Great video. Am lucky to have the original solina string synth and used the mxr 100 phaser in the past . All these pedals sound great and sound just as good 🎶
The Solina has a really good sound! It’s hard to choose a favorite phaser because so many of them work well with it, just enhancing different frequencies.
Yes it does. My favorite ones were not demoed ... the S-CAT Filter/Phase and the EHX Stereo Polyphase ... and my Doppleganger clone that I built! I will try them out with the Solina over the months to come ...you should get one of these. 😏
The best comparison will be the Solina Ensemble Effect with the Synthoma Elkorus. That is THE ensemble effect. It uses the same BBD chips as in the original Solina (the TCA350Y). Very lucky to own one!
Great comparison. I was also looking into Waldorf STVC, particularly because of the addition of vocoder, but decided to go with Solina and am happy with my choice. I might get the STVC as well at some point :)
Man that solina just sounds awesome. I may have to see if i can grab a bstock. Also those pedals are cool as well. I like that behringer vintage phaser speed.
Thanks! My guess is the Solina will be shipping by November at the latest. Yeah phaser speeds on pads are better when they are slow ... fast becomes a gimmick (good for drums tho). But the Dreadbox Lethargy goes the FASTEST! 😆
I guess the difference in speed on the Behringer solina is to get closer to that "Jarre-effect". As I understand it, Jarre used a lower voltage on a small stone phaser to get slower sweeps. (Works on the Behringer Phaser too. I use a simple 6v battery-pack. The Vintage Phaser runs for hours on 4 alkaline penlites!) after the phaser he split the out to two channels and used a delay routed to just one channel, usually the right, and combined the undelayed ensemble sound and the delay to get that truly rich stereo tapestry that is só much his "sound"
Thanks for sharing that! Personally I would rather run a phaser at 24V (provided it rated for it!) and adjust the rate internally if necessary. You are also suffering a loss of headroom at a lower voltage like that but then again ... these are line level signals, we feast like kings! 😂Another ingredient to this magical chorus/ensemble is a bit of rotary effect I think ... more experiments to come!
subbed! awesome video, thanks for these comparisons , its if not only video on youtube on different phasers and synths, only demos i could find are with guitars btw do you use Reamp box to use pedals with line signal?
Thank you kindly! 😃No I do not use any kind of reamping. For this demo the Solina went directly into the phaser pedal and I made sure its volume was reasonably low. In some rare occasions I have had issues with line level signals but most of the time things just work. I believe that the pedals that operated at voltages higher than 9 volts were able to handle hotter signals. Cheers!
My unit has the color switch backwards to the real small stone and the vp1 as well. My unit was just recently manufactured so I assume it’s not a factory fluke.
@@HazeAnderson i have an obsession just dont got the cheese to buy the ones i want lol. Maybe a good thing. I love seeing the pedal and synth videos. Great stuff man.
@@synthsamuraiproductions sounds like the only thing you are lacking is a nice delay. Behringer VD400 is cheap and is one of my best sounding delays. That Polara you have is really special, some incredibly lush reverbs and they are supposed to be authentic Lexicon algorithms. Cheers!
I'm also a big fan of the string synth sound - I think from 80s horror films from the like of Dario Argento. Interesting that the VP1 behaves differently to the built-in one of the Solina. Damn, I think I want one 😂
Thanks for making this video! I’ve actually got the vc340 and Streitchfett already, but ordered the Solina today. Now that you have all 3 does your Strietchfett still get use? How do you use it as opposed to the others now that you have em all?
Great to hear from you! I am actually about to move so it is ALL getting packed up and stored indefinitely (but not forever) so I would say that YES! The Streichfett is still used -- but about to move ... Anyway, while it doesn't necessary sound as "authentic" as the others (OMG just wait till you get your Solina!) it still has killer features like 2 part multi-tibrality, decent reverb and phaser and the ability to morph from sound to sound. It also has amazing MIDI CC implementation and can actually control the Roland VP-03, which is just bizarre and unnecessary but the Streichfett does things the analogs cannot. Cheers!
