@@verymotivated7193 Based on that, I personally think that Candice and Phoebe should've been higher. I personally would've ranked them A to S tier if it was my list
"Ice archetype gym leaders tend to have the most fun look" Pryce: B Candice: C Brycen: B Wulfric: B Glacia: B just admit you were blinded by Thicc Icemom Melony and "Step-on-me" Lorelei
Cynthia single-handedly carried D/P. The battle music alone still gets my blood pumping so many years later. One of the only battles where you spent max revives without any regret.
She's a big factor in why nobody (or at least I don't) remembers Sinnoh's Elite 4. Think about it: every region before and after (that had an Elite 4) had a hot lady on the Elite 4. Sinnoh instead had the hot lady be the champion. Well, that and that each member is just plain forgettable on their own, at least in my opinion. This is just my speculation. Edit: Oh, yeah, and that her battle is good, being the first champion since Blue to have a varied team.
Cheren’s blush kinda gave off the vibe that he’s a bit nervous seeing as he’s very new to being a Gym leader. Only 2 years ago he didn’t even own a Pokémon. I love how hard he’s trying to play the role.
Norman being one of the most generic-looking characters means his design was successful LOL Norman... the normal type gym leader... who's just a dad. Kinda perfection in my eyes!
@@streamsos Trust me, i know. I'm just saying the concept of his design is successful, plus the fact that he's like, the only protagonist's dad we ever see in the series makes him unique in its own right haha
Honestly, I think Giovanni on his own is B Tier, but Giovanni sitting at his chair with his Persian is SS Tier. The pet panther really drives home how much power he has
Oh yes. A step up to just a normal house cat to pet while you sit in your chair. Having a fuckin’ panther to pet and a beautiful one at that? Now that’s next level. Persian is both beautiful and fierce looking. Like this is the Pokémon you get if you’re a mob boss
His most recent card in the tcg, Bosses Orders, has a really cool looking full-art print as well. Giovanni is a mob boss, no question about it, and he just looks sinister as well
@@Maestro19992 Unfortunately, this is probably true. They'll nerf it for all the snowflake casuals who will be about the same age as we were when we struggled through it. And probably give Bibarel a mega eveolution to purposefully piss everyone off.
I think that N did not win an official leuge battle. Otherwise we wouldn't have to battle Alder to become champions. Or we did not deffeat him in an official battle... Or both... I don't know, that part of BW always confused me
I mean technically speaking you’re the champion in SM and USUM and Kukui’s more so testing you, while Hau’s doing what you did in RBY and FRLG by challenging you to the title
By the way, I know most Pokémon fans don’t know this and this information is kind of new in the Pokémon community but there’s a reason why Valerie looks like that. And that’s because she’s a remnant of what was originally supposed to be in Pokémon X and Y. Which was supposed to be instead of the games, story being about beauty and the destruction of the world and shit like that, the original plot of the game was supposed to be like in MIB men in Black/alien invasion/alien undercover Shapeshifting human kinda story. With a lot of the important characters, gym leaders, and NPC’s in the game, supposed to be undercover/Shapeshifting aliens, and Valerie is literally a remnant of what that was supposed to look like, hence why her eyes look so fucking weird, even I remember noticing that when I first saw her image, I’m like why do her eyes look like that compared to all of the other gym leaders and that was because she originally was supposed to be a undercover/Shapeshifting alien. And it’s even funnier when you point that out because what’s literally the next game after X and Y sun and moon, And sun and moon was the game that kind of sort of had that. And when you really think about that, and the fact that X and Y was extremely lacking, you really come to the conclusion that sun and moon was really just X and Y part 2
I love how unifying Cynthia is for the Pokémon fandom. No mater which Pokémon you prefer or which generation is your favorite, we all worship the ground Cynthia walks on.
I knew. Because when they first released the game, my Walmart had promotional magazines, that showed off a couple of the Gym Leaders(with the Gym Leader taking up the entire page), and Kyurem's combinations.
I still love that game freak say "POKEMON IS FOR KIDS.. KIDS!" Yet they give them characters like olivia, nessa, Sonia, cynthia, lusamine, flannery, oh my
This is the one thing, pokemon always really nails, there are a few bad apples but man, they sure know how to do great, cool, cute characters over and over again.
@@eren-tv2et Tbh I can't really recognize which pokemon goes to what gen, everything after gen 4 is new to me. I just know that I saw a blue muppet in a karate gi pokemon shortly after seeing one that was a cart filled with rocks and stopped playing. I agree on it being too easy, but I blame it on the combat just not engaging anymore; same old slow paced one v one with four moves and the solution always being using a super effective move.
