Let's play with...a Storm Tropical Surge bowling ball

Let's see how a Storm Tropical Surge bowling ball with it's out-of-box finish compares to a polyester Columbia White Dot ball and a mid-performance level Monster Bowling Loch Ness Monster bowling ball.
Lanes are old wood lanes that aren't freshly oiled...outside first arrow is pretty dry, inside second arrow is somewhat slick.

Underrated video. I like how you showed how plastic compares so serious bowlers can see the true lane pattern being used. (looking at a weak reactive since the center I use refuses to put any serious oil on the lanes anymore; used a Storm Recharge most of last night standing on left gutter) [210-215 avg]

I have a Cherry-Black Tropical Surge and got the Electrify Hybrid, too. I like the Electrify very much. Found the Surge difficult to line up with quickly. I've tried moving left and keeping the ball in the oil till about 30 feet down the lane using the Hy-Road and Electrify. This seems to work nicely and give me more backend. So I'm laying the ball down on about board 16 and targeting board 13 at the arrows. If my ball rolls over board 8 at about 3/4s the way down the lane, I'm in the pocket nearly every shot. Going to try that with the Surge next time out...

Tbh I never use the Surge...center on the video changed the oil a bit and going straight up the boards with urethane or some other non-resin ball is the best option these days. At least I have it in case I ever get coerced into bowling somewhere else where an inside line would work

I’ve got a motiv jackal legacy and this ball drilled same way. Tropical is more stronger an angular🤷🏻‍♂️

What T. Surge was used? Pearl or Hybrid?

This teal-blue Tropical Surge has the Pearl coverstock. Only the black-copper Surge has the hybrid coverstock.

Just out of curiosity, how many bowling balls do you use and how many are retired? When you have time, please shoot a video of your bowling equipment. Love your videos. These lanes remind me of the no longer existing Perry Bowl (Perry, Ia).

I have about 18 balls drilled up and ready for use, but only three are modern resin balls and tbh I never use them. I have the White Dot, a Roto Grip Grenade and the rest are 80s vintage urethane goodies like Angles and Hammers. The old stuff works best where I bowl
