Mike Zeck did the covers for "Ten Nights of the Beast" through Batman 417 - 420. Todd McFarlane did the cover for Batman 423. Mike Mignola did the covers for "A Death In the Family" in Batman 426 - 429. John Byrne did the covers for "The Many Deaths of the Batman" in Batman 433 - 435. George Perez did he covers for "A Lonely Place of Dying" that went through Batman 440 - 442 and New Titans 60 - 61. Let's take a look at all of the covers from these runs and rank them.
We're using an A-F scale and then picking one comic from the A tier and crowning it the best with an S (special) tier designation. Every one of these is a masterpiece, but only one can be champion!

I genuinely love all the cover artists work. But...my one criticism of the Mike Zeck Batman and Deathstroke covers is that the lack of pencil definition around the torso means that figures appear a little pudgy. Great video btw.

They're all so good! I totally agree with you about Zeck's style. I used to really notice it and feel that way. However, over time, it really has grown on me. That lack of detail has become an identifiable trope of Zeck's that is SO endearing now! I love recognizing his stuff. Thanks for the GREAT comment!!!

#428 is iconic and I can't detract from the issue due to future plot lines and stays at A tier. Even though I agree with you that he should have stayed dead. #435 was underwhelming to me for the same reasons that you gave, but I'm giving it a D. Everything else we're on the same page even the S tier pick. 👍

Best. Comment. Ever! I like that you are able to divorce yourself from future plot lines with 428. I couldn't. I have to take EVERYTHING into consideration when I rank these and that comic lead to the breaking one of my few rules with comics and I just can't get past that. My S-tier pick can sometimes be derisive, so I appreciate the feedback that I'm not always way out there. Thanks again, I really do appreciate it!!!

@@thecomicsamurai I've been thinking about captain america cover #254 also drawn by Bryne. I like the window scene in batman #435 also. If we could've got a combination of the two issues I think it could've been that dramatic cover ending.

Serious question, would you buy a raw copy of Batman adventure 12 for 400? It looks like it’s 9.0+

No, I would not. For many reasons. I'm not a huge Harley Quinn fan. I like the character, but when she was introduced was just about the time I was phasing out of new comics. Also, $400 is WAY too much to pay for a 9.0. in my opinion. Lastly, I have never spent that much money on a single comic. Not even close. I would rather spend that much money on multiple hidden gems that I am on the hunt for. Maybe you were looking for a simple yes or no answer. In any event, THANK YOU for the comment!!!
