Some people collect shoes, I collect brushes and it can be very confusing figuring out which brush to use for what so this was very helpful as always, thank you Gemma 👍😃
Wow!!!! You took the mystery out of the brush selection! This is one for repeat. Now, I will be watching in future how you use them. For instance, Foundation Fridays👏🏻👏🏻
I’ve always used bargain brushes. I purchased a set of the BK Beauty brushes when they were launched by @LisaJ here on RU-vid. What a difference! I tossed most of my other brushes and use them almost exclusively. Synthetic super soft and gorgeous handles. No, this is not an ad or sponsored but they are seriously fab!
The dual fibre Zoeva brushes are fantastic and the BK Beauty brushes are definitely THE BEST synthetic brushes out there. There are two brands of brushes I really want, Sonia G and Wayne Goss. They're on my absolute wish list. I think I need a separate savings account just for brushes, 😂😂 Back in the day we didn't use brushes (or I didn't). I did use the little applicators that came in eyeshadow palettes. So, my journey into everything - skincare, makeup and brushes - only started when I began to watch YT vids. I've had no money since that day 💷💷😂😂😂😂😂 Your eye look is gorgeous Gemma, very pretty indeed. 💗🌸💜💗💜🌸💗
Thank you so much for this video. I'm trying to figure out when you read my mind because I've been thinking of asking you if you'd do a brush video. :) I look forward to the one on eye brushes. Love your channel and love you and your mom!
I made the mistake of buying a set with 10 brushes at a very affordable price - but I only used one or two and they were a bit scratchy... then I bought some Sigma brushes - wow what a difference. So soft and much easier to blend eyeshadow 🙂
I have been a fan of the Eco Tools synthetic brushes for years. My skin is very sensitive these brushes are extremely soft ♥ I use these brushes for applying mineral makeup. Each week I wash them with Unscented Castile soap. Great review Gemma :) Take care
Great video! I’ve been wanting someone to do a video on just brushes. I don’t really understand all the different shapes, function and purposes. So although you covered costs too, I appreciated seeing what brush shaped you used for what purpose and why. I’m looking forward to the eye brush video. Thanks for taking the time to do this topic!
If someone is interested: - The "It Cosmetics Heavenly luxe brush" is packed in a transparent tube. Don't throw this package away!!!! You can put the brush in this tube and store it upright with all your other brushes. Perfect 😊! - The worlds best concealer brush is no. 57 from the Sephora collection (20€). Andrea Ali recommends it all the time and I swear Gemma would love it too if she could order from Sephora. - E.l.f. has a great blush brush. Thanks for this long awaited video, Gemma! Stay positive and healthy. Love, hugs and kisses Sabine 😘
Hi Gemma I think brushes make a big difference to the makeup application. Some of my favourites are from IT cosmetics, but I have some bare minerals and bobbi brown brushes that have lasted for many years (and still perform really well). i also have some real techniques brushes I use on a regular basis. I like synthetic brushes as they're much easier to care for/wash - I wash mine every week (powder products) and daily for cream products. Those not being used are stored in a zipped case away from dust and moisture. I do have a few brushes from other brands, but these are the main brands already mentioned. I have very sensitive, rosacea and eczema prone skin so my brushes have to be really soft and kept very clean, otherwise they will exacerbate my skin issues. Many of my brushes came from QVC kits, but I've also bought a lot as separate items. They are an investment, but if looked after will last a very long time. I do think it's a video topic that is often not discussed enough (apart from being shown "gifted" extremely expensive brushes on many channels), so I'm happy to see a selection from more affordable brands. I think many of these are great for those starting out, although many also perform really well for the experienced user. Best wishes.
I also use the RT400 for blush and find it perfect for the job. Have to be light handed on it though so I don't apply too much - one very light, gentle swipe in the pan and just pat it around where I want the colour.
