Hello hello my friends! You have voted, and I have listened. We dive into DEI as Rome on legendary difficulty!
Divide et Impera is probably one of the most beautiful mods I've ever played. I don't know much about, so we'll learn together. You can install the mod yourself in the steam store, it comes in 3 parts. Do check it out, it really deserves your attention haha!
Enjoy!

That battle showed the realism of war wherein Miscommunication played a big part on how the battle unfolded. Great series btw. I'm a new subscriber.

If you hug the walls as tight as possible the enemy javelin men can't hit your men as easily. Also you can decimate the enemy as they enter the fort if you leave a small gap, by putting your Triarii in a line at a small 30degree opening and having your slingers aim adjacent to this gap. The slingers will have free reign to hit the sides of the pinned men.

You asked what you did wrong so here it is. Your second army had something like 9 javelin units, to use them to the most effect in a choke point scenario make sure you clump them all in the same line, turn off fire at will, and make sure all units make it to the firing line before activating fire at will, and they will decimate clumped enemies without your needing to choose their targets( enemies rear/right rear )

Thank you haha! Missile management done right can indeed do wonders, i’ll try and pay more attention to it! Thanks!

Hi PP, just a few pointers to get greater control over your game if you are interested: Before choosing new spies, champs or digs hover yr mouse over the star at the top right of their character popup it will give you greater details about them to help with your selection (same with Generals). To find the supply and population details of your towns and cities first select the town and then hover your mouse over the top right of the popup. The first shows you the supply available and the second shows you how the population is made up. You will get resupply to your armies once the numbers are over 100. Pay closer attention to the household expansion details because you can add the retainers to individual Generals and spies etc to better effect. Taxes and public order to Dignitaries or armour and increased range or morale for Generals etc etc.

Always interested in pointers! Actually, I need them haha! Thanks a million!

@@yourfirstspear Sure, no problem. There is a guy you should watch and you will see the cumulative effect of managing the minutiae of the game. Very powerful: www.youtube.com/@ATotalHardcorePlayer Check out his 'How to rush Rome as Epirus' video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--rnhkK4cLo0.html&ab_channel=ATotalHardcorePlayer

Love your walkthrough, just 2 things. If you struggle with loading times, consider lowering your resolution setting. You don't really see a difference but the impact on loading times can be huge. I started a legendary playthrough myself as well again and I also installed a mod which deletes the -25 loyalty penalty. Since legendary is really restricting in all areas this seems fair to me. Secessions can still happen but it's not guaranteed every few turns which is a big relief. I also installed a 12 turns per year mod and a mod to increase building/tech times to even that out bit that's just personal taste. But it really makes you more cautious and the AI doesn't outtech you that much either. Also, a 3 turn winter can really work in your favor, but it works both ways. Best of luck 🤞

Not sure whether I want to start modding things just yet, but it is very good to know the options out there! Thank you very much my friend!

Question for you, does the 12 turns per year mod effect when you get your reforms? Or is it still on turn 40, regardless?
@lancesundancer

@@swiperthefox777 hey there. It's been a while but I am certain that the 12 turns per year mod itself doesn't change the reforms, but the increased tech time mod alters it definitely to like 600 turns in, no matter which year you are really in. 600 turns in is quite insane though and not really reachable, you will either get stomped way before or conquer the world in the first 150-200 turn ish.

@@lancesundancer thank you for the answer! I knew it was a long shot if you were still around but you came through! Thank you so much!

Keep your cavalry out of the fort away on the side, that way when the enemy troops break you can ride them down with ease. Plus its an easy way to take out the missle troops.

Yeah I am always a bit scared that the enemy would then spare some troops to protect their flank and/or chase after the cav, so my thoughts are to just have them exit the camp whenever the "blob" is certain haha!

I dunt have too much expertise on the game, but the enemy reinforcement should be distracted and delayed with your cavalry. They normally pursue you with at least two units, infantry, and range units. Your cavalry should confront the enemy range units because they are faster than infantry. When the enemy reinforcement came out, there were only range units, five of them versus fourth of your cavalry, I should add an infantry to deal with the first shock of enemy archer after your cavalry hold them up. Then, each ride is assigned to one of their 🏹. Once you finish the range, you can have the cavalry to attach the rear of your infantry enemy. That's what I think.

I would have focused the reinforcement on their weakest flank, then I move on to the other one instead of focusing both.

That was ugly, never leave cavalry in the base. Have them flank the enemy after they commit to attacking you. All of my fort battles, I only lose a few hundred mostly due to arrows. 4K loses. Wow😊
