our fans caught 2 rule mistakes we made in this game: 1. troop recall can only happen at the end of turn 2. jozef cheated in round 2 when using Athena's grand strategist ability - i activated 4 units by mistake (and the limit is 3)
Nice battle report, thx for the video guys Another small mistake: Talents with the same name cannot target the same unit, (rulebook p. 25), so unfortunately the double bolster against the minotaur at 31:00 is cheating too ;o)
Thank you, glad you liked it! I have a quite a few left to paint from the pandors box and then the expansions... :) not sure when I find time to finish that all amongst all the other games, that are coming up.
at 59:00, I don't think you can use Leader as part of Grand Strateagist to get 4 unit activations, but not for the reason you discuss. Grand strategist increases your activation limit to 3. If you use Leader, you would go over that limit. Or rather, you would lose the last unit activation you got from Grand Strategist, to be more precise. MPB rulebook 1.5 Again, great video!
Good battle report for a fun game with pleasant fellows. Sadly, the pretty elaborate activations chaining done via Athena power and the leader skill is not legal (and could be considered borderline cheating, to be honest). You can only activate two (different) units at each of your turn. This upper limit goes to 3 max thanks to Athena strategos power. The Leader skill don't allow you to break this upper limit. So you could not use it the way you did it in this game ;).
Suggestion: If you are making a video, ditch the pipe. Nobody wants to hear you gurgling! Thanks for showing some of the 1.5 rules. I would love to see the new flying rules demonstrated in the future.
I'm aware of annoying sound of my e-cig, I'll try to keep it away, but can't promise 100% pipe free videos, especially the long ones, as i am a terrible addict :(
Hi Josef, you can activate a maximum of 3 units with the strategy of Athena, but at 9:57 you activated Athena, Hoplits, Cécrops and the Amazons. That's wrong?
Yes, you are right, I was cheating there. I have noticed that only after uploading the video. Sorry for this, i must have gotten too deep into planning the turn and misplayed.
At minute 20:00 the Hades player should have draw a card when the hounds died bacause of the Hades ability. Because the Hades power is permanent it also works when he is not in play.
Hey Chris, thanks for commenting! The cages can be entered by Gods, but only from one side. It's the thick boundaries that can not be crossed by Gods or monsters. Sorry if we did not explain that properly.
the changes are not massive, the game was already great with 1.0, but I definitely enjoy the new way "leader" talent works in 1.5 more. Also troops starting on the board is good.
AT 51:00, why can't your opponent use the leader ability? I can't find anyting in the 1.5 rulebook that says that talents or leadership can only be triggered after simple actions. edit: Beacuse he did a recall right? Recall happens "at the end of a unit's activation phase", and troop recall happens after all unit activations. So, there was an error here. Troop recalls happens last, not before hades activates. And leader ability has nothing to do with complex or simple actions, if I'm not mistaken. Thanks again for agreat video. Really makes me get in to 1.5 Edit: you were correct, and I wrong about the leadership. "A unit carrying out a complex action cannot use their talents or powers (active, passive or offensive) for the duration of the activation."
yep, I made a lot of mistakes in that game. I lost time by shooting the dogs (which was almost pointless), not running the hoplites immediately into the rock area, etc..
Hi! I have a question. How did you do 2 damage to Athena at 27:14, when her defence is 8, 8? When you rolled two fives, you had 3 dice in reserve(1, 1, 3). So when you rerolled two fives, and you upgraded them to 6, with those numbers left, you could only have one dice of 8 (6 is upgraded with two dice of 1) and one dice of 7 (6 is upgraded with dice of 3).
Sorry, my bad. I've just read now that result of dice is increased for number you get and not for one. I assumed that it's one, regardless of number you get after reroll of 5.
At 49:26, you said the Spartans didn't have range, but they did considering that Cerberus made that area he was in full, right? That means Cerberus' area was full and your Spartans could have attacked??????
I guess you refer again to the cerberus being "huge" based on the new dashboards - I am not sure about this, but i will check it once i get my 1.5 pledge :)
@@Brothersindice I thought that only one instance of a talent can be used at a time? I thought I read that in the rules. Unfortunately my rulebook is packed away at the moment since I'm moving.
@@Brothersindice Page 22 of 1.5 rulebook. " Multiple talents of the same name cannot target the same unit." Unless I downloaded an outdated copy of the 1.5 rulebook.
Shouldn't the guy on the left not be able to deploy Cerberus on that spot considering the fact that according to the new 1.5 rules Huge figures may never enter areas less than 3? Also, his Hades' Soul Culling shouldn't been active this whole time considering it's a passive skill which means he didn't need to have Hades on the field to use it.
Hi! Cerberus does not have "Huge" type (at least based on 1.5 dashboards, that have been previewed last year) - it is a new icon like flying or aquatic. Also I believe, that you can§t have any other unit in the same tile with a huge unit - it does not just count as size 3, it has some specific rules. Also passive skills can't be used while unit is not on the board.
Ah, okay. Thank you for clarifying that. Yes, I just checked the iconography in the new 1.5 rule book. The only thing is that he’s, Hades’ Soul Culling was available to be used. It’s a passive, but PERMANENT skill, so according to the rule book permanent skills can be used even if they use a complex action or they are not on the board. Just FYI. I’m a late backer. So happy to be able to get this game. I’ve watched all your mythic battles videos. They’re so much fun to watch. Good job! I appreciate your enthusiasm. :)
at 39:07 you throw 1 blind dice with Cerberus and used mighty throw... but you could not do that because you need to throw 2 blind dices becasue he is a monster... and only with heroes and troops you can use mighty throw with only one blind dice...
You mean Leaders ? Take Python. The more Leaders opponent then has, the better, since they obv. prioritize the Gems. If they dont, they will have little power to face you.