There's currently 50% off loads of Zoeva brushes (and some sets) on their own website. Free delv over £50 to the UK. I've had an accidental splurge but it was just such amazing value and I don't have any decent brushes! Thanks Gemma, so excited to try these out 😁
I have also waited for this video! Many of my brushes are from e.l.f., but I also look for sales in stores like Sephora and Nordstrom and pick up higher-priced brushes then.
Great video, thanks Gemma. Sephora also make pretty good brushes. I bought a couple of face brushes from Bobbie Brown years ago and they are fantastic, still going strong after ten years.
I have the beauty pie foundation buffing brush and the angled concealer brush and they are amazing! I love them, they are dense and soft and I havent had one single hair shed at all!! Im pretty obsessed with beauty pie as a whole 🥰
I have a million brushes, I think I will finally narrow it down to a few favorites and stick with it. Thank you, this video was very helpful. I will keep watching...
Love Beauty Pie brushes - and also RT (the first ones I bought!). I do have a couple of Sonia G. & Wayne Goss brushes (from Lucky Bags) and also MAC 217 (10+ years old!) and ITCosmetics. My favorite powder brush is from Primark - it was $4.99!
I bought a whole load of brushes about a year ago on your recommendations. Please don’t tempt me to buy anymore! I also bought the Amazon Perspex box to keep them in😏
I love the Real Techniques 201 powder brush. The 200 expert face is my bronzer brush because it is so precise. My other favorites are from Elf, their Precision Airbrush Blender and Precision Airbrush Stipple brushes. For foundation I found the Lamora Flat Kabuki on Amazon (it is so soft, but I the reviews were mixed, so they may not be consistently well made) and it is my favorite brush! The Zoeva brush set caught my attention, and it is 20% off right now😱❤️❤️
Thanks Gemma, I have quite a few brushes but never know if I'm using the right one for the job. I have the RT 400 , they used to name their brushes rather than just number them but I'm not sure if they still do that. This video was very useful 👍
Hi Gemma I really enjoyed this video about face-brushes And looking forward to the one off the eyes! I actually like all your video’s, no one is the same! Thanks girl And keep up the good work! 🙋♀️👍🌹
Thank you so much for this video. I just purchased the Zoeva 104, and Oh My Word, I LOVE it! Foundation applications tools have always confused me immensely, but this brush seems to be the holy grail for me. It is oh so soft, made application a breeze, and the result is truly beautiful. Looking forward to adding to this collection slowly :)
This was very informative! Some utubers are really into expensive brushes and I really wondered exactly why. I take really good care of my brushes and I do seem to have collected quite a few. When the zephyr brushes were on sale I bought the set and I must say I really do love them. The only brush I have ever had come apart is the double ended It brush, so I do know glue is very important. I have some TM brushes that were purchased in the 90’s and they are real hair brushes and because of that I really baby them and I do so love the way they feel. I have some real techniques bruises and they are fine and that is what I take when I travel because I am leaving the good ones home so they are safe. I am looking forward to the eye brushes. Thanks 😊
Great video! I’m a brush’aholic and appreciate both high end and good low cost brushes. They’re my preferred application method and I’m always on the lookout for a nice brush!
Another great video, thank you. I bought 2 sets of cheap brushes last year, handles are falling off already! Also the ones that look like miniature hairbrushes - pretty useless but they look cute 😂. If I'm ever in the money I'd buy Wayne Goss's, they look soooo soft.
Spare brushes (that arent going to be used on your face) come in handy for house painting...I got the most amazing precision cutting in a dark navy paint against the white ceiling using an old eyeshadow brush 😂😄 Thanks for the video
Thank you for doing this and the future video on brushes. Kind of intimidating when there are so many to choose from. I’ve been using Morphe’s brushes for a long time but I’d sure like to try some other brands.
I was hoping you'd do a video like this! I'm so in love with my Real Techniques brushes but have been looking to upgrade a couple. Thank you for the info!