One of the details I love about my man Kabu... he enters the stadium using the same entrance as you while the others come from the opposite side. That plus the way he talks about wanting to learn even more even with how old he is gives you an idea of how respectful and humble he is. And then he and Nessa and Milo have the tradition of seeing off trainers who have defeated them which is just *chef's kiss* Super great!
A little thing about Kabu that I really liked but that a lot of people didn't seem to notice is that he comes into the arena alongside the player character--rather than entering through a door on the opposite side and meeting them in the center of the stadium--for his gym battle. It's a really small detail but it goes a long way to show how down to earth and chill he is despite kind of having a look like a grumpy gives-no-shits grandpa who might be rude or dismissive of "Today's Youth(TM)". I also thought how he handled / spoke to Team Yell in the mines was very cute and an interesting subversion of expectations.
Even though this list was made during the time I stopped playing Masters (hopped back in a bit before the Hoenn arc ended), I’m pretty sure this list also predates him voicing Sidney.
The Galar gym leaders basically getting S across the board is such a mood. Especially Raihan. Man I love that guy. I don’t think I’ve ever crushed on a Pokémon character before, but here we are.
@@D0MiN0ChAn It really is....I did enjoy the games but its really easy to see how shallow they were with the dlc's only slightly patching up a few tiny issues, and the fact they even needed dlc in the first place was bad. There were so many good designs in the region between the pokemon, characters, some maps, and even one of the stronger soundtracks in the series. Just a shame the rest of the game was just mediocre at best...
Yeah, but then because he was never admitted into the Hall of Fame he technically wasn’t the Champion so when you beat him you don’t become the Champion, which is one of the dumbest plot points ever but it also gives the post-game a bit more weight to it which is kinda nice.
@@Carl_McMelvin Bruh, there's literally a video on this channel titled "a villain who unintentionally always does good things". Your point of "they're too stupid to be evil" is nonsense.
@@Carl_McMelvin You're basically saying if a VILLAIN (Marnie's fans) doesn't do VILLAINOUS things (which they do), they're not villains. Literally textbook definition. You talk about facts while ignoring the facts. Hypocrite.
I know it gives people a blackface vibe but like... It's just an exaggerated version of Arabic or South/Southeast Asian, or Lightskin African, or Hispanic people.
@@Wooper160atThePond it's not because of the blackface vibe, that's because ngl, (for me atleast, I think his colors goes more with his tan skin face than when I imagine him white, and) that's ugly ! like, ew, why is only his upper body tanned and his lower body ultra pale? I don't have the feeling that his feet are actually his feet and it grosses me out, if he atleast had more tan lines on his upper body or just better "placed" tan lines in general it would be ok but nope he is 🌗
a shame Alder got passed over, I really liked his design and how he just pops up all over the region, even if he got bodied by N I just liked his character, and have a soft spot for Volcarona in general
@@yaboycyn so i looked it up and tans can in fact naturally get that dark, especially for outdoor swimmers. Is it disappointing? Yeah. Is it racist? Nah.
@@katzkinder7031 i’ve never seen a tan go that kind of cooler, greyer shade of brown, people who naturally have pale or olive skin i generally go warmer as they darken. i think it’s understandably disappointing that a character who looked notably dark skinned at that point in the games where the vast majority of characters were very light, turned out to be a pale guy with a tan
I want an elite four that is also a university student, when you meet him someone has to come in and wake him, and mid-way through the battle he gets a coffee to wake him, that's when the battle gets hard.
Gen 5 definitely has the most memorable gym leaders because they actually had personality and they were involved in the story! Gen 6 has the most forgettable gym leaders imo. Some of the have like 5 lines of dialog and that's it. Their designs are cool don't get me wrong, but man they are lame and forgettable.
I'm pretty sure there was a Tweet somewhere where he said he said he isn't bi or something to that effect but truly do appreciate his unbridled appreciation of attractive characters
@@Spacebattler That's the thing about Sword Shield, they put so much into the characters (including development which is rare in the pokémon universe) but forgot about everything else
Don't sleep on Galactic Grunts, which, according to Pokémon Adventures, have a hive mind...and they have a time and space motif...so basically the Borg or Cybermen.
Starting with "Shirtless Brock is best Brock" is such a power move XD Edit : Ngl Berg is a fave of mine, I really like his arena in B/W2 It was really peaceful -w-
