Let's Play Baldur's Gate 3! It's time to embark on another epic adventure from Larian Studios! Last time, my sanity was tested by the one and only Colonel, now to help keep him in check, it's time for Mutanat and Party Commissar to come along. I had a great and awful idea. We're each going to make our characters without telling the others what we're going to be. Just like meeting up at a group of adventurers in real life. This could go disastrously! I'm here for it!

I like how you are learning all those details of the game for the first time that I already know, but from a perspective of DnD, which I don't really know at all. Makes me learn new stuff!

Fun fact: Shadowheart, despite having the aim of a Stormtrooper when attempting to do any kind of damage, can make the Devil commander easy to beat AND get his sword (that's honestly viable through most of the game with the right class). She has the hard-to-land but very powerful "Command" spell which can actually make enemies, including some bosses, drop their weapons. If you manage to make him drop it and yoink his sword before he can pick it back up then you not only get an insane-o sword but you basically get a big early-game exp bump almost for free since between the Mindflayer and the party he goes down pretty easily without his sword. The same trick can actually be used on several bosses to significantly weaken them, magical shenanigans can trivialize most encounters.

This looks like such a good time. All the BG3 search results are drowned out by the crappy clickbait ones so I had to specifically search for co-op, but this looks like a fun group to watch.

One of them says” we got all the Time in the world because it’s scripted” and then they ignore all the extra turns they had to kill the commander, and go right for the controls

The two races derived from “Gith” the Queen that led their revolt and escape from enslavement by the Mind Flayers are the Githyanki (in the game) and the Githzerai (not in the game but the githyanki have subsumed their archetypes in this game)

If you join an ongoing combat you lose your action in the first round (because you got to spend it from outside the fight by shooting in with advantage). It seems to be a balancing measure to prevent players from abusing it too much.

Yup, on Divinity, a common exploit was to keep a character out of combat and abuse the mechanic.

Yeah. Glad they found a balancing mechanic for that. It was bad enough when characters would get on their mobile phone and stand there waiting for their mates to run halfway across the world before letting the enemies continue the fight.

If only you knew you could have got an INSANE 2hand sword from the commander on the ship if you killed him. The one he's holding that does fire. I'm level 5 and still usin that sword it's so good.

You don't even have to kill him, Shadowheart can Command: Drop to make him drop it and you just go pick it up

Hell, on my first playthrough I was still using it at level 9, unless an encounter has a specific resistance to Slashing/Fire then the sword is viable for most of the game (at least until Act 3, at least for Fighters).

I do start to wonder how big the game is, im 14h in and still in chapter one and i do know from the beta im still missing quite a few region to explore. and you gotta re explore stuff, since quite a bit changed since the last time i played the beta. im still undecided if i like the amount of disruption from the narrator or not...
