The tractor has been the single most helpful asset on the farm to date. We aways knew it was not a do it all solution but it's come close. It does look like we need a bit more muscle moving forwards though.

It sounded like it met its hydraulic lift capability and wasn't stability limited. You could consider winding the relief up slightly. 5 to 10% and I do not think you would be exceeding the capacity of the components. I suspect it is a gear pump, which will be the weakest component in the system, and they typically under rate their capabilities. Regarding the aggressiveness of the lower command, that is due to the tuning of the metering areas on the spool. The meter out notches need to be smaller to prevent the aggressive movement. Not too easy for the manufacturer to do im afraid, it is one for the valve supplier. Excellent work on your farming endeavours, I very much enjoy watching this.
@henryhudson1984
@henryhudson1984 2 года назад
The speed of gravity (lower/dump) based services is a lot harder to tune than non gravity based services due to needing to limit flow by using meter out tuning. Flow through the meter out notches is a function of the pressure drop across the valve. The higher the payload, the higher the pressure, therefore the higher the flow. To fix this, smaller meter out areas on the spool are required. Unfortunately, this does come with a trade off, of increased fuel consumption. You could consider installing an inline variable choke check to the head side of the ram. This will allow for free flow when lifting, and the ability to squeeze down the area when you are lifting heavy payloads. You would need to continually vary the opening though to prevent painfully slow hydraulics when unloaded, or excessive fuel consumption. Good luck.

You need an in-line flow adjuster in the feed to that loader spool block, the rams should be double acting so it's power up as well as power down.... Speed it up when required, slow it down when heavily loaded.

Yep I did say a small tractor was not quite right for your situation, but you know (as my dad would say, ears are for listening feet are for dancing). Re the loader dropping uncontrollably, there should be a value either inside the control box or near the cylinder manifold that you can adjust to restrict the return flow of hydraulic fluid. if you can not find it or they simply do not exist on this loader attachment, check with the tractor's service centre about getting a restriction valve installed (don't just put an after market one in line as you can affect wider hydraulics if you overload the circuit). The knob/lever you are referring to for the 3 point lift that slows it down is a restriction valve. I hope that helps D

Perhaps a better option for your needs would be a mini loader such as those from Multione or Avant. They have a much smaller footprint and weight, stable on slopes but a great lifting capacity for their size. Even these companies mid range models lift well over 1000kg! Both companies do masses of attachments….which go on the front, so no having to watch implements behind! Implements include grass cutting, forks, flails, cement mixer, tower lift….the range of implements are impressive, well over 150 implements ! Where they’re not useful would be if you’re planning to use traditional tractor implements like a plough etc. anyway, just a suggestion of something better suited to your needs.

Couldn't you put a cheap trailer at the bottom of the lane and park it there, so it there comes a delivery, they can put it on top of that and you just have to pick up the trailer? If it is too heavy you can easily split it on your property

As Hugh said in an earlier comment, an adjustable inline flow control valve. That might do the trick. If you can site where you can reach it, you can adjust as as the job requires. Great content. Well done 👍

It will be interesting what you decide machine wise - the capability gap is looking very telehandler sized, assuming you have budget and don't want a single bigger tractor to do it all. Telehandler will give you far more options on the fields than a forklift. Is your neighbour up for letting you borrow/hire theirs for a full day or 2 when you have big material deliveries due?

Fair play to the little tractor handling what it does 👍 might be worth keeping a look out for an older used telehandler like a manitou at a farm auction, can imagine it being one of those things that would end up getting used for most things just because you have one 😅

With all those trees and high buildings and roofs to maintain a telehandler with a human cage/platform on the front would be invaluable and much safer for working from. Having used them, they really are handy and so much safer than scaffolding etc but it does make it a 2 person job with one driving the machine and the other in the cage. It would help pay for itself both in cost and time savings.

Best way to argue for it with the missus is to talk about safety. That lorry driver was potentially a bit vulnerable had the pallet tilted forward quickly. Using any equipment at or beyond its intended capacity will leave you legally liable to third parties etc and just leads to stress you dont need. Your health comes first - especially with a young family.

We used to have a little Massy 35x on a 30 acre farm, my dad sold it and got a larger Zetor tractor and hated using it every day and would lament the day he sold his 35x. Yes it can be useful to have a larger one for that odd job but the remaining jobs don’t necessarily become easier!

Could you not edge the pallet half off the lorry so it wouldn’t take the full weight of the pallet to tip it back as gravity would be wanting it to tip if you see what I mean.

The distance from lorry level to floor level probably means a tilt is still needed half way, but maybe you could use a hay bale or something to rest it on

Hi I have a similar sized tractor. I would recommend you put a spinner on the steering wheel they are cheap and make one handed steering so easy. Also don’t forget that you need weight on the back of the tractor when you are lifting loads on front. I just fill my transport box with heavy concrete block.
@C4sp3r123
@C4sp3r123 2 года назад
I suggested a spinner quite a while back, as you say, they make driving so much easier and controlled and are cheap. They did say they would look into it so perhaps decided against one for some reason, though can't think of a reason you wouldn't use one once you tried it or possibly they just forgot with so much on.
@TheRestorationCouple
@TheRestorationCouple 2 года назад
We always leave the flail mower on when moving pallets which is heavier than any of the weights anyway. Makes a big difference. Yes a spinner would be helpful however it may be that we are getting another machine for loading so will wait and see. 👍
@C4sp3r123

@C4sp3r123
@C4sp3r123 2 года назад
@@TheRestorationCouple For about £20 or less (on Amazon) I would recommend getting one for the tractor, they really do make quite a difference to ease of operation, especially when using any attachment such as mowing both for when using one hand on the controls but also when twisted in your seat for example when mowing along a fence row and you are keeping an eye on the mower's position relative to the fence so are twisted in your seat. You can then easily steer with the remaining hand. It also makes manoeuvring in tight spots such as in the yard much easier as you can turn the wheel much quicker with one. I don't know if you saw my message on your recent hay video and via Instagram, in which I recommend getting a pair of hay hooks for shifting your bales. Again a very cheap tool but incredibly easier for shifting bales by hand and also a lot easier on the body. Do a search on RU-vid for hay hooks and you will find some videos showing them in use and the technique. Another comment I left on you recent JUNGLE AT THE FARM - What's going on in the SECRET MEADOW? video was, Price allowing you are able to get a rear PTO hedge cutter that should fit your tractor, a miniature/compact version of what you see on full size tractors. It would be very useful as it would allow plenty of reach for doing the banks but you also have plenty of hedges that are going to need cutting each year plus various other rough terrain where an articulated hedge cutter on the back of the tractor would be ideal. Though without the safety of a cab a flail one is unlikely to be safe enough for you but you can also get ones known as a finger or sickle bar cutter. There was a bit of other info in the original comment. I saw the Instagram video yesterday - looks nice. Look forward to the future videos.

I doubt you can change the speed of the loder. Only but moving the joystick a little bit.But could be a flow restrictor in on persure side that would slow then loder down. If someone tells you to twick the pressure relief valve that will not slow down or speed up the loder movement the valve will only allow you to lift bigger or smaller load depending on witch way you turn the grub scraw before the valve releases pressure.

Think the problem wasn't with the lifting capacity as such as he lifted it off the truck bed. It was the tipping capacity not allowing the forks to tilt back as he lowered so adding weight at the back wouldn't have helped.
