Forgive me for popping this up LATE in January. But... never too late to set your goals, right?? I hope some of these intentions resonate with you! Definitely share anything you're aiming to do crafting-wise in 2023. Take care + happy knitting ;)

When I was a child, my mum used to knit. She went to the local wool shop and put enough behind the counter for a project and purchased a couple of balls of it each week as she couldn’t afford to buy it in one go. So each project was purchased and knitted at the same time. Better really when you think about it. X😊❤

My mum did the same. Also if she put an extra ball aside then did not need it the shop was happy for her not to buy it and return it to the shelf. But if she did need it she had guaranteed same colour and dye lot.

Hi Bethany, Love your Wednesday sweater! The heathered lilac hue is perfectly complimentry to you so you made a great choice!! Love the collar as well. Don't even sweat the 'Mom Hair.' You are taking good care of your baby and still managing to having a life that includes the all important hobby of knitting and sharing it with us! So I think you need an atta-girl! Keep your vlogcast coming, it's enjoyable to have on while i knit to it. Cheers, Carrie💖

Thanks Bethany, for saying all the things I needed to hear. My free time has also become very limited and I really needed to hear that a hobby is just that, a hobby, and not something to stress about.

yarn never really goes stale for me, instead i have a tendency to forget what i have and buy new stuff that would serve the same purpose. so ive added everything to an app so i can look it up whenever im thinking about a new cast on and thats really helped. Also if the urge to buy more yarn gets really intense i'll reorganize the stash to remind myself what i have

We are in this position and apologizes are not in order. What is your authenticity and confirming to each of this we have life events that require our immediate attentions. For yourself is your little one. What we can get from each other is an inspiring community of that love the creativity of knititng. If not to begin but enjoy. Some are still homebound while others the weather is not at the point of getting out daily or even the week. So thank you for sharing your time as a very nice and lovely friend. I am so inspired by your sensitivity and know how appreciative we are all. ❤

Me and my friends have all picked one big (and for me expensive cause I chose a fancy yarn for the first time!) project that we work on together through the year as a kind of accountability to help us finish what we start! Having yarn friends is just the best!

Hi Bethany, First, enjoy every moment, every baby milestone. I'm not a mom but, I do know those baby moments fly by in a blink but, will live in your heart and mommy memories forever. This is according to my mom, sister, friend and family members who are mommies. Now that that has been said, I love your Wednesday Sweater!

I can understand a lot of this. I find that I have recently had to take a step back from some of the knitting podcasts I always watched because they hammer out FOs and then I get sucked in to buying patterns and yarn they sell me on and it stresses me out. I never feel pressured by you to buy patterns you’re making, you actually focus on knitting itself and honestly it makes me love your channel so much.

10000%%%% true to everything! About us with pressure to choosing projects to how the yarn can get stagnant... All of it. My goals are similar. I have a 7 year old and they say their needs change, but they still need you and they for sure do. Trying to be present with my family in it's current stage. I wish I had knitting when he was a baby but I'm glad we have it now. He's adorable! Love baby kisses. All the best to your family! - kimberly

Donating old yarn is really freeing. I did this a few weeks ago. I also did the same with old wips. Believe me & just do it.

spinning is awesome!! i knit more then spin but sometimes its nice to pick up something like spinning just to have a change of pace. I had a Baby last year February and its definitely a challenge to knit or spin as much as i would even like too. But as my little one has grown over the past year she has watched and taken interest in my spinning and knitting, i have sacrificed a skein or two of my fiber just so she can feel like she is doing what mommy is doing, little ones love to mimic what there parents do. she even has gotten into playing with the spinning wheel! i don't have anything of importance on it so we play on it together.

I can relate so much! My baby is 11 months old and my stash is overwhelming. The need to cast on is strong, but time to knit limited. But anyway it is a beautiful time. This year I don't have a goal, just a word. Balance. For everything. Work and home life. Time for baby, time for me. Buying only yarn for specific projects. And preferably knitting with what I have. Not spending more energy than I have.

