Wow. This is the first time I've seen an internet argument with *intelligent* people. Rather than saying "no, you're wrong, end of story", earthboundfanboy121 and supershadow64ds were able to overcome their differences and better each other! The minstrels of RU-vidLand will sing of these two heroes for all of eternity!
No, you don't know what you're talking about. Our Mario 2 is the ORIGINAL Mario 2. Mario 2 was deemed too different than the original SMB, so they thought Japan wouldn't like it. So, they remade SMB into SMB2, the lost levels, and turned the other Mario 2, into Doki Doki panic. Well, someone at Nintendo of America didn't like this choice, so they didn't want the Lost Levels, because it was too similar to SMB, so thus, Doki Doki Panic was AGAIN changed back to Mario 2.
Why thank you. And let me correct myself. Turns out, it WASN'T because it was too different, but because Nintendo had a lot of issues trying to make SMB2 for vertical scrolling and 2 player mode, so they took out the 2 player mode, and added a lot of horizontal scrolling levels. Again, they had limitations with this, so they just ported it to the Famicon Disk System from the NES, and called it Doki Doki Panic.
Don't insult me if you don't know what you're talking about. Super Mario Bros 2 is a remake of a Japanese game known as Doki Doki Panic. We got our Super Mario Bros. 2 because Japan deemed the real SMB2 (Which we know as the lost levels) to hard for american gamers. Our Super Mario Bros 2 was released in Japan as Super Mario USA although was criticized for being little more than a graphical change of Doki Doki Panic. Here's a comparison vid of our Super Mario Bros 2 and The Original Doki Doki
