Your vids are always helpful! can I ask a question that might be a nooby one. what is your mix up on MC 1block. I'm usually only doing steel petal or DB 2. hellsweep always gets launched I feel. Dont know if I'm doing something wrong.
Say what you will about Devil Jin and his heatsmash nerfs, but this looks a lot more fun to do than pressing heatsmash. I've always complained about how cool his heatdash options are, but his heatsmash was so good you usually couldnt justify not throwing it out. Now we get to explore this crazy oppressive shit, and I am a fan of it. It looks insane to deal with and super scary.
Other characters just have better tools right now. You'll understand as you get higher how weak his is to ssl and his range is terrible (apart from his gimmicks which are very punishable)

I've seen people use f2 online for a spike at the wall instead of b1+2. Is that nerfed as well, or still an option? I remember the spike not being techable compared to b1+2 iirc
So how do deal with his lack of range, his demon paw, hell sweep and jabs are all so damn short that you will be clipped before you can land one. Most of the roster can reliable hit him before he is in range.

Devil Jin even before the patch was already hard to use unless you are a wave dasher and can pop up electrics at will. Still even at his strongest he won’t win tournaments. He is still fun to use though and winning with him being one of the handicapped characters makes it satisfying.😁

Momo, we're here with you because we love DJ. I grew up on Tekken 3 (playing Jin). Since Tekken 5 till Tekken 8 I'm sticked only to DJ (DJ got the moves of Jin from Tekken 3). Even I made a Jin tattoo on my hand when I turned 18, 21 years ago 😉 I love Tekken 8, but I can't go out of blue rank (I stuck on Raijin) 🫣 This game now is so unpredictable and random... Anyway, DJ will stay my main even if they nerf him to keep only 1, 1, 2 😂
Hey Momo-Dog, would you personally consider DJ the worst of the 4 Mishimas at this point? It's a shame that he got so many nerfs since the games release but that won't deter me from maining him. I have a feeling that if they just nerfed the heat smash first then people wouldn't have made such a huge deal that he was busted and he woulda kept more of his new identity in Tekken 8. Ultimately, I feel he is over-nerfed at this point.
@cenfre2866 depends how you look at it. Kaz has better range in almost all of his attacks compared to DVJ and alot of his heat moves also better. He has an unsellable laser low while in heat.
And lets not forget that DJ has another heat smash that can be pretty useful specially at the wall where they can’t backdash, so you can mix them with MC1+b4+db1+2 mixup
So where does DJ fall on a tier list after the nerfs? I feel like he might actually be a mid tier pick at this point, considering his weakness in FT2 and the work required to pilot him correctly.
I think they always overestimated DJ because of the heat smash. Honestly, I dont see anyone naming one single "over decent" tool DJ has. They always put him in S tier because his heat smash had the insane range. Anything else? He doesnt have gimmicky strings mixing mids and lows, most of them dont even track, all his evasive stuff is very punishable very easily. Pretty fair character in a game where no one is atm. Hopefully that will change.
