Let's Make Steel Uragaan Fun 

I can’t wait to see how Steel Uragan fairs in the Cr-Volcanic community poll. It now has the power of memes on it’s side.

Steel Uragaan is the middle child

I say, lean into the 'Steel' portion. So, I did a little googling about Sulphur as a propellant. Apparently, in black powder rockets, carbon is the fuel, potassium nitrate is the oxidant, and sulphur is the catalyst and secondary fuel. So we say, maybe it's not just harder because of the steel, but it's actually heavier and hotter. It doesn't roll as much or for as long because of that, but when it does there are small tremors. And in addition to stinky gas or a burst of flames beneath himself, he can release enough of his collective gasses and then ignite them for a sudden jet, launching himself up before crashing down like a massive cannon ball, launching foes in all directions. Think of Bomb jumping in Metroid. But chonkier.

Sulfur hexafluoride is one of the heaviest gases (i took this info from Google), so Steel Uragaan's nest could be infested with it near the floor. That would allow the monster to kinda "surf" on the gas for brief moments during it's rolls, spending more time suspended before landing, which could be used to design very unique moves, such as an airborne land mine arc shoot followed by a big landing chin slam

Steel Uragaan coming in last place guarantees he's gonna be added in Wilds now. Mark my words.

Honestly I remember preferring Steel over base mostly cause it rolled around less which ment I had more time to actually fight it then just watch a "cutscene attack" lol Tho an idea if the chin is more metallic, would be neat if its nest had some metal spots if he slams its chin onto it causes either a high pitch sound to do the loud roar pose or a flash to stun hunters then can go into another attack

One idea I think could work well for Steel Uragaan would be a different type of rolling attack then regular Uragaan. Maybe something like the different materials on him scrapes against the ground to create a kind of spark AOE that spreads out around him that gives the hunter a bigger hit box to dodge and might deal some fire damage. But as a trade off the metals get shaved off as he does this so by the end of the fight through a combination of part breaks and this super move he’d lose some of his friction and begin slipping like Barioth when he tries to roll that could open up more damaging opportunities the longer you last around him. Kind of a start big end small kinda thing. Fantastic video as always, real excited for whatever monster you fix next.

Having the oxidation make steel uragaan stronger sounds weird, but I like it with the idea that the rust moreso "purifies" the ores, so as it keeps eating more ores and they keep rusting away, you get a higher concentration of stronger, purer metals.

I'm honestly loving this series of "Make a bad/unintresting monster intresting and cool" alot! And i am hella excited to see any future vids! Cause i'd love to see how you'd improbe other less intresting monsters.Or maybe monsters like Gypsecros or Khezu

STEEL URAGAAN SWEEP

I think steel Uragaan should be able to heat himself up like agnaktor or can use more fire attacks like turn himself into a wheel of fire. Maybe even use paralysis instead of sleep. Or you know metallic like aspects

I think you’ve done an amazing job! Honestly impressive! I think it’d be cool to see what you could do with Lavisioth. He really gets a bad rap and I think he deserves better.

I feel an additional problem with Steel Uragaan is its name is not evocative of how it is different then the base species, if it had a name like oxidised or sulphuric I think it would at least somewhat be beneficial. I also think getting rid of Uragaans "eyebrows" would be beneficial to Steel Uragaan, I like the smaller chin idea but if the eyebrows stayed it would take too much focus from the chin. The eyebrows would also prevent a Uragaan with a longer tail from forming a wheel. Regarding your tail shield idea, it would likely be good to have the tail flare out at the end. This would make the tail look more shield like and make it visually distinct from its back plates making its shielding property make more intuitive sense to players fighting it. The loss of eyebrows and the flared tail would combine in a way that it could have the longer tail you mentioned and let it still roll, the flared section of tail would rest on its head rather then between the chin and brows on the base Uragaan.

Hmm, what about non-exploding rocks, too? Just, steel balls that can be whipped by its tail to cannonball them at you, but you in kind can hit them when they're on the ground with your strongest attacks, or bombs, to blast them away. Or, certain attacks could, with perfect timing, knock them back when they're flying at you, Lance shield charge shield bash, Hammer golf swing, SnS shield bash 3, GS Strong Wide Slash, LS roundslash finisher, I'm thinking of, and more besides.

