Keith embarks on his quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
CD Projekt RED has said that it is not necessary to have played the previous games to fully enjoy Wild Hunt. While similar to the previous Witcher games, Wild Hunt has improved on several aspects from past games. Combat revolves around an action role-playing game system combined with the use of magic. The fighting system has been completely revamped. Wild Hunt introduces some new mechanics, such as witcher-sense, combat on horseback, and at sea, swimming underwater, and using a crossbow. Additionally, Geralt can now jump, climb, and vault over smaller obstacles. The climbing mechanics have been described as "not exactly" like Assassin's Creed, but more "similar to what we have in Uncharted." Item creation and potion brewing still remains as in previous games, but has been modified from The Witcher 2. There are 10 witcher signs, 5 original ones, each having 1 alternative form.
Each action the player does will affect the world; every quest has a plethora of options on how to complete it, and every outcome is different each time. CD Projekt RED anticipates approximately 100 hours for the completion of the game, 50 of them belonging to side quests, and 50 belonging to the main story line.
The game features a dynamic day and night system, realistic AI, responsive and dynamic environments. The day and night cycle will influence some monsters and their powers, similar to how a werewolf would gain powers during the night of a full moon. The game also features a dynamic beard growth system, in which the beard of the playable character Geralt will grow when he travels between regions. According to the developer, the beard will grow "in different states". However, this feature will no longer be available if the player has downloaded the free Beard and Hairstyle DLC.
Ciri, an exceptional swordfighter with mythical powers, will be a playable character in the game.
Setting
The setting is more than "30 times larger" than previous Witcher games, requiring players to use a sailboat to some locations and ride by horseback to others. However, fast travelling around the areas of known locations is also possible. The Witcher 3 has been described as "20% bigger than Skyrim".
Plot
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt concludes the story of the witcher Geralt of Rivia, the series' protagonist, whose story to date has been covered in the previous versions. Continuing from The Witcher 2, the ones who sought to use Geralt are now gone. Geralt seeks to move on with his own life, embarking on a new and personal mission whilst the world order itself is coming to a change. Geralt's new mission comes in dark times as the mysterious and otherworldly army known as the Wild Hunt invades the Northern Kingdoms, leaving only blood soaked earth and fiery ruin in its wake; and it seems the Witcher is the key to stopping their cataclysmic rampage.

I really enjoyed this part of the witcher, all the planning phase before a fight, studying your enemy and its story to prepare yourself accordingly with oils and potions and bombs, and then being rewarded for it with a swift and satisfying victory.

When Geralt talks to himself like that he reminds me of Norman Jayden from Heavy Rain. I keep imagining him putting on those cool sunglasses and snorting drugs.

A little European help with dates - 12 V 2015 is May 12, 2015. Most of us put date first, then month and then year. Roman numbers are always for months.

Seems much less confusable than American dating system. Maybe one day, America will realize freedom is sweeter with the metric system. Standard is a load of crap for conversions.
@KeithBallardA

Hayden Suddeath This doesn't really seem related to the metric system.
@LordVird

Hayden Suddeath America has already accepted the metric system where it matters, like the military. Also the time convention with e.g. 17:00 hours for 5pm. Educating 300 million of common folks is another mountain to climb, so they don't care.

Keith Ballard I was just relating how English dating seems less confusing to how the metric system is also less confusing.

@@haydensuddeath9837 Old comment, I know, but the American dating isn't remotely confusing. We write it exactly the way we speak it. It's May 17th or October 8th, etc. So why would we write it as 17/5 or 8/10 instead of 5/17 or 10/8? Also, month first makes sense in terms of number size. The month is the smallest number of options (1-12), the day the second (1-31), and the year the biggest. The European way of doing it is just weird and silly. It's out of order for normal flowing speech ("It's May 17th" sounds so much better than "It's the 17th of May") and it can put much larger numbers first (31/1 just looks bad).

I'd say it's not out of greed but rather because of the difference between American and Slavic cultures - otherwise he played quite good and thinking

How do you find the combat compared to Bloodborne? The way Geralt moves in this video makes him seem almost massless. Although I eventually got used to it the combat in TW2 felt like it was missing something, perhaps that feeling of heft you get in the Souls games.
@Rubytyr
@Rubytyr 9 лет назад
ThisDyingEarth I'm struggling with the movement and combat tbh - having just beat witcher2, I find w2 was alot more fluid than this one =/ I probably just need to get used to it.

***** Interesting. Someone else just stated the same opinion and comparison between TW2 and TWH in the comments of ENB's first The Wild Hunt video. Keith may have already made the comparison in one of his videos but I wouldn't know as I don't want to spoil too much of the game before I play it myself. In Marcus' video some of his combat looked clumsy and cumbersome.

***** Been playing this since the weekend and it's taken longer than I expected to get to grips with the controls and combat, and I've got dozens of hours under my belt with TW2, but I found a mod that makes playing with a controller that much easier. Definitely not as responsive as combat in TW2.
@Amaror2
@Amaror2 8 лет назад
I know this is really old, but I just couldn't disagree more. The combat in W2 was horribly clumsy and while I still enjoyed the game for it's other strengths, it was definetly a very weak part of it. W3's combat is better by miles.
@ThisDyingEarth
@ThisDyingEarth 8 лет назад
Can't even remember writing that! Obviously I did. Trying to jog my memory about why I thought TW2 combat was better than TW3. Nope. Been ages since I last played TW2 so would need to try them again to compare, but I'll take your word for it! Is it possible that things have changed since it first came out on PC last year? I know that using the Gamepad Plus mod really helped me get to grips with the game's control system.

You don't speak your thoughts outloud when alone? No? I'm the only one? Don't look at me like i'm crazy. :s lol ;) EDIT: also, way to rationalize your greed there :P You realize back in those times a peasant like that probably took years to buildup that dowry, whereas you as a witcher could make that easily a hundred times over in a city. I know, I know, nice guys finish last, but alittle goodwill goes a long ways in life too. :P

Gah, I'm tempted to discuss this further and more indepth, but I suspect it would simply end up being a clashing of ideals, lol. :) we will simply need to agree to disagree. I "do" understand your point, but cannot fully agree with it's context.

Yuppers :) Still, hope you enjoy it - the controls are pretty clunky, but it still has that "Witcher" vibe like the other 2~

***** Finished this quest yesterday and couldn't bring myself to rob his daughter of a future. It's funny how some players make decisions that reflect their own ideals and values whereas others see it as an opportunity to invert those things.

So, the 10% bonus damage from the specter oil applies to every hit you land I believe. So for 10 successful hits, that would add up to 100%, effectively double the damage you would have had without it. That is why the oils are important, especially on the higher difficulty levels, where you need to wail on monsters a lot to kill them. Great series though, I am enjoying it!
@bencegergohocz5988
@bencegergohocz5988 5 лет назад
10% is 10% it doesn't double your dmg, yes if you hit something 10 times it does 10X10%=100% but the sword hits 10 times too q-_-p 10X100%=1000% weapon dmg 10X1(100%)X1.1(+10%)=11(1100%) come on dude this is primary school math
