RS Palm Oil & 34% Olive Oil? If so, a nice hard, bubbly & creamy soap bar from easily accessed oils that are not too expensive. This kit is a great teacher in the wisdom of master batching oils & lye - for that reason I love it! xx
WOW😍 This kit is awesome. So bomb. It comes with everything you could possibly need. I will gladly buy this kit. It would be way more buying each individual thing separately. This is a steal. The soap came out pretty as usual.
You are a joy to watch and a great teacher. I pray God continues to bless you. Thank you so much for the information. When I get good and going I will be sure to shout you out on my page and I will send you a sampler box! God bless and keep soaping on!
That is a great kit and so well put together! I can’t wait for you to make the lavender sage. I made for the first time per customer request and I am in love with the fragrance. It’s a winner for me.
Ty for sharing it’s a great kit, I loved the purple mica, just loved it. Did you missed the tall and skinny, lol I love the tall and skinny soaps. So beautiful.
Ellen. This was fun. My sons are both interested in soaping. I may buy each of them a kit! Thanks for sharing the discount code. I do have a question. It looked like you reused the lye container for your color blend
Dear Ellen, what a beautiful kit! I would love to have the Makesy immersion blender! To cut the soap, would it be worth putting alcohol on the cutter so that it doesn't stick so much to the soap loaf? A hug from Guatemala!
Thanks for sharing I am just starting on my journey for soap making I really enjoyed watching your unboxing but I don't know how to find the code for the Makesy supplies discount
Hi Ellen, what do you do with your soap scrap? I'm thinking to purchase the beginners cold kit, it's a little pricey but it looks easy, and I love the way they turned out.
So I have one question for clarification When you split the batter for the coloring can you you the same container that you used for the 50/50 lye solution or do I need a clean container. I’ve truly enjoy following you and you are a wealth of information for me who is fairly new to soap making. Thank you so much for care in what you bring to your videos.
Maybe that salt was meant for both soaps they provided for? Maybe .5 oz would have made it less crumbly. It's a great deal. I'm surprised BrambleBerry has never done the whole shebang...other than the oils premixed. I was looking at that 50/50 lye like 'uhmmmm'. LOL. I've seen Makesy on here and looked at their site and wondered about them. They are newish to me. I'll have been soaping for a decade next month. Wish something like this had been around in 2013! Have a great day :)
Omg the money I could have saved if I knew about this kit two years ago. Oh well I wouldn’t have made my first bar. It was a goat milk and oil bar. 🎉💃🏾
Ellen, I don’t know if I am missing it or if the link to the book isn’t in the description. I received my kit and I’m excited to get started but I don’t have any instructions 😂 Can you please post the link to the instruction book? Thank you 😊
I definitely need the goggles. My safety glasses fog up because I wear a mask during the measuring of the lye. I now wear one pair safety glasses during the measuring of the lye and then I switch to a different pair once the measurement is done, so I can see.
Do you know if they make the trinity oils without coconut oil. My kiddo is allergic to that oil and i would like to make soaps that she can use . If not do you know anyone has those types of pre made oils I am doing a lot of heavy research right now just wanting some insight from a expert from someone such as yourself I love your videos you inspired me to make soaps and body butters and your joy and love shows in your videos and i hope to meet you one day and work together You are a true representative of doing what you love and being happy ! Thank you so much
Adoro os seus vídeos gostava de saber fazer sabao artesanal como você mas não consigo encontrar os óleo que são usados ,tenho muito creme hidratante em casa ,sera que substitui algum óleo será que dá para utilizar obrigado
This kit comes with everything needed to make soap. Also, here is a video with soap recipes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SO5n4uWEVO0.html

This is a good beginners kit with a few concerns, too much plastic packaging in the kit, makesy need to address this, then the ongoing cost of pre-mixed lye and oils is very expensive, eg 2lb oil $19.95, 1.5lb of lye $12.95, you can purchase the oils and lye flakes much cheaper, and simply mix them together, it's not hard, it's just a 33% palm, olive, coconut mix, and 50/50 lye/water, you are definitely paying for the convenience, sadly makesy are very good at fancy marketing, I'm a bit sad to see Ellen promoting this kit, she is very environmentally conscious, this kit is unfortunately not, with so much plastic to deliver small quantities of initial an ongoing ingredients, saying that the kit is great for beginners to introduce them to soap making, it would be better of makesy to make it a bit more environmentally friendly
I hear your concerns. I think the point of the kit is to make it super easy for a beginner to make soap for the first time and have a "fool proof" recipe and method. I enjoyed the kit💕
Sorry Ellen, but I am really disappointed that as an experienced and regarded soap maker you obviously allowed your sponsorship and commissions to interfere with providing a honest review of this kit. I would have pointed out that while it is certainly true that the soap is "safe" to use and sell in two days, that it is because the saponification process is complete and there is no active Sodium Hydroxide present. You know as well as I do that soap needs to cure a minimum of four to six weeks...not just for water evaporation to produce a longer lasting bar of soap, but also for the crystalline structure to form to produce a gentler bar of soap. Fresh soap may be 'safe', but it is also harsh on the skin. You said repeatedly that you were going to follow the instructions as if you were a new soap maker which you did and didn't do. You sort of did when you dumped in all the salt and clay since the instructions didn't provide any measurements (as you noted), but at the same time, this kit is supposed to make two batches of soap so you should have only used half. You didn't when you noted that floral fragrances oils tend to accelerate, so you deviated from the instructions and didn't add the FO until after you separated the batter. Had you followed the instructions you would have added it as directed, you would have been plopping that batter into the mold. And you didn't when you turned the soap on its side before you cut it because you know about drag marks. Now I don't object to soap kits...it's how I got started, but I purchased mine from a reputable soap supplier which is what I recommend. On it's face it not a bad kit...you get everything but Distilled Water, but I think it's a lot of money to spend on something you're not sure that you will enjoy. I personally don't like "blends" as you are stuck with them; you know what oils/butters are in them, but not how much. The 'trinity' isn't bad since you can assume that it is generally 34% Olive Oil, 33% Coconut Oil and 33% Palm Oil. But if a 'blend' contains multi oils and/or butters, you're going to be using a lot of trial and error (and ingredients) trying to replicate it. If you are only a hobbiest...a blend is probably the best way to go, but if you plan to sell soap, it will get really expensive really fact. And I have issues with any company that sells a blend or kit an doesn't have the individual components available.
