Great podcast. I give browning props for coming out with fast twist rifling in some of these legacy cartridges like .270. this is a fairly niche market of course, but still cool
Agreed, exactly what I did with Zermatt TL3 and Proof pre-fits. The only issue I have is if I want to go short in a particular caliber they don't offer that in a pre-fit, usually nothing shorter than 20" in pre-fits. You'll have to get a blank and have it spun up which requires the action/rifle to go to a builder, which sucks.
@@texlee1640 if you want shorter custom order from OMR,PVA,Preferred and I’m sure there more and just wait for it to come in. No sending in action or anything.
Got 2 tikka ctrs one in 6.5 and .308 Drop them into a krg or MDT and you get a lot of gun for around 1500 bucks Edit Companies should offer barreled actions with and with out triggers Most the time people are dumping the factory stocks on most rifles... Dont get rid of the stock options but should offer barreled actions as well
Springfield's waypoint is below the 2k if you don't get the carbon fiber and find a sale. Great deal that really competes with Bergara in a lot of ways.
I have a Springfield 2020 waypoint in the rare 6mm Creedmore with a steel barrel instead of the more popular carbon barrel. It shoots 1/2 minute groups and hammers coyotes with the 87 grn vmax. It’s under $1800 if you can find one.
I have a lot of hogs and dogs on my Waypoint 2020 6 creed carbon barrel. Id trade it in a heartbeat for the fluted steel version. Been tempted since they started hitting the shelves again
It’s a great time to be a bolt gun guy, more options are never bad. The new aero action is slick as shit in that price point. Hell, even weatherby jumped in on the action and had a stripped builder action. ❤️
Honestly, it should be a 12 minute talk about the optics industry altogether and how they don't have a common option of FDE. Or, as you have so cleverly, have labeled, tanodized 😂😂!
Disagree with the statements about the impulse. I don’t believe they’re trying to compete with European rifles; rather just introducing something else different in the rifle space. Cool podcast episode though. Certainly cut from a different cloth from manufacturer’s perspective. Now co-oped owned, I believe??
I have had good results with Mossberg Patriot and Patriot Predator, after migrating the rifle to a chassis. The action and barrels are good. The triggers are awesome. The synthetic stocks are the problem. I have contacted them twice about it. The problem is that the rear action screw guide has a gap. Aside from using the removable mag well as a shim, this gap can allow some movement. You cannot torque down to anything usable, at all, ever. My Patriot .308 W averages 1 MOA on a full box of ammo when it is in the MDT LSS Gen 2 chassis. My TC Compass II .308 W shot .54 inches apart fresh out of the box with 150 gr ammo. Did better with 165, My Patriot Predator cerakote 7 PRC shot .41 inches apart on the a two shot (hunting grouping.) So, the question of why do the people not move to the AICS magazine is valid and the answer is, they are stuck in their ways. Edited to add: The TC Compass II I put in an Oryx chassis and it is still that good. The Patriot Predator 7 PRC? I put that in an Oryx chassis. I never fired it in the factory synthetic stock. Two shot pattern? .41 inches apart.
Wade, I have a custom built 6 creed in a 1:7.5 twist. I have my thermal on it and use it mainly for coyote hunting. Just beginning to re-load also. Can you recommend any loads that would be semi-fur friendly? Looking for that all around round for 600 yards and in.
Just ordered 1k Starline 6ARC yesterday. It went FAST!!! They just released it. My friend asked me why I didn't also get him some 6.5 CM while I was getting ordering - Sorry dude I was in PANIC buying Mode. I think my order got in, we will see... Glad to add this to my Starline brass collection!
Just wish Tikka would make 6creed n 6 arc and 7prc and 300prc and 28 nosler cause in my opinion for the money Tikka is killing it all you need is replace stock and u got a 2 grand rifle
Enjoy having one single magazine that may or may not work. I have been waiting for spare mags almost 9 months. The 6arc mini action was the biggest rifle related disappointment Ive had in a long while. I don’t get the love for that thing.
@@aceprater5397 it is a real problem and I don’t see a lot of comments on it. I have had a mini action in .223 for a while. I have a handful of spare mags for it & there are some things I really like about it so I have kept it. I bought several more spares in .223 a couple months ago and have a project in mind to modify the mag follower & internal feed lip geometry to make them 4 round ARC mags. It keeps getting pushed back but someday soon…
Just got a carbon stocked mini in 6 arc last week , shot one box of 105 blacks and 50 reloads so far, love the Platform starting to get the bugs out, need to clean up barrel channel and do some trigger work, cleaned it several times barrel still puking up
Opinion on American Rifles Company Coup De Grace, they have a .441 for 6mm ARC im interested in to build my first bolt action. What barrel length/twist rate would you use for a "sniper" application?
If you're trying to maximize velocity 26" or 28". If you want a handy rifle 16" or 18". For somewhere in the middle 22"-24". To get the most out of the 105gr-108gr 1:7.5" twist. 55gr-90gr probably 1:9 twist. Even in a 28" 1:8 twist won't maximize the BC of a 105gr VLD projectile. Personally I really like my 22" M24 profile 6mm ARC 1:7.5" twist
@@theproudamerican1967 beware of people asking you for the recommendation of a "sniper" rifle. The feds be looking for people to jam up and then justify the need to take away guns.
The howa isnt a 700 clone. Its a mauser base action with a m16 extractor. Its only machined on the top of the action to accept 700 rings n bases. Your completly wrong sorry 😐
Good to know.. we're they doin the m16 extractor b4 th US military started doin that? Ist it funny how people say this is a clone and that's an improvement blah blah when basically everything started with like 3 rifles/cart .
When shooting bolt action rifles support end either bipod, tripod, leveled whatever, why do y'all choose to have the wrong handed rifles? Stop struggling ,unlock your potential by having the correct handed gun! Trigger hand stays on grip pulls trigger, while other hand works the bolt, mag changes, scope doping, booty scratching... Never release grip on rifle ! One handed bandit style y'all been doing wrong ! Even the pros struggling with this. Closed minded arrogant to admit their wrong with no reasoning behind why they choose their rifles wrong handed! To each their own ! Backwards works