My intention this year is to be kind to myself and the progress I make in knitting items. I need to remind myself that it's okay to not be the fastest, or to not finish a sweater, etc. I am working on my sweater, I am putting effort into my sweater and I need to give myself permission to enjoy that and realize it's okay to not be finished yet. No more yarn until I finish my stash! Thanks for sharing your intentions!

My goal is to knit things that scare me! Last year was my first big year of knitting, and I learned a ton, but I mostly did stockinette. I want more textured sweaters, but they scare me! So I started the year off with a bang and cast on the Arctic Light sweater by Kutovakika. And while it takes so much longer than plain stockinette, I am loving the result and am so proud of myself!

My intentions for this new year are to knock out my UFO/WIP's, use yarn in my stash, try washing some of my "gifted" and "inheritance" yarns, plan a knit-together with one of my now discontinued stitching group members and get things organized. That's about all I can handle for now, lol! ✌️💜🧶

I've always only bought yarn if I had a project. The problem I had wwas I got excited to knit something when I first saw it and bought the yarn but by the time I got to it, I didn't like it anymore. My intention for this year is to empty my stash and to give myself a month of thinking before I decide to start a project.

You have a really good plan for containing your stash! It's totally what I do: I find a project I really want to do, get the yarn and then work on that project. This way, I do keep my stash under control. And since I live in a really small house, having my stash out of control really gives me anxiety so I'm really happy to have found this way to keep everything under control!

❤ your channel and baby is so adorable! This was a very helpful video. I am a stay at home mom and a crafter. I also feel the pressure to finish things especially when making for my family members. My goal is also to reduce my stash and to enjoy the process of creating vs stressing to have a certain number of FO.

Not buying sweater quantities has been a problem for me. I have MANY skeins of orphan fingering yarns. When I started knitting I was doing shawls and I rarely wear any of them. I need to sort through them and see which ones are suitable for socks. I did just ship off some bulky to a knitter in Minnesota. She is more likely to use it than I will here in the mild climate of coastal NC.

I always love to see your video come up as a notification on my phone 😊 love your energy ❤ regarding spinning though, trust me you’d love it! For me it’s very mindful. Most of the time I stick something on the telly and spin on my wheel, but occasionally, especially in the summer when I can take it outside, I just sit and spin mindfully. Just love listening to the rhythmic noise the wheel makes 😅

Been following along with your channel for a few months now. Love watching your videos while I work. I’m a crocheter and some of my goals are to create intentionally (get rid of/work up the yarn stash i dislike or don’t love while beginning to upgrade the yarn I use), prioritize my physical and mental health, and begin to learn how to knit!

Hi Bethany I feel the same way. I have to frog the sweater that I started. And I have a few project on the needles, and I want to complete them. I do have traveling knitting which are socks. I also have quilts in the making. I have alot to keep me busy. And I also do crossstitching that is TV stitching. But I sure can relate to you. Only thing is I dont have a baby to care for. That is a tremendous job in itself. God bless you and Arthur and daddy too❤❤❤❤❤❤

Back to knitting again after a half year break (even then I started knitting properly like last year) and fallen in love ❤ I feel the mojo and things seem to click a lot better than they did before. So… I want to just knit more and get some of the things I’ve really really wanted to knit down. Start replacing my wardrobe with hand knit items and get gift knits out for all my family

Congratulations on your Baby!!! ❤ I was noticing the way you hold your needles while knitting.. It looks like you are not “holding” the right needle…. Looks like it is held by the yarn that you are carrying…. Will you do a short a video to show that technique better??? Maybe on a closer image or slow motion?

So long time crocheter but VERY new knitter literally just learned to purl yesterday (I'm so freaking proud that I'm almost bursting) so my goal for 2023 is to knit a hat and then a sweater, so what pattern can you and people recommend for ones first sweater knit?

My first sweater was Tin Can Knits' Flax pattern. It is free, well written, and a top down raglan so no seaming! It works up pretty quickly because it is worsted weight. I didn't do the garter panel in the sleeves and I tried it in a toddler size for my first attempt to make it faster. I would recommend it as a contender.

The Winter Bluff Sweater by Ashley Lillis is a free pattern and she has a RU-vid video tutorial to help you learn. It’s a basic top down raglan too and that’s what I’m making for my first sweater!
