Gris is a hopeful young girl lost in her own world, dealing with a painful experience in her life. Her journey through sorrow is manifested in her dress, which grants new abilities to better navigate her faded reality. As the story unfolds, Gris will grow emotionally and see her world in a different way, revealing new paths to explore using her new abilities.
GRIS is a serene and evocative experience, free of danger, frustration or death. Players will explore a meticulously designed world brought to life with delicate art, detailed animation, and an elegant original score. Through the game light puzzles, platforming sequences, and optional skill-based challenges will reveal themselves as more of Gris’s world becomes accessible.
GRIS is an experience with almost no text, only simple control reminders illustrated through universal icons. The game can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of their spoken language.

I think this game symbolises two of the 5 stages of grief anger (red) and blue (sadness) and the statue could be her mother or somone this character cared about

Maybe I'm overthinking but with the black bird and now a red turtle I wonder if this game has some aspect of animism to it. Do the animals represent something more than just creatures?

I might be overthinking it cause I'm suffering from it myself but I feel like this game might be a metaphor for depression? I'm not so sure after seeing that depression achievement cause I feel like it'd be strange to put a depression achievement that's about depression anyways but the thing with "gris" and how "gray" and disheartening everything feels when you're depressed, and the process of regaining colors to your life, and that part where the statue is strangled by that black goo that just strangles her and she crumbles in effect... Idk, I just think it's a pretty good metaphor for what depression feels like, though it might as well be something that has to do with depression but not quite it, or something else entirely, I'm really not sure at this point ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's almost certainly the Five Stages of Grief, which is rather a darling of indie games cos it shows up quite a lot. XD Thar was probably the depression part of the sequence, and I imagine there is a statue for each chapter which tells you which zone is meant to be which. Red is almost certainly anger, green could be Bargaining, and Yellow could be Denial (since all these towers have been restored, buuuut they aren't exactly *real* either). Only Acceptance left after that! Though I do appreciate that they have taken a non-standard order of the stages with this game - Denial normally goes first for example.