From what I've seen this episode, he's a superior Uragaan, like the epic Coral Pukei-Pukei 🌟. My fave subspecies (in MH, not IRL) feels like its taking the original monster and make it fit in a new environment so well that it almost feels like an entirely new monster 🔄. Didn't research before this episode, but does Steel Uragaan have tar/explosive rocks? 🤔 Thought of ditching the rocks since he eats softer ores, especially in hot areas 🔥. Maybe for "my" ideal versions, emphasize more on regular Uragaan's tar, rocks, and chin, while Steel Uragaan focuses on the tail and armor and shell, gases, and environment much more!!!🌋. Deviants don't seem to have any commonness besides being cool with unique moves and gimmicks 😎. My idea is to consider Crystal-beard as the Raging Brachydios of the Uragaan family, maybe even making Uragaan and Brachydios like Volcano Brute-wyvern counterparts, kinda like what Ukanlos and Akantor do 🌐. Imagine a super Uragaan with crazy environmental play and a spectacular semi-scripted battle 🎮. Thoughts? 💭

Would love to see a Tail-Shield implemented in MH and Steel Uragaan seems like a great candidate! I think we need more stinkers in the roster so bring on the stench but it’s nice to have subspecies that don’t overly rely on just a different ailment.

I think for steel Uragaan they could use the fact the sulfur is extremely flammable and burns a bright blue color rather then the standard red. And incorporate that in his fight some way.

Man I remember fighting him for the first time. I hate him and I want to forget his fight and existence but your ideas make him sound fun so I'm fine with him taking up brain space.

If a subspecies only has a debuff as difference, then armour skills essentially make them normal again. It's good you didn't focus on the soiled debuff.

The thing about Steel Uragaan's diet and moveset is that it uses sulfur... in a usually volcanic, high temperature environment. Several others have already proposed making the gas it releases be ignitable, but how about taking it to the next level: making Steel Uragaan a Blast monster instead of a Soiled (🤮) monster. Changing it from "use a Deodorant every time you want to use a Potion: The Monster" to being a monster that is able to stack on heavy damage would already make the fight more engaging by default. It could keep Soiled as kind of a nod to its 3rd Gen appearance... if they really want to. But only while it is exhausted. When it is not tired, then its rocks expel a single burst of blast powder and self-destruct a few seconds after being thrown, and its sulfur expelling attack is instead a burst of blast powder that quickly ignites and explodes in an area around itself. They can even give it kind of a breath or burst attack, where it spits out a cloud of blast powder in front of itself that, again, quickly ignites and explodes. Or they can also give it kind of a 4U G-Rank Teostra moveset, where instead of the blast powder emitted by the rocks or Uragaan itself immediately exploding, they linger around in floating clouds and only explode once Steel Uragaan does its big chin slam. Though this approach I can see being a bit annoying, having to be zoned out by rogue blast clouds all the time.

It would be interesting if steel uragaan’s chin could quench if he walked through water. That way the chin properties could change mid fight, or even have multiple different properties based on which ores it’s eaten/slammed into its chin

These all seem like good ideas to me. If the developers ever decide to bring back Steel Uragaan then I'd definitely like to see them implement things like this.

While it may be a bit difficult, I believe you could make Zorah Magdaros great. I have some ideas like one of them being that you are able to freely move in and out between Zorah and stations. There are several stations set up to pepper Zorah with cannons and ballista. Also make Nergigante an actual threat cause it is very weird how he appears and you can legit ignore him and he goes away. I would like Nergigante to be an actual threat like he actively hunts down players and imped their progress on taking down Zorah. There is also the possibility that Nergigante will attack the stations as well, destroying artillery.

