I had a 2013 Lexus SUV, owner was washing it with Dawn dishwasher soap. Worked wonders on the car, stripped any and all protection, and the rear plastic spoiler was burnt 😨. I rescued the rest of the car removing all the hard water ( Almost every car I get has mineral deposits embedded in the glass and clear) enhanced the paint, then cleaned the interior. Owner was thankful, then I got his new Navigator to protect ! It’s sad to see some of the abuse I’ve seen to some real nice cars. To cover myself I document them all and communicate with the customer before I start. It’s always special when I can improve or correct some hack work. Still learning, always in the back of my mind... Safety First, and least aggressive methods. Thanks for all you do.
When I bought my 2008 BMW X3 so I don’t have to drive my Camaro SS in the terrible winter. The BMW X3 was a nightmare but with all I have learned from you I was able to make it a lot better. I went over it with a fine tooth comb 💎
Hey Brian, thanks again for making these videos, I can imagine it must be a lot of extra work doing these with everything going on at the shop. These videos are such a treat to watch and learn from.
Agree! I have learned SO much watching the videos. I look forward every day to a new one! Brian has the Best detailing videos on youtube. I am being totally honest too...He always goes into detail (no pun intended) explaining what he is doing and why he is doing it. I look at each day like I am in class at a school for detailing! Being his shop is only an hour and change drive from my home, I am going to definitely make a trip down to see him soon just to say "Thank You"
@@apexdetail85 It's good to hear that, a lot of people hate going to work and only see it as a means to make an income. It's refreshing to see someone who is so dedicated to their craft, I think that's what makes this channel so special.
I have been working with tools for 30 years and from what I see it would take me at least 5 yrs to learn to run a polisher like you are doing there. Excellent video, experience and work. You are probably teaching competitors but the authority is yours to keep.
3M tape is my best defense from my errors and faster clean-up. I however do prefer using PPF on my daily drivers, over time it has proved to me the best way to not repaint the hood and still have my colors match.
I always learn something new on you site. I also like your hat. The golf one. It adds an upscale image which should allow you to tack on at least $100 more an hour. Well played.
Love that Adhesive Erasure Wheel, bought mine at Amazon, makes removing the leftover adhesive much easier than using Goo Gone and a plastic razor, which is what I used to remove all the emblems on my truck a week after I bought it from the dealership.
How timely! Because I want to learn from your experiences, I am holding off correcting my C6 until after you complete this C7 correction series. While not as poorly taken care of as yours was, my car has many of the same blemishes. Another (what I am certain will be) GREAT series of videos. Thanks for sharing your hard work on our behalf, Brian!!!
Looking good man! I have a 2019 red GS. Have two coats Wolfgang deep gloss sealant on it. Looks so good. I will do a light polish when I start seeing swirls. Love your videos man. I have learned a lot!
A neighbor of mine many, many, years ago let her 15 year old daughter wash her car for her....The girl used a BRILLO pad to do the whole car, top to bottom!! The mother came back home and flipped her lid! If I didnt see the finished results, I would have Never believed the story! I was about 12 then! Words were coming out the mother's mouth I never heard before! lol We all laugh about it now, but there was NO laughing then!
@@c6z061 , Thanks, yes I was thinking M205, it is available at Harbor Freight 32oz $30 I have never used a compound\polish or machine. I would like to clean up my 2017 black Corvette and get back to the sparkle it had as new.
Thanks I am going switch my C7 emblems from chrome to carbon flash. Worse part on mine is the transparent roof which is crazing (spider webs) badly. Apparently the clear fails just like on the C6. I live in FL so I think I’m just going to wrap it. Since I track my C7 (videos on my channel) I have PPF and love it, sure it’s not as nice as paint but the protection is totally worth it. I got EOS side skirts, the finish on them isn’t perfect maybe a 8/10 but for the money its a great deal. When tracking the car the side skirts are a must due to all crap that gets kicked up at speed.
I just finished polishing my C7 with a hex foam pad from chemical guys (green & orange). I used a 8mm DA polisher and turtle wax ceramic hybrid polish. I must say that it was soooooo hard to even see a difference in the clear coat. Don’t get me wrong it was an improvement but I feel like I could have done much better. The turtle wax ceramic coating feels and looks great on my garage baby. What should I change? I’m doing my corolla next with qyeon Syncro. I have a feeling that the same setup will cut better on that.
You didn't mention anything about clay bar. Is that something you don't believe in? I have a black C7 I just bought 2 weeks ago and wanting start this project and do it right. I'm somewhat of a perfectionist and want the best results.
Great video Brian > what's your take on menzerna 3 in 1? I've used it, and I've had great luck for a one-step. A real time-saver for fast correction work
I have a C7 and there are plenty of nicks by on the door edge near where you took the Clear film off. I assume its from the rocks coming off the front tires. What would be a good way to attack the nicks so they aren't so obvious? Been pondering this for while.
Wow, when you say there’s not much clear, left. I definitely didn’t expect the combination you used. And you’re still going to do a finish polish. Waow. And I was worried about hitting mine with an orange pad and a D/A, with griots boss correcting cream. My car is white, and I don’t think my clear, is as bad as this. But I do think it’s been coated. There are a few telltale signs of some high spots that didn’t get knocked down, on the hood, behind the hood vent. Can I do this pad and HD one, with a Torq22D? That’s all I have besides a Rupes 3 inch and the new Adams micro. Or do I need a rotary?
if I came back...I think I would want to be sissy!!!!!!!.....this is going to be a fun/entertaining vid series....I am eager to see which coating u are going to put on....whoever owned it didn't respect what they had....paint is trashed...but I am sure it will look even better than a black Steinway grand piano.....once u are done!!!!
It takes more than you think...however...most of the UVA UVB protection migrates to the top during the curing process...so leave as much clear behind as possible.
Again, why would a detailer see it necessary to tape curves to avoid burning-off paint? If the buffer is removing paint, you probably should not use a buffer. Isn't the goal of detailing to keep a car in good condition? If the car is reasonably maintained why rebuff the clear coat? Paint today is so well applied at the factory it requires relatively little attention to detail.
It depends. In some instances, we have to level the clear coat to remove evidence of daily wear and tear, automatic car washes / aggressive or improper wash methods, or other peoples inadequate work.
You couldnt be more incorrect. Clear coat is NOT being properly applied being a quarter of a mil short of what is necessary to fully protect the base coat. 2 mills minimum is recommended by PPG. Manufacturers are barely putting 1,3/4 mils on newer cars to save money. Protecting peaks and high points is only common sense for a beginner....as I explained.
@@apexdetail85 No Doubt about that !!! Soon diamond from the rough ,still sad to see anyone not do there do diligence spend the Time do it right the first time !!!
