The heist itself wasn't the worst, the way it played out was. One shitty move can make the best laid plans end in failure, in this case; absolute failure.

No, sometimes the game takes a while before you can pull your parachute. Jack's the kind of guy who enjoys playing the game so I doubt he'd kill himself. Gavin, on the other hand, is willing to do anything so as to provide entertainment. If you ask me, Gavin was the one who deliberately killed himself by lowering himself so close to the highway.

you could clearly see the parachute was able to be pulled out, also no one takes the heists seriously, its all a joke so i reckon jack did it for the jokes :)

Actually he jumped because his helicopter stalled/failed, you hear him saying "Oh no!" just before and from Gavin's view you can see his chopper blades stopping and the the helicopter begins to fall. He can't go up anymore so he bails and you can only pull your parachute after about 2 seconds of falling, by which time it's too late.
