elena fell for damon because he showed her passion, consuming love and beauty of her darkness but we never talk about why he fell for her! in s3 when we see in the finale when they met first damon tells her what she wants in life but he was take aback when she asked him what he wants? nobody asked him that, not Katherine, his mother and father or even stefan. WHAT DOES DAMON SALVATORE WANT? she understood him when he was hurting, she genuinely saw him for HIM. HE was attracted to her because of Katherine but he liked her fire, her not taking his SHIT. when she found out what stefan and damon were she went to the salvatore mansion and when she said if you wanted me dead I would have been dead and he said 'not yet' and he has that smirk on his face and sees the fire of that girl who was afraid of losing everyone. he was the one who truly made her feel happy and yes they were toxic in S5 but S6 was beautiful. the thing was he never gave up on her and even when she broke his heart for like what a week? when Katherine told him she never loved him and it was always stefan he moved on from her so QUICKLY but he was head over heels with elena even when she rejected him so many time but when Katherine just said one word, ONE WORD he moved on!
Really love your analysis. Please do the rest of the series. And maybe one about Stefan/Damon’s relationship over the years. While I missed Elena when she left, it gave the brothers such an amazing couple of seasons to grow without her.
17:23 he's so hurt by her "don't.. pretend to care." because damon tries so hard all the time to pretend that he DOESN'T care. so when he is showing in any way that he cares it is him releasing a massive amount of vulnerability from letting go of the chokehold he has on seemingly like he's not caring. that is one thing that damon would never do, which i think is an truly honorable thing that he shows more than any other character-never pretending to care or use a show of caring to manipulate someone. when damon shows that he cares about you it really means a lot, it's more passionate than any other character. i think part of that is because of growing up family never really caring for him, and kat pretending to care to use him. his heart is truly that precious that he wouldn't give it out to anyone, and sometimes the kindest thing he does is not embellishing dishonestly by pretending to care- the way that most of the other characters do manipulatively.

First off, thank you for making this kind of in-depth analysis. This is...truly the Lord's work and the things you had to say were both insightful and funny. Some things I thought about while watching were: 1. I loved the Venn Diagram becoming just a circle when it came to Stelena and Delena. It's very true and it also made me think of this video essay I watched about Love Triangles in Young Adult television and literature. I think VD is one of the only teenage-focused dramas that understands how a love triangle is really supposed to work. Most of the time a "love triangle" is depicted as just two people who have feelings for each other and a third person who interferes there. VD has it be a genuine triangle; all three people involved love each other (in different forms of love, of course), and it has an effect on all of their decisions regarding each other. A true love triangle should be a beautiful story from all angles, and I can only think of two stories that do it perfectly, with VD being one of them. 2. Your use of audio memes had my brain making its own text memes. When you were talking about Damon does genuinely terrible things even after we know how soft he can be, my brain thought of that text meme that says, "On the surface, I know I appear to be an asshole, but deep down I'm a good person. And even deeper down, I'm an even bigger asshole." Looking forward to seeing more analyses like this from you cos any video that shows equal love for both Stelena and Delena is hard to find and worth appreciating when it appears.

I feel Elena before or after the death of her adoptive guardians would of been a good fit for Pre Sage Vampire Damon the one who only fed on non favored people of society for food only one time a day in clean show offs without making messes or barely any such as adult or near adult criminals, convicts, pimps, players, child molesters, non humanoid animal abusers, bullies, robbers, kidnappers, burglars, thugs, brawlers, drug dealers, murderers, rapists, trigger happy soldiers, war crimers, and other people that would not warrant investigations and high profile alerts from councils, mobs, cults, and so on to be prudent until human blood bags became available where he could keep even more under the radars that is the Damon as a Vampire I could see being good for Elena as long as he is upfront to her and does not creepily stalk her for months and gets over his obsession with Katherine and falls for Elena in a non obsessive manner yeah

Ex: what you got wrong, what you got right, where their may be a tvd scene that involves misogyny. an example: in the 1x04 part of your video you missed that Elena never wanted to be in between the brothers. Which means every scene after that shows her "being in between the brothers" is against her character.

I would, Delena is the most popular by the way people responded to Ian and Nina, by the awards they won, by the videos Delena has, by the depth and the beauty of their story. The fact you like other couples in the show doesn't make them more popular with zero evidence but your liking.

It definitely is, I was a kid when TVD was airing and remembered seeing vids about damon + elena on youtube. they are the entire reason I started watching. they even won an award for it lol.