Thank you for a very useful video Gemma! I have been testing a lot of brushes the last two years, but haven’t found a favourite yet😖 I will try some of your recommendations and fingers crossed for finding a new favourite 👍🏻😊
Hey Gemma, thank you very informative as always. I see you using a lot the brush junky brushes which are not mentioned in this video. I really like to know your opinion about it. Love
Omg Gemma you did such a great job of this that I’ve ordered the Zoeva set from Sephora NZ (I’m down under lol) Can’t wait to receive them and USE them. Thanks for always giving such thorough and enjoyable reviews/recommendations!!
Thank you Gemma! This is one area of make-up I needed a refresher course on! I can’t wait for your eye brush tutorial. Personally, I like Sigma...I have two of them. I want to replace almost all of my brushes.
My favourite brush of all time is the Shiseido Hasu Fude brush. It's small but I've had it for 2 years now, not a single lost hair and it blends foundation or cream products like an absolute dream. If it ever breaks I'll be replacing it in a second.
Video downloaded! It will be the one I will go back to 🙌🏼🤗 Thank you very much Gemma. I was one of the few asking to do a video on brushes 🤩 Most of my brushes are Sigma, Morphe , Zoeva and Real Techniques. Oh and I have the IT cosmetics no 7 one too. But I feel I am the one with “all the gear and no idea “ 🤣🤣 I am sure i still get it wrong when doing my makeup and sometimes “ clowns” might me my middle name ☺️ can get heavy handed with the blush ...
Thank you soooo much for this video! The brushes that I've owned and loved for years finally died..R.I.P....so I bought a highly rated inexpensive set which is just okay. I've been considering Zoeva brushes for a while and your assessment has convinced me to pull the trigger. You gave us great information! Thanks again! XXOO❤
This is great, thank you! Cleaning! Could you do a video about cleaning brushes, products to use, techniques? Im the worst when it comes to keeping them clean.
@@jtyt4146 And I dont even have super-sensitive skin. That's not a good sign, the falling bristles and then itchiness! I looked a few days ago for the Pixiwoo channel, gone, they have a RT channel, other than that it is guest appearances etc.
My faves are real techniques, blank canvas, some pennys/primark, I have a set of zoeva which I am saving for a v special occasion also have a set of mac brushes which I will start using for weddings etc
I have the it cosmetics dual sided brush and I saved the tube and use it to store it without lid(for air). Of course it fits in tube perfectly but it’s also wider at top brush so it kind of holds it in place in the tube & doesn’t touch bottom, then put tube in canister standing up. It works good as long as you have saved your little tube. Lol. Hope that made sense, probably did to others who also have this brush. But yea, otherwise not sure what they had in mind. 😊😉
Hey Gemma, have you tried Lisa J’s BK Beauty brushes? All synthetic and so soft. 101 foundation brush is a real different shape and I love the 106 foundation brush too. xxx
@@PamperedWolf I’ve heard Charlotte H say similar, I wonder why it’s so much more expensive to get things imported to the UK than Australia? For us it’s usually just our 10% gst and of course conversion cause the Aussie Dollar is worth so much less than everything else. I wish it wasn’t the case, I think you would really appreciate them.
Good morning Gemma, I’ve just started watching and I just have to say that your makeup looks amazing. I don’t see what you’ve used for today’s look in the drop down so could you please tell me what palette you used. The lid colour and the colours in the crease are beautiful colours. Thanks
This was a great video Gemma ! Super helpful! It has been a mystery to me for several weeks as to why my eye lids have been so irritated . I have slowly started eliminating each one of my daytime and nighttime products (even though I don’t put actives around my eyes) just to see if I could find the cause . I am now wandering if I am allergic to some of my eye brushes? Time to investigate 😊
@@PamperedWolf .. Thank you Gemma! I went through my eye brushes and one of them is a bit coarse! I am going to switch it out but going to wait for your eyeshadow brush video first 😊❤️
