I love how this game judges you on everything you look at. "How dare you stare at this wall or the items in this room. We are judging you.".

I have so many fond memories of this game and now that I'm older I still think this was an interesting idea of what to do with the IP and God, my favorite song is on this title too. It isn't perfect but there's just a ton of little things that didn't hold your hand in interpretation that I'm genuinely fond of. I'm so happy SGF is playing this now for this October, I really needed a pick me up and this will more than suffice.

SHAW...i mean.. CHERYL This is the only Silent Hill game I have never played or even seen an LP of, very excited. As excited as those No Eyes, No Face, Running Pinkish People Eaters.

I respect this game a lot, genuinely, but I really don't think the in-game psychological profiling works very well as a mechanic. Aside from (debatably) horny people looking at the sexy ladies and a few other subtler details that will come up later, I don't think the way you interact with the game translates very well to you as a person. On a first play through I'm looking at beer because I'm trying to learn about the world, not because it says something about me. The design philosophy just misses the mark a bit in regard to how people play. In this way I think Silent Hill 2 did it a lot better. Avoiding or interacting with Maria, or chasing down the more despairing scenes I think does a better job messing with a player's mindset and feelings than looking at beer to get you on the drunk route. It's a better integration of profiling into the game world.

This is my first time seeing this game, and I have to say that so far I respect many of the MECHANICAL things it's trying to do. The phone UI is very neat as well. As for the THEMATIC things it's trying to do...well, I'm reserving judgment. I don't have high expectations, certainly, but surely it has to be better than anything Bloober Team could do with the franchise?

This was my first Silent Hill, and my first horror game. Kind of love it.

I forgot about how good the voice acting is with some of the haunted audio bits. Very scary stuff. What kind of monsters will appear if you stare at MINMO! and Mr. Milkie posters for too long.

I want you to know, they put the Psychology into this one and it has one of the most elusive endings that has only been documented once. Some speculate there may be other endings hidden that nobody has seen, because one of them requires you to make sure you don't make eye contact or look at people when they talk to you ever through an entire playthrough.

The game is making some good and interesting decisions. I know people hate this one so I look forward to seeing how it falls apart but I think it's really fun to fuck with people's memory of the original Silent Hill, I would have liked some more subtle gaslighting though. I will say this is a much weaker opening. You shouldn't have Harry just wander around aimlessly, it seemed like maybe they were holding off on the supernatural elements for a minute but then they went for a much bigger spectacle on the otherworld transition.

I actually really liked this game when it came out, I still think I have the PS2 version somewhere. Now much (much) older, I can see its flaws a lot easier, but I still kinda have an affection for it.

I actually really love Shattered Memories. This is one of my favorite SH games. It has the best song in the entire series, for one, but I also enjoy the atmosphere a lot, the aesthetic, and how the story is structured. Unfortunately the gameplay is terrible, but I don't think there's an SH game with *good* gameplay so I forgive it for that XD

Never experienced this one. I'm aware of the gimmick, and I think it's a neat idea, but I'm eager to see how disappointing the execution will end up, because the odds are definitely not in favor of it working well and being good. That's just IP poisoning there. Nothing to be done about it.

During this video I got adds for sports, beer, and a weird AI voice one for some kind of "father & daughter keepsake necklace". Seems this channel has now been -pigeonholed- psychologically profiled as Dad Content™; I blame how many times SGF said "daddy" during this episode.

I really enjoyed this game as a kid. To be fair, I was... a kid. We'll see how I feel about it with fresh eyes I guess! I still like a lot of its music though...

I sorta bounced off Shattered Memories as a story and a game, but hot damn. Mary Elizabeth McGlynn's vocal talents really shine in the soundtrack.

I vacillate back and forth on whether or not I hate Shattered Memories or just don't like it. I have to say that at least the Devs were trying something, a clumsy first grasp at the sort of Explore/Run/Hide gameplay that Amnesia would perfect the very next year. In it's own way, it's a fascinating combination of decisions, which is way, way, way more than I can say for Downpour, the one that I *do* actively hate for committing the sin of being the most boring thing on earth. Shattered Memories is deranged, and not in a fun horror way but in a seasick, "stoned on bad dope laced with insect poison" kind of way. If The Room captured the exact feeling and texture of having a nightmare, Shattered Memories captures the feel and texture of being stuck in what a critic I favor once described as "[Being in a film] where the detective can't do any detecting, because nothing is connected."

I'm actually one of this game's defenders. Is it as good as 1, 2, or 3? Absolutely not. But it's better than the other ones, even if that's a very low fence to vault over.

Shattered Memories is my favorite second generation Silent Hill game. Sam Barlow seemed the only western dev who considered the town to be more than just an amusement park ride.

I've been struggling to replay this game for years because I only own the PSP version and the display is so small an crappy. But besides the annoying chase scenes, I really enjoyed the game.

God, this game is just DESPERATE for you to think it's smart/psychological. It's downright embarrassing, especially with how basic and downright bad Dr K is as a psychologist.

Back in 2000's when I was already the SH fanatic of my little town, u could never hv made me even try this. I never touched or played a single Silent Hill after the Room, let's say I was not very open minded, and also had to be picky for wallet reasons. Still by looking at this for the very first time ever, I definitely don't regret I skipped it because it ressembles more a indie fanfic than anything else. Origins still looks acceptable and viable, but this is clearly a "Life is Strange" episode and I truly wander what the heck Konami smoked from 2005 to nowadays
