Let's Talk About How To Pray

Prayer is something that is absolutely essential, this is our way to have a relationship with God. It's our way to be in communion with Jesus and The Father. However, not all of us how know how to do it. Are the words enough to make it a prayer? Are the thoughts enough to make a prayer?
So here lies the question, "How do we pray?".
In this video Fr. Malachy of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal shares one of his stories and talks about how we approach God, how he approaches us, and ultimately how to pray.

That was the most beautiful, truthful, simple, heartfelt video I have ever watched. Thank you Father. I will never pray the Our Father again without thinking of you and your instruction. If I can teach my children this one thing well I will have given them a God filled life.

Thank you for this! I am a former pentecostal (Assemblies of God) pastor. I saw you speak (Friday July 22nd) at St. Mary of the Lake in Chicago. You complimented me on my beard...LOL! I really appreciated your presentation; loved hearing your stories and your energy. You spoke about the Eucharist in such a way that makes me want to participate in the Catholic mass. I had to leave early that day. I really wanted to have the opportunity to talk with you a bit more but I had to run. Anyway, I just wanted to jump on here and say I appreciate your work and the work of God's Spirit within you! Blessings to you!

the deepest times of prayer were being relaxed w/my Daddy n Queen mama and I can laugh n cry in there presence or sometimes their arms ...posture etc not really a big concern here Thanks Fr. u r Awesome

It's good to see you always upbeat and happy, Fr. Malachy! I prefer to pray on my own in my room. The only times when I don't do so is when I attend weekday/Sunday mass. There's something from the bible about not letting anyone know when one prays and to pray in one's room in secret (don't know the exact quote), so I'm a little confused about what you've said. Keep on smiling and doing the good works of the Lord! God bless. +

To provide a little bit of clarity (I hope), I think that passage was about the intention of your prayer, that it's better to close the door, pray in your room and pray to the Father who is unseen, rather than praying in the streets just to seen by people that you are praying.. @@SpiritJuice I wish I could give you a heart but I don't have that option as a youtube end user. Thanks for clarifying what Fr. Malachy said, Spirit Juice! I searched online and came across "Matthew 6, verse 6" that states the above. Fr. Malachy was very instrumental, along with Fr. Mark-Mary, in my conversion in 2019 especially when they prayed the holy rosary together on Ascension. I'm really glad Fr. Malachy still makes videos every now and then instead of disappearing into oblivion like some other friars who have been moved to outstation friaries. Keep up the great job and God bless all of you. +

“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." Matthew 6:5-6 So, these words from Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are not Christian?
