So much to move around the place and building materials to keep organised, as well as tidying to do. Really pleased we got forks for the front and back, front more versatile but can handle more weight at the rear.

Marine ply which is now in very short supply. As an alternative a Garnica Dura Ply will offer a 15 year guarantee against mould and delimitation even without sealing. Alternatively you could go with a fully external plywood en314-2 Class 3 but you would need to seal the faces and edges. Happy to help with any timber related questions or where to source products from. Keep up the good work!

Small loader tractors are like a Swiss army knife - a jack of all trades, but master at none. You could have had a specific forklift, but a rough terrain one is expensive, plus you'd still need a tractor for running things like a mower and many other implements you may eventually want. One tip is when you take your implements or loader attachments off, sit them down onto pallets, so if you find one of them is in the way and you already have your pallet forks on, you can just pick them up and move them without having to faff about hitching and unhitching it to the 3-point linkage.
@chillyspoon
@chillyspoon 2 года назад
+1 for this tip, also an additional tip is to mount those pallets on casters, then you can easily roll them out of the way, e.g. in a line along a barn wall

Impressive lift on the loader👍 if you keep all the concrete yard I wonder if you could get a compact sweeper attachment 🤔

If you want a super stable genuine marine ply, Robins Timber is just up the road in Bristol. “Robins Elite” and “Robins Super Elite” are the standard products for boatbuilding. Expensive, but incredibly strong and stable

You should get a hydraulic top link for the rear 3-point hitch, that is EXTREMLY useful.
@TheRestorationCouple
@TheRestorationCouple 2 года назад
Guessing it could use the hydraulics that the offset flail mower uses.
@jtaulen
@jtaulen 2 года назад
There are also many options to use hydraulic splitters, so by just having 2 connectors you can have both 2-3 and 4-way splitters often controlled electronically, absolutely worth looking into for the future as you might want attachments that need more hydraulic controls as well.

Looks like mdo plywood.. in the 60s - 80s there was a roofing sheet product called Nuralite and this was the sheeting you we're supposed to use with it... Tho many didn't as it was more expensive
@muteposting

You should look at getting a double-acting ram to replace your top-link - you’d then be able to tilt/tip the rear forks.
@davidtaul4542

MDO plywood is water-proof and weather-resistant. This plywood is often used for exterior signs. MDO plywood can be sawn, nailed, routed, shaped and drilled.

Pallets - four heavy duty castor type wheels screwed to the corners for each piece of tractor equipment. It's far more efficient to wheel an implement into position on the loader or the PTO than moving the tractor to line it up.
@TheRestorationCouple
@TheRestorationCouple 2 года назад
Great idea. I imagine that would be even more useful with heavier implements. Fortunately these are easy enough to wiggle around a bit.
@philbooth319
@philbooth319 2 года назад
@@TheRestorationCouple and always leaving implements in a pallet means they can be moved around using the forks instead of coupling something up just because it's in the way/wrong location.

You could get forks designed to attach to the bucket so you don't have to remove the bucket. They work well for lighter loads and you can just use the rear forks for heavy things.

Surprised to see that the Solis doesn't have one of the compact tractor quick attach standards for the bucket. Our tractor is very old (1970s) so one of the first things we did after getting it was to get a quick attach adapter made up to fit the headstock on the old loader so that tool changing (e.g bale spikes to bucket) is a matter of seconds rather than spanners + minutes - less grazed knuckles too - perhaps there's an adapter or off-the-shelf option available for the Solis? .. impressive lift capacity on the Solis by the way, wasn't expecting it to take that much!

@rncharrison

That tractor needs a euro 8 headstock! That would drive me loopy. On a euro you pull one lever and the attachment comes off and to put it on it clicks in by crowding it.

@montidell7227
@montidell7227 2 года назад
I’m sure on the availability of them, but have a look to see if you can get some quick release brackets for the loader? Most loaders (like a Euro 8 standard fitting) are as simple as hooking under the top and then releasing a leaver which releases two sprung loaded pins, reduces the time to literally 30 seconds. If you can’t buy it somewhere you might be able to modify a euro 7 or 8 headstock.
@jtaulen
@jtaulen 2 года назад
Should get that both for the front and rear. Couldnt live without.

May look into it if we find we are changing lots. Even pins instead of the bolts on the loader would be a time saver.
@jtaulen
@jtaulen 2 года назад
Yup, didn’t understand why it came with those bolts. But yes, with attachments heavy enough to not really me moveable by hand, the quick attachments are obligatory really. But current size of attachments only makes it a nice to have.

Haven't checked the posts below, regarding your rear tines, if you place the top link in an alternative hole at the tractor end (assuming there is one) you might alter the geometry and get more "tip" on the tines as they lift??

Not sure of the exact designation (HDF??) but it is used for stop signs here in the US. Your local Highway Department can tell you more about that wood even in England?? Not to be confused with Marine plywood - which is actually plywood. Both of which are very durable but the street signage is meant for lots of heat,cold.wet, drying etc. and still be readable over the years. I believe they are expected to last more than 10 years.

Hmm.. 🤔 how long did it take you to change from bucket to forks? 15-20min + 5min to get the right tools. If I was you I should buy a quick coupler on the loader. you will save so much time, it take about 1 min if it’s hydraulic or 2min manual from forks to bucket. 🙂 Looking forward to see yours progress on the farm 🚜🏚🏠
