I'm really glad to see this popping up on the channel, I think it really suits your play style. There are so many interesting little stories and details buried in the nuance of System Shock 2 that you get a lot more out of it if you really explore and think about stuff. Also, this was the first time I've seen the little poll thing at the beginning of the video; that was super coolies for some reason.

Deus Ex has some fairly useless skills (medicine and swimming, I'm looking at you) but even if you waste all your skill points there's always a good solution still available to you, it'll just make things a little harder. If you haven't played it, Deus Ex is amazing.

lmao at anyone who thinks Swimming is useless. All you're really telling me is that you hate finding some of the most valuable secrets in the game, and opening up alternative pathways in some of its hardest sections. Now, Environmental Training. THERE'S a skill which steals 2 IQ points each time you invest in it.

@@apugalypse_now You can easily get all the resources or alternative routes that require swimming without any points in the swimming skill, which is the point I was making. There's aqualungs and an aug that do more than enough to get you through them.

PSI Amp is just another weapon Keith, so tilde makes sense since it's in line with the number keys that control the other weapons.

I'm so glad you chose Navy! I may be a little biased, I retired from the Navy. Only a few Sailors are actually trained hackers, so it's kinda interesting that they associated the Navy with hacking. I look forward to watching the rest of this LP!

My game came with different keybindings. Q and E were strafe, A and D were lean. Right click was interact, and I had run defaulted, with shift making me walk.

Hacking skill being necessary for beating the game is a misconception. It is required to hack something at some point of the game, but it can accomplished by using an item instead. There's a psi ability that allows hacking as well.

You chose one of the best (easiest to play) paths for a beginner. A Navy hacker with weapon and research training. My ideal build is the same, only going for Agility over research. Agility makes you run faster, which is quite useful in this game.

Yep, an early blind playthrough of system shock 2 without fully paying attention to the tutorials always seems to be a bumpy ride. I find it hard to watch LPs of this game because players tend to latch onto wrong ideas really early, I guess narrating takes away some attention, which this game requires a lot of, and I find I can't wait hours for them to re-learn the hard way. Maybe just cuz I love this game and already know the tricks, but I also like seeing other reactions to the actual story etc. Good luck, retroactively!

Haha, I'm pretty sure you did the basic tutorial in the wrong order. Should've gone clockwise instead of counter-clockwise. And I think you completely missed out on switching firing modes with your weapons.

12:27 As anecdotal evidence I can say there definitely was a period of time in my English skill development when I could understand commentary most of the time, but struggled with acted dialogue in movies and such. I attribute it to the fact that the commentator is usually heard very clearly over any other sounds in the video, the speech is mostly uniform, and the commentary itself is simpler in vocabulary and structure than fancy scripted dialogue (no offense to yours or anyone else's commentary). I got past it and I don't need subtitles anymore, but the level of skill where it makes sense exists.