As a massive hater of Uragaan, to the point where I avoid it like the plague, I don't think I personally would have fun fighting this proposed Uragaan, however, you succeeded in making Steel Uragaan a very cool creature that I would probably dislike a lot less than its normal cousin. Great stuff as always, can't wait for Steel to get a ton of meme 5 Stars in the poll

I wish you could do a video for Cephadrome and the rest of the Piscine gang. I feel they have potential to be fun and not just be the "ugh, those guys again" type of monsters. Love the content man, wish you success always.

you really should also make a video for desert seltas, the bugs need love. i get that stench isn't liked that much but it fits him rather well. it's not poop, like it is for most of the monsters that use it, it's sulfiric gas so it smells like rotten eggs. replacing what is essentially carbon monoxide as sleeping gas with sulfuric gas that prevents item use makes perfect sense for a creature from a volcano. his rocks also having the status was sort of stolen by crystalbeard only, in that cause, it was either fire or sleep rather than both with differing aoe. let steel uragaan exagerate this more with larger stench clouds relative to the fire explosions of his rocks. i agree that his chin should be softer but, with it being less thick from melting rock, why not make his chin moves faster? that tail suggestion doesn't work with how uragaan is shaped, his tail isn't long or flexible enough or that sort of move. maybe use it to guard his side just before a roll so you can't hit his leg to trip him and canceling the roll, make that window smaller. the devs should challenge themselves, for Wilds or its expansion, by trying to make these bottom 2 more loved. last place should have been like one of the forgettable gen 1 raptors or something. the list is also a bit skewed since it's only 1 vote per person for your favorite. i imagine, if we got down votes, this list would look very different. like if we each had 1 yay and 1 nay.

Honestly for a soil monster I actually like the condition coming from something like sulphur. That’s a lore more creative than uragaan just farting on you

Instead of explosions, have molten lava puddles that linger for a short while, add some hazard to his fight instead of them exploding balls

(Not having watched yet): Well right off the bat, just from looking at the pic (from the vote tab) I'd say make it the living smelter it looks like. Some heat/fire damage to it's attacks, able to blast smoke/soot for some variant of the soiled condition, and maybe a mechanic where it can eat mining/ore outcrops around the map for extra moves using molten rock/metal that could probably cool down to bind you if you don't get it off

Personally, I would have loved if Steel could use a rock bomb to give himself a little hop during his roll attack, possibly giving his chin slam a bit more power

I've always thought steel uragaan would be better of as a shiny pokemon like rare spawn rather then his own full creature, but you make a convincing argument, I would still like to hers what you have to say on crystal beard tho, would also like to see this done for cephadrome

I don’t like Uragaan, but I do pity him at the very least. You’ll always have those on the lower rung of the ladders in any series, but I still can’t see worth in them.

I still only of all the uragaans, only timed out to 5th gen master rank uragaan. I definitely got a lot of moves, I think, don't know, long ago, that didn't let me touch it. It is a clock killer. I've killed 3u uragaan and it didn't roll as much, that fire wheel on IB uragaan lasts and lasts. I don't like it in IB, and do like it in 3u because of that.

How could Steel Uragaan lose to Vespoid and Great Thunderbug? There is no way someone actually likes those two

I like the idea of your project, and will participate, but I think selling it as "a big picture look of the whole community" is a bit misguided maybe? Like, it will mostly just be a look at this channels audiance, and other stragglers who get the polls recommended. Having watched your tier lists, I've found my opinion to be swayed on a lot of monsters, which will definitely make me rate them higher. This might subtly alter the results, if a majority of the voters are a certain type of fan. If it was "Unnatural History" hosting the polls, I bet his viewers who mainly consist of ecology fans, would rip Magnamalo's placement a new one, and have Seregios be a top contender. Just food for thought on audiance sampling for statistics.

To be honest, for me, monsters such as Uragaan and basically all other ”hard-shelled” monsters are unsalvagable in sense of fight (they still might be cool looking or represent interesting ideas but fights against them is always an unfun boring chore) Because every single one of them have no real threatening factors, but only that nauseating gimmick of ”your attacks WILL bounce off” which is in combination with their usually too-high HP leads to them being just an epitome of boredom... ”Smack - bounce - smack - bounce - smack - bounce” for like 15-20 minutes straight. Also the fact what they have that ”get off me" move with gass release is not helping, but just lengthens the chore of killing them.. And to be honest, I don’t know why they keeping making monsters such as this.. So, first we had Basarios & Gravios, then for some reason they decided to make even more boring versions of them as Uragaans.. Eh.. I’d say, they at least tried to make Basarios less of that bouncing nuisance in Rise.. Yet Uragaan in World still were the same as ever in the boredom department..
